  1. A few more comparison pics. Please excuse the crude photos- Took these pics in some less than ideal lighting, and so between that and the shallow DoF, they're not great (but I think they do get the point across): Gen 1 to the left, Gen 2 to the right... 6 to 6 3's 12's 9 to 9 Note that the indicies are actually quite a bit thinner; they look great! I didn't realize how muh thinner they actually were until I put 1 and 2 next to each other. A small, but significant difference to say the least Great work as always to the creative minds that went into these dials...
  2. Two reasons in my opinion- 1) The case is quite a bit thicker, bulkier and has a very chunky feel to it with it's angular lines, etc. With a bracelet, it just FEELS so much heavier as well. 2) The integrated lugs also make the case feel bigger. I am sure there are some other contributing factors to this being the case, but those were the two immediately noticable characteristics that made this one feel bigger than a 44mm PAM for me...
  3. J- Not yet. RobertK had his caseback open, however and was able to confirm a Swiss motor under the hood
  4. Fakes are more interesting than gens...
  5. Thanks, Concepta! I managed to muck mine up already; 7750's and I apparently don't get along too well. So... Out of commission for now... I've definitely had better days
  6. Pre-V: You definitely want /0 and not /1! Maybe a miscommunication on Phong's part, as sometimes the email back and forth can get a bit cryptic and typos are not uncommon. But, he oughta know this Cheers! R
  7. Very interesting, Theo. Might you have a picture of one of these watches? Would be interesting to see! I've seen the toywatch and plastic watch ones that are clear and look similar to Rolex Oyster cases... But a ROO shaped one? Strange... But intriguing....
  8. I'm a big fan of Diesel jeans, but I think that's about it.
  9. If it's a pressed on caseback, you'll need a case knife, or in some cases a bezel remover would work as well. Or, just pop it by a local watchmaker/repair shop. They can probably pop the back for you in a few seconds...
  10. I was gonna say- This dun look like no Fiddy!
  11. Looks great! But not sure about the SS crown though... The contrast works for the caseback, but it kind of sticks out when the crown is a relatively small part and is surrounded by the DLC'd case/bezel, pushers, CG, etc. None the less, a very nice and very unique 196! Very cool!
  12. TeeJay- The case on that one measures about 42mm w/o crown; lugs are 22mm. It wears fairly true to size with the big bezel and all. Here's a comparison with a 40mm Sub case:
  13. I've got some Maratac's for a couple of watches... Usually just do the steel and leather option though... The heat here in Denver is pretty dry, so it's a little more bearable...
  14. Hmmmm... 36mm might look nice on the missus. The display back kinda kills it for me, though
  15. Fxr- I'm with you... 3717 for Saturday...
  16. Thanks, Don and vly! I gotta say... I knew I'd love this, but I really had no idea how much I would until I saw it. Definitely gonna go a few rounds with some mods... And that kevlar looks great, vly! Tut- Thanks for the great transaction! I admit, it was hard to give up the franken Sub, but I can absolutely say that the successor is worth it. I think this one will have a permanent home in the collection!
  17. Haha... Indeed, fellers. This is one of those 'where were you all my life' kind of pieces. Always noticed it from afar... Had several chances to pick one up... Missed the boat, started kicking myself, and finally had the right opportunity come along when least expected. It s definitely a high quality piece, and I'm ecstatic that I was lucky to find an EL 100! Chief- As far as end links go, this one had some pretty tight ones, but removal of the bracelet from the case wasn't a problem, and it was just as easy to put everything back on. Ends are nice and snug against the case; I was hoping to see some slightly thicker spring bars in there, but the stock pieces are proving to be adequate. G10 will definitely not be an option; I threaded it through the lugs for fun, and just to see how it would look, but no love connection was made. At any rate... I do think the AR is a must after seeing yours, and the day/date wheels are without question. I may get a strap for it, but I will need to think about whether I want the strap or bracelet for long term use; I don't want to be mucking about with those spring bars too often. Not really a ton that needs to be done on this one, which is kind of nice for a change And yeah... This thing wears almost as big as a 44mm PAM on me. I was kind of surprised to see that
  18. Just rec'd this one today, thanks to a great member of the forum here (tutima). Bone stock 3717; I believe possibly one of the first EL 100? This thing is just so much better in person than images could ever capture; just gorgeous. I now know what the excitement was all about with the 3717; it certainly lives up to the hype. Very solid, nice, weighty feel, thick substantial case, fantastic bracelet... Dial and hands are just Of course, a couple of small common issues- The day and date don't line up, thick markers, etc. Got some ETA 7750 wheels for it, but am waiting to install them; I'm not sure but I might want to add a German day wheel in just for something a little different Might hold off for a Swiss transplant... And, I don't believe there is any AR on the crystal. No tint... I'll probably need to do that as well. No big hurry, though. Not sure if I can live without it for now; just want to wear it and enjoy it for a bit. At any rate... Some pics. And for grins, a couple on a G10... New wheels... Switched back to the bracelet; wasn't feeling the G10 so much... To say I'm thrilled would be an understatement. I'm loving this one... And looking forward to trying my hand with something a little different from my usual norm... Thanks for looking! R
  19. I think that good customer service is a requisite at any price point. If you received the above answers from a simple inquiry, just imagine how fun it would be if you had to deal with an after sales problem or issue after receiving the watch. In my opinion, he did you a favor. You now know that your money is better spent with someone who IS willing to take care of you and is willing to earn your sale. I've walked from some big purchases because of the attitudes of some sales people- The pricing was fair and reasonable, but in my opinion, their arrogance was not. So, out of principle, I left and ended up spending more elsewhere, but was treated with dignity and respect. While $170 isn't a lot in the grand scheme of things, it isn't a little either. And if a second purchase was a possibility, sounds like he just lost some return business. In the current economic climate, I would think that people and businesses would try a little harder, but I guess some don't need to make that money (apparently).
  20. Pre-A 002 on an old Dirk PAV style...
  21. Thanks, R- I'm not sure what size the lug holes are, but they do look larger than the ones on my Jimmy case; .2mm may not appear to be much, but I definitely see that it might make drilling a little difficult. So, if I understand correctly- You basically took the threaded portion of the 1.8mm bar, cut the end off and slotted the top to recreate the other end of the double screw lug bar for a Pre-V?
  22. Thanks, Pre-V! I am looking forward to the prospect of a 203/A as well! Rec'd this case, which I think may provide a good basis... Lugs look pretty good, I think I'll be a happy ubi to say the least!
  23. One of those 100 lumen led flashlights should charge up the lume rather quick... Thinking of getting one
