  1. I think the watchbuckler had some 18k PAM buckles... Don't recall if they were WG or YG, but I do believe he had both tang and deployant.
  2. Very nice! The 5053 is an excellent choice, my friend!
  3. Some pics to illustrate... Supersize me... Those are the threads that strip...
  4. ryyannon- It's the tube that is attached to the exterior case of the watch that is the issue. It's completely external to the movement. I'll take a pic of the item in question here in just a moment... As for what Radiomirs are exempt from this- difficult to say. I've only experienced the Radiomir that I have, which was one of the early PAM183/210 cases from River. Granted, I've been careful in threading my crown down (so the threads still work) it is easy to see how they can strip with little effort.
  5. Indeed- It's an issue isolated with the crown and tube... These parts are rather soft and can strip out easily. No worries on the movement. The Swiss ETA 6497s are built like a tank!
  6. They all came from DW. The PN (on the left) and standard black dial (center) are 1st generation DW's... The silver dial (right) is a 2nd generation...
  7. Ethan- I must concur 100%! 7750 Russian Roulette can be an expensive game to play
  8. Man... That thing is sweet! Dunno that I would wear it... But, it's definitely an interesting piece!
  9. The problem with the crown and tube on the rep 'Historic' Radiomirs is that the metal used to construct these components is a soft metal- Possibly brass. So, it is recommended that you take great care and caution in threading and unthreading the crown each time you go to wind the movement. Over time, and since the movement is handwind, stripping may be inevitable as wear of the material over time cannot be avoided; however, it looks like davidsen might have a solution for us with this problem in the form of better, stronger tubes and crowns (see olreon's thread in General Discussion)...
  10. Not sure I completely understand... I am assuming you are concerned about the crown and tube threads stripping?
  11. Actually, I was recently thinking of letting this one go... But, after giving it some thought, I don't think I could ever part with it
  12. Same old 1665 MBW Franken for me... My wife is starting to wonder what the point is of having 9 or so watches that just sit in the watchbox...
  13. Thanks, again fellas! This Tudor was a lot of fun for me to build. I especially like that it's a little unique for a franken-rep. Not many Tudors out there! I've been watching the prices for genuine 7928's, 9401/0's and 79090's; they're all gaining in price! Still affordable, but it may not stay that way for long
  14. I respectfully have to disagree with you on that one... All I need is a Zenith El Primero 400 for this 16520 frankenstein I'm working on- Once the movement is fitted, it will be more or less the same as a genuine 16520 Daytona (same movement, same case, etc). Only difference is that 1) it will not have the provenance of originating from Rolex S.A. and 2) it won't have the Rolex signed rotor and 4030 signed bridge. Oh, and it will still beat at the trademark Zenth high beat 36.000bph. More info here... Link: Project 16520.
  15. DW's have the correct size/profile casebacks... More info here.... Link: DW 6263 details.
  16. The watch in the seller's images look legit to me. Everything looks genuine- At least on the outside. Since there are no pics of the watch's movement/case back off, it's always difficult to say. Afterall, convincing frankensteins can be built using genuine parts- An example would be my franken DateJust: Project 16234. Lots of genuine parts used. But, with the caseback removed, it's apparent that the watch is not 100%.
  17. Offshore- I suspect that the differences in pricing between US and Europe, Canada, Asia, etc has a lot to do with the consumer taxes paid on such a commodity. That's the only variable that I can see that would apply to such a wide difference in numbers across the board.
  18. I might have one for a 1570 in my box. I'll need to check when I get home...
  19. His first batch of PVD's are being shipped out today, so it will be a few days before anyone recieves theirs.
  20. Good news indeed! David has all kinds of good stuff!
  21. You'll want the newer version anyways.... Better dial, smoother movement... New- Old- The older case had a better rehaut, however but the CG's are yuck...
  22. The initial first version was (Asian and Swiss). The newest version with the 28.8bph Asian 7750 runs much smoother, at least in my experience.
