  1. If you want to save money on watch and shipping go to the smaller dealers.... you can save around $40- $60 in total.... If you want a first hassle free buy go to TT or PC or PT.... you will pay more but you probaly wont get the noob worries that dealing with smaller delaers might bring... You will not save any money from TT or any of the dealers websites prices.... you will get QC pics...if you are unsure that what you see on the site is what you want then yes email the dealer... But as a first timer... just order from TT or PT etc direct from site.... you will get a few emails after ordering and depending on payment method... dont worry about these just follow the instructions... but if you are unsure please dont post the details you are questioning in any threads! You will get a tracking number and QC pics once payment is confirmed ...this can take a few days..depending on stock and ordering stock in.....REMEMBER ITS A NATIONAL HOLIDAY THERE TILL THE 6th OCT....sio nothing will ship till then and the makers are all closed... If you are unsure about QC pics then talk to the dealer direct..... or if happy just confirm that by reply Then a few days after that the tracking number will go live on EMS website and then in turn on Parcel force website...
  2. The striking thing about a gen RM is whether you know watches or not...they oooze quality.... the details arent important when comparing the rep to the gen as that gen quality is so far apart from any rep.... I mean miles.. and miles.... However it depends if you are trying to fool people or just trying to see what it might feel like to wear one.... in terms of it shape and look...design wise... As a simple watch its a nice rep..... as a replication of the gen its pretty poor... however I would wear it..... But if you are looking to pull one off as gen .... dont bother..... even though a watch like the RM is probably easier to spot as a rep by the look of the person wearing it..rather than the rep so much itself.... So if you want a decent enough watch with some distinct styling looks...then get one...it you want to fool people ..avoid it
  3. The DGs etc are cheaply made Chinese movements based on the seagull Chinese movements..... the 2813 is basically on par with a Miyota 8215...however it has similar sizing to any ETA 28**s.... there are variable in hand sizing etc but generally speaking.. Overall they are cheap movements which cost anything from $5 to $10 at best $20-30 at worst.... they are easy to work on but are not worth having serviced... so if you can do the work thats great but the movemnts are not worth the expense of a service....if you do have one that goes its better to replace... They tend to be used by the makers to replace 2836 movements...and as such tend to be hacky in thier sweep when compared to a 2836.... so you tend to be able to spot them from the seconds hands movement around the dial...or register. As with any Chinese made movement in reps... they vary mainly in quality.... so you can get one that will go on and on or you can get one that will last only a short time.... thsi is because they are sourced from different makers (not rep makers...movement makers who supply the rep makers)...so say a noob 2813 might vary in quality from say a BP makers 2813... however you also have to add in the other usual issues that effects all chinese and rep watch movements...that is dirt, over or under oiling and generally sloppiness in building, handling, storing and shipping I have had a few reps with these movements... generally if the gen has a well known clean sweep seconds hand I tend to avoid them but for lesser known models I have had them or if I want to try a cheaper version before committing to a new movement or better version rep... Out of the dozen or so i have had I would say the failure rate/quality has been around 75%... but that really is luck or rather bad luck... Overall they can be decent workhorses for budget reps.... but dont consider ever paying to get one serviced..... it really aint worth it given the cost of the service.... generally it would work out cheaper to get a ready to go Swiss... assuming you use your search skills or just a clone
  4. The gen is around £70 on the bay.... But removing the AR isnt usually that hard .... the easiest is the dremel and rouge.... I have taken off some really stubborn AR using that so what you say does surprise me...if that aint worked then I woudlnt be sure what to do apart from open up my cupboard and try every household cleaner I have THere was a guy sold his the other day ..he had removed AR in the same way... But you may get a rep from a dealer.... just email them direct mate..Rochest, Angus Mary should be able to source one from Noob or H maker.... but it will probably be similar price to buying the gen... after shipping
  5. I was going to say stop trying to get so friendly with those bears.... ! I can never say no to a good supply of rubber gloves.... talc'd only please !!
  6. He still does that for sales threads though !!! Looks sweet mike.... but on a mesh? .... I would like to see that before I say owt Congrats mate
  7. I forgot to mention offering lollipops out.....
  8. Well I do enjoy rubber gloves and anal examinations...does that count !!??
  9. If you cannot get what you need to recoup your costs ..then sometimes it works to part out your watches and sell parts individually.... That way you attract more guys and you can offer the parts on gen forums, rep forums and ebay Avoid using ebay...it isnt crciket to offer that sort of stuff on there however guys do and its your perogative....but even if it dont get pulled I would suggest you could leave yourself open to getting scammed yourself... i can just picture the conversation going back and forth in a PP dispute...no matter how well you described the item.... so dont just think about the protocols mate think about the riskd you open yourself up to if you sell it...
  10. I say it mate because on the AP ROOs that I have had there has been no AR...and if you look at the specs on the AP site and elsewhere you will see the ROOs do not have AR... A thin coating or thick coating of AR has nothing to do with whether it will scratch.... or will scratch easily.... the hardness of the AR whether thick or thin is is about the frequency and temperature of the baking time and the coating method used.... simply making that statement makes me doubt the veracity of everything else stated... There is also somewhere a very indepth article regarding the production of crystals for AP and RM that discusses why their crystals are specifically chosen and grown to avoid the use of AR... So I am not sure quiet why you would say that about ROOs mate... I am not basing my comments on simply regurgatated comments on here...
  11. That means something completely different over here mate..... if you ever get this side of the pond please never use it especially near public toilets !!
  12. He aint doing work anymore mate... If its AR for an AP you are after then wait out for Ryans AR cystal run for APs it almost perfected colourless...shouldnt be long mate.. he has done a few alreadyt that look very good but he wanyts better AP gens dont have AR ...its all about the crytsal quality... not AR mate... we just need to do it because rep crystals are flawed
  13. Aint worth it mate...easily doctored... Just check out the GD thread on it
  14. I'd be more worried about those pin lenses on your book shelf..... Also can you do me a favour...can you move that vase to the left...me and Nanuq cant see he whole sofa....
  15. I like Cosuins too but as you say the VAT is a forgotten cost until the basket..... There are a few places I prefer hence why I used this place so seldom.... I found from checking recent reviews they have been popular with TAG guys looking for parts and average loss has been around $100... which aint to be sniffed at... I needed a couple certain fonted date indicators... which I couldnt source elsewhere... well I couldnt here either it turns out !! But as long as everyone else considering using them is aware of the risk ...then I am happy
  16. I sent payment for mine ...you must have another one for sale.... Ummmm but something aint right ...just cant put my finger on it !!
  17. Yes mate ...thats SOP But please can you edit your post to remove those details..
  18. Generally DHL to Uk is faster.... However DHL can open up your packages ...they have on me a few times...but for some reason and according to my dealer they only look for certain brands.... Rolex as I recall should never go by DHL according to my dealer... Overall though i prefer DHL to EMS But you need to be aware that dealers vary in DHL/FedEx service.... this is because they use courier agents.... these guys take the package from the delaer and then forward on to DHL/FedEx etc... they are basically middle men... by using them the delaer can save costs because this agent has a large client list and therefore pays reduced rates to the courier.. Where the differences can occur is that the agent may take several days to get it to the courier.... some take it across to HK ...and by the time they take I always think its by Donkey !! So say you have DHL express that takes 3 days.... that 3 days only counts for when DHL have it...not the time it takes to get from the agent to DHL which can be a week or so depends on the quality of the agent and the price he charges...so just be careful when using those services as an extra cost to ems as you may not save anytime at all...
  19. I dont think so much that has changed mate....it is a subjective definition especially with the watch design..... for example if you talk about evening dress or formal dresswear in terms of clothes....many people view that differently and will atttend differently... even black tie can mean different things to different people... If you consider that rubber straps have been considered acceptable to dress watches since Hublot started in late 70s and early 80s even the Kings and Queens of Europe found them acceptable dress watches at that time.... I think the term dress watch is a wide ranging meaning.... Personally to me a dress watch is something that looks classy... but not necessarily classic...
