  1. Negative. It's definitely an aftermarket...
  2. A very understated, elegant classic!
  3. I can definitely say that both of my El Primero based Daytonas don't wind when screwing down the crown; however, that's because of the spring loaded Rolex crowns
  4. Definitely remove the day wheel. It serves no purpose, may cause a slight lifting to the edge of the overlay, and is easy to remove. Just push the circlip off carefully and lift the day wheel. Maybe 30 secs worth of work Good luck... R
  5. Stick to the 2836. There is a height difference in the position of the stem; roughly half a mm or so. Doesn't sound like much, but that difference can mean a snapped stem. 2836-2 is indeed a day/date movement, but the day wheel can be removed easily; just a circlip and the wheel comes off leaving the date in place.
  6. Could also be the spring in the crown; if the spring isn't pushing in, then the crown stays locked and hence continues to turn the stem.
  7. If you're inclined to give it a go, I suggest testing/experimenting on aftermarket first. This will give you a feel for what to expect Personally, I know that the bleach is doing it's job when I start seeing some dark swirling taking place in the solution. When you're ready to pull the insert out, it's best to simply pour the bleach out and run fresh water into the container; touching the insert may produce some uneven color toning on the surface. So, for an even finish it's best to handle as little as possible until the insert is fully rinsed of bleach.
  8. V- Starting them young, eh? That little one has some good taste!
  9. Yeah... They definitely fade easier, but each tends to have it's own characteristic, and strength. Some take as little as 4 minutes... Some require a little longer. The gens that I've done are always more resilient. Those definitely require a little longer, and a more watchful eye to keep them in check.
  10. Do past watches owned count? Think I've only owned one... Slightly frankensteined... Long since gone. Thing was like a hockey puck strapped to my wrist!
  11. I've had some mixed results with bleaching Some good... Some went a bit askew... The best one I had ever experienced was an insert that faded to a nice chocolate brown (Jetsons owns this piece now). Wish I had a pic of that one. Anymore, I just let them fade on their own time I'm going to have a long wait ahead of me...
  12. JoJo... Wish I could. Sounds like it's going to be a great time!
  13. RobbieG- What do you think of the Jaquet Droz? Is it a watch that gets much wrist time? I had examined one at my local AD sometime ago (to which they insisted I wear cotton gloves while handling); just a basic Grande Seconde. Very beautiful watch, but I don't think I'd find much opportunity in wearing such a piece, as my daily dress is a bit too... Uhhhh... Perhaps I'll say relaxed and casual (usually jeans and a polo). I was a bit surprised over the relatively low price at the time; $12k-ish as I thought a watch of this stature would ring up a bit higher (no worries there, I suppose; they've since adjusted prices for their current line up ). At any rate... A very beautiful piece, nicely balanced dial with a very elegant, slim case. Just curious if it's one that makes your regular rotation for wear? B- Thanks for the link to the vintage Fifty Fathoms I had seen it before, but forgot to bookmark it, so now I have it saved. Lots of good info on there, but most of all LOTS of eyecandy! Good stuff for sure... Cheers, R
  14. Ahhhh... I was confused as I thought you were referring to the Poley in the caseback? At any rate- Yes, mine is a plain rehaut; nice and smooth. My case example is a wm9; a bit more expensive, but I'm quite pleased with it. I think EuroTimez can get the non-engraved rehaut as well. Hope this helps! Cheers, R
  15. Dave, I don't recall what mine has engraved on the inside of the case back. When I swap dials, I'll take note and snap a pic for you.
  16. Yessir, RG I myself like a tight, focused collection. Makes the morning decision of what to wear a little easier to deal with! As it is... I oft times find that I struggle with that task with what I have!
  17. Agree, Tribal! There has never been a modern rep Sub like this before; vintage yes, but modern? It's a first!
  18. One thing I find myself doing with this watch is constantly spinning the bezel. I just love the click... Thanks for the kind words, Chris! Much appreciated! Cheers, R
  19. 1) Vintage Heuer Monaco 2) Vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms I could only come up with 2 that seem to be consistently on any sort of list that I have...
  20. Hmmmmm... For me.... I think the answer is 'No' At least, for my frankensteins. It's not the amount of money that I have into my projects, but the time and experience. I've put a lot into each of my frankies; as such I've grown sentimentally attached to them all For my reps... I really only have one left; my Patek Nautilus: And of course, I can't let go of the SM300... So, I guess if I were offered one watch for my collection, I'd have to turn it down. Besides... One needs a little variety in life, right?
