OK guys, here's my problem: I bought a Rollie EXII Steve McQueen with a bad dial. Opened a WTB thread for a new dial, found one. The dial feet fit perfectly on my movement (which looks like an ETA, not sure if it's clone-ETA). BUT, the datewindow is a bit too large for the datewheel (which seems to be a standard ETA datewheel). I tried an overlay from a GMT IIc rep - fits perfectly into the date window but I can't use it, because it interferes with the gear-wheel I marked with the red arrow... Sooo... what can I do? Can I do anything at all? I suppose other date wheels or overlays won't work because of the gear in the way. So do I need a new dial? Thanks, Whatever

Hi Pete, got the same problem ... "Upload failed". It was working this morning, now something seems to be out of order... Cheers, Whatever -

Yeah, OK - the endlink fitting looks much better on the new pic. Strange effect in your fist pics... -

Yes, it's a shame... I am really sorry, caruwe. If I had expected I could have to work on that weekend I would't have said I'm in. It's not usual for me to work on weekends and this was a surprise... so much as excuse... I wish you guys a great evening! -
Submariner 2010 ceramic bezel - rep vs. gen
Whatever123 replied to Whatever123's topic in The Rolex Area
The case seems good enough, apart from the crown guard shape which isn't quite right. You will probably see it if you compare it to a pic of the gen. No big deal imo. Not sure about those links - seem solid though... -
Submariner 2010 ceramic bezel - rep vs. gen
Whatever123 replied to Whatever123's topic in The Rolex Area
Hmmm.... no one got the gen and the rep and could do a side by side review? I just received my ceramic sub rep and I have to say it s much better than I expected! Flaws that I can see (I'm no expert here...): - The bezel numbers are not white enough - The rehaut engraving is not correctly aligned - The crown guards are not quite correct (but who sees this anyway?) - Date cyclops size and mag seem to be a bit off and of course the cyclops lacks AR - The pearl, as usual... but it's not that bad actually Apart from those little thing the watch looks and feels great. Endlink fitting is very good by the way! Cheers, Whatever -
PAM 236 with A7753... Close to Perfection
Whatever123 replied to seraphe's topic in The Panerai Area
The watch looks great, as stated before it's a very good rep indeed... but that endlink fitting looks ridiculous... that gap is HUGE! Are the bracelets all like that? -
At 17.5cm you can wear them both, no prob at all. Personally I like the 42mm version better, but that's just my opinion.

Tips for selling and buying...............
Whatever123 replied to capice's topic in General Discussion
Personally I never ship uninsured if the value is over 100 euros. It's just not worth to take the risk. So I usually make prices incl. shipping and registered shipping is already calculated into the amount. This way there's no argueing with the buyer about the shipping costs... I've also had about 50 deals I would guess - very few shipping problems. One just recently where a watch was damaged. But it was a cheapo (only 30 euros), so I decided to refund the buyer instead of fussing about with the insurance (he did pay extra for insurance). -

Sounds a bit rude to me... maybe it's easy for you to plan a couple of weeks in advance, for me it isn't. Work may always come in the way on short-term notice. I don't like that, too - but that's the way it is... No offence, maybe I just took your post the wrong way... Cheers, W. -

Oh boy... I am sooooo sorry, but I won't be able to make it. Have to work on that weekend... -
Not neccesarily... There are gens that have quite strong blue AR, e.g. the G series. It's not the same on all PAMs!
-
Never heard of them - the site looks interesting though, especially those aged dials... But I can't see any prices - do you have to log in to see the prices or what's the secret?

Hi there! Great photos indeed, mate! AFAIK the midlinks should be brushed on the sub bracelet and polished on the GMT IIc bracelet only. And as far as the rehaut engraving is concerned - the R in ROLEX should be perfectly aligned with the 9 o'clock marker. Doesn't look like this is the case on your watch, seems slightly off. But this seems to be the standard flaw on this model as well as on the GMT IIc. Personally that wouldn't bother me. Is the endlink fitting as good as it looks? Cheers, W.

Hi guys, is there a rep vs. gen comparison of the new ceramic sub somewhere? Haven't found it... Thanks, Whatever

I think this IS your's, Pete... I got it from you and Star69 got it from me...

Good review, Frank! And great comparison shots as well! As I happen to know this LH 111 quite well... I totally agree with you. The finish of CG is just not good enough. And the T48 crown is a huge improvement imo! P.S.: I was really wondering about the strong blue AR on the gen 112... so this is normal for the G series? Cheers, Whatever123

I am not a watch professional... but I think, there still would be differences, at least in quality. The chinese movements lack the finish and "exactness" in manufacturing of their swiss counterparts. Doesn't neccesarily mean they are inferior function-wise...at least short-term - but if I would have to guess which movement is still running after, say 10 years... I wouldn't bet my money on the chinese one.
-
I doubt they will ever get the movement even remotely right. Look at the LH PAMs, even that movement is way off... But apart from that it's still good news. IMO better lume and CG would be neccesary.

The watch is for sale again. Haven't found the time to start a sales thread yet... I you're interested, PM me. P.S.: Those "Di-Modell" straps are available in several online shops.

Thanks for the review, great work! Definitely on my list the 236... -
I totally agree with Pete! And yes, all I can see looks gen. The movement is definitely gen.

Any long term health impact with rep rubber straps?
Whatever123 replied to cougaree's topic in General Discussion
Well, I guess we all agree that wearing rep straps won't kill us... still, we just don't know what's in them and that's why it makes sense to think about it for a sec... just my 2c... Has anyone found that post on RG where a guy has examined the steel in different reps? That was pretty interesting! -
Any long term health impact with rep rubber straps?
Whatever123 replied to cougaree's topic in General Discussion
Hmm, not sure... I mean there ARE regulations for import and products ARE exmanined if they come into the country by legal ways - at least here in Germany. Reps however are examined by noone and the factories have no regulations to obey. There was a great thread on RG where someone had examined the metal in different rep watches with scientific methods. Can't find it unfortunately... -
Tach Kollege! ;-) You're looking for Domenico (user Bricciola). Cheers, Whatever123 uh, too slow again...
