  1. Man, it's early! Franken Air-King time for me...
  2. Have no idea why crap like this happens!
  3. Yeah, Chi, I kinda like it so maybe I'll need to look for another to do "vintage"... Preacher, the 'goat covered most everything and I just measured a spring-bar tip and got about .034". I think I used a #60 drill (.040) when I drilled the Tudor Chrono case (Daytona) and it seemed to turn out about right...
  4. F, yet another on my "build someday" list - lookin' good, Bro! K, you got that right. It's quitet a shock to the equilibrium after wearing 34mm for so long!
  5. If you want a Rolex then a simple stick-marker, all stainless Datejust would probably be your best bet...
  6. Gonna wear the "Jumbo" today...
  7. goat - I haven't put it under the 'scope yet but I need to regulate it as it runs a bit faster than I like so I'll verify movement number then. LH - It is very light and when on the wrist it's easy to not even notice it's there.
  8. OK, just for KBH I swapped the guts into a case with sapphire crystal and fluted bezel. The resemblance to it's smaller cousin can't be denied!
  9. I was too lazy to drill any lug-holes today. Maybe this winter if I really get bored... You should get something in the mail today!
  10. I figured I should break out of the Tudor "rut" and build up a Rolex so I started looking for a suitable gen dial. Didn't want any gold, or diamonds, or anything else blingy, just wanted a nice light colored classy looking dial. I finally was lucky to snag this one off flea-Bay at a reasonable price. As far as I can tell it's an exact match in coloration and texture to my gen Tudor Prince Oysterdate! Mated to the gen dial is an ETA 2836-2 with the remainder being rep parts. The crystal is a Clarks and the bezel is an extra "" piece developed for a recent bad-a$$ Space Dweller project! Not very many pictures as we have all seen tons of DJs before but just enough for y'all to get the general idea. This will probably be the last piece I build for myself for quite some time.
  11. Thanks JoJo, a compliment from you is always welcome! After conferring with LH, and looking at gen pics, there will be rev. 2 of this with the longer hands, a 25-124 crystal, and a much larger bezel which actually hides the end-link to case interface and the "bulge". If this cyclops is in the wrong spot on the 25-124 I'll just grind it off and if it is a "flat" crystal I'll epoxy on a glass magnifier. Feedback from Gary is that he does not carry the 25-126 crystal and he knows of no one who does.
  12. Oooh, nice touch, that rasp!
  13. I'm glad everybody likes it. K, even though it seems "huge" on my wrist I'm going to try to adjust to it , but thanks for the offer !
  14. Yeah, it's a mind bogglin' thing to be sure...
  15. M, I don't have much hope finding any more cases as you apparently got the last one! I may just flog the other two dials and be done with it... But, I really do appreciate you parting with this case. :-)
  16. This from the President of the "Throw it out in the driveway and run over it for a few days" vintagizing club?
  17. Chiman, I would love to but this was the only case M had and the person he got the case from had none left. Also, after some research it seems the 25-126 crystal is somewhat of a rarity so I may have to "live with" the sapphire crystal...
  18. Bought a ticket and volunteered a set of hand pressers for the "prize pile"...
  19. Keep the Tudor intact and get a 36mm case to build your Datejust from. I have a 36mm Datejust ready to assemble as soon as I have the date wheel overlay issue sorted.
  20. I've been building a lot of Tudors over the past year and now, thanks to Ubi and mikellem, I have a very nice gen example of the 34mm Prince Oysterdate. When I received the watch the original folded link bands was about a link too short so Ubi, with his trade-mark generosity, sent me an old band I could rob a link from and I was finally able to wear it. I believe it is in original condition with original band and crystal and it's in super shape just needing a regulation as it runs a bit faster than I like.
  21. M, yeah, I thought about taking a file to it but I got lazy! R, I now have a 31mm, 34mm, and 38mm Prince Oysterdate Franken Lite's!
