Thanks Lani I do like that watch but just when I thought I was learning about PAM designations I am back to my original confusion. This is designated a PAM 203 is it? My understanding was a PAM 203A was a PVD 44mm Prev Luminor Marina but the suffix A only related to year. Does this form of designation mean something different here and if so is there an idiots guide to this somewhere? Just when I thought I had it!!! If this is the case why would Panerai designate it in this way when normally its just a straight forward number designation For 138USD its a great rep watch.

Have you looked at the dealer section under reviews. That would be a good start. Personally I found them to be very communicative and helpful and watches were budget end. Wel the ones I looked at anyway

It was luck more than judgement mate. I know a fella that buys and sells gens. We were chatting about stuff generally he mentioned about some parts he had... when it sunk in what he said about five minutes later!!! I said I'd have it! Thats it mate. As I said pure luck.

I was left an old Omega pocket watch and from there I bought gen Omegas then Breitlings then PAMs from there I wanted more so Reps seemed a economical option If only I had known the truth before I became immersed!! I think what makes it better is the sharing of an interest with others and always learning something new. With reps the canvas is blanker and so you can create your own version so to speak. Through this I have learnt the history of that Omega pocket watch which makes it all the more special to me as do the other watches I own, they are not just from an AD, reps I mean now, they have a lineage an evolution which again makes them all the more interesting and nice to wear. The end product whether its the research or the building or both makes it more satisfying to wear and own.

I have been thinking about doing my own Super Avenger blacksteel. I have a gen dial for swapping. So my plan was to get a standard SA new or used. Possibly a V1 as I have a gen bezel somewhere. Then to get the case etc PVD coated or possibly DLC'd as it can by CC'd to give a PVD finish and is a far as I know give a better lasting finish. The only thing is I hate rubber straps both in look and feel so I was wondering if I could PVD or DLC a gen bracelet, is it practical to do given the screws links etc? If so does one coating suit this over the other? has anyone done this already? I think personally the pro1 would suit it better but what do you guys think? Any advice would be welcome. Thanks

I remember Lani mentioned the doming difference with the gen, I just wondered if DSN's Ultimate crystal was different to his seperately sold crystal for that reason but going on your reply its hit and miss! Personally I have found the easiest way to tell the difference from a gen to a rep with the distortion is the way the 9 and 3 reflect against the glass when you see a lume shot. I have never removed AR myself but I didnt think it was that easy, I know Chief advocated a mini buffer and some cream, cant remember name at moment (is it red something?) But I have read the CC will do it. I suppose it depends on whose AR it is?

Can anyone tell me if there is a difference in the crystal DSN supplies in his 127 or 217 ultimates to the gen crystal he sells seperately. Well he refers too it as gen I assume its Genlike? For $120 Amongst other things I refer to the shape of the crystal and the AR Thanks

Not sure who is pointing the finger in the context of that post. In my case it's usually two fingers!! And certainly I have done much worse in my life than anything reported about tiger but I don't make millions from my image if I did I would lie my ar-e off too!! I am definitely not taking the moral high ground all I am trying to say is if you get paid for goods or services or an image and you fail to deliver that then you shouldn't benefit from it and you should be called to account for failing to provide it. And I don't mean by the media I mean by the people that pay for it.
