  1. Neither am I mate....and to be honest I aint sure you are permiited to post QC in the GD... but hey The issues with the PO are well documented...but yours dont look as good as the better ones I know this is macro so its a difficlut judgement as to what is bad and what aint noticeable but from the pics The 1 of 12 is off ...so is the logo below... the 6 marker and 9 marker aint straight look how they sit between markers etc....look at 3 for comparo on overall angle of watch..so it aint teh pic.. The pearl needs a better shot as I aint sure if it lighting reflection or glue The Rollie the 12 marker int staright to the crown below...the lume generally is pretty poor on these markers and well discussed but I did think the V2 had resolved this issue...so is it a V2? or have you bought it thinking its a V2? I would want to see a better shot of the cyclops bang on... Sorry like I said I aint no expert but tahts my POV mate
  2. I was Admin... please can you restore my privileges...
  3. I wish him well.... He is a good guy and alwasy a great help around the forums My thoughts are with you Reg
  4. Now that depends on the gen... Just spend some time on any gen forum and you will see they have similar problem to us..... especially with certain brands and models... So yes buy a gen.... it does make such a difference.... and its nice to have both.... but be careful what you buy... like rep makers and thier QC...gen makers have reputations too... some which int good.. You can see that in comments about AR being poor, being weak to scratch easy, Lume poor, DOA movemnets, crap straps, weak crown stems, etc etc he lists go on and on... I can get better AR after market than most gens give you.... Indeed many watchinista do aftermarket modding to gens for that exact same reason..be it lume/AR..etc etc So yes buy one /// but buy right And if its of interest... there plenty of gen makers out there that are keen to get a foothold in the market and so their prices are very very competitive...for the quality etc... and if you buy right it could be a good investment... All high brands started somewhere... just look at say PAMs.... those first models released in 1993 are now worth 30K plus going up to $100K... that is an extreme but you get the idea For a start have a look at this link for ideas against budgets... click 'Watch buying guide' to start http://www.ablogtowatch.com/
  5. Your typing that as you have other tabs open to dealer sites..... :)
  6. Given to you??!!! Of course you would........ We know you !!! Funnily enough I consider myself a PAM head .... I love them for a lot of reasons.... the History, the shape, the lume, that trademark dial... the strap [censored] I can be with them.... but most of all the anomalies that are created in its history with models and details and the fact no one answer is ever correct.... and if you think you know the answer then you dont really know PAMs... However that being said.... I havent worn one outside for a long time.... not becuse I dont feel the same...but because of the way its changed in the last few years...not just the gens but the reps.... I used to love talking about them...but now on the forums.... its not about collecting or understanding PAMs its about having the best OTB... no one wants to create.. which to me is what PAMs are all about.. People rely on certain individuals to tell them what is the best OTB and then spend thier time posting QC pics and asking for strap suggestions... it is a fashion... Truth is most of those guys who dont actually know what they are talking about.... they compare pics that shouldnt be used for a like to like comaprison.... they claim accuracy that aint there....and that then trickles in to sales forums.. I saw one today for a modded Noob 127 with a WSO crystal......it was described as same as gen, with same AR and distortion..!! Bollox! The WSO crsytal is nothing like a gen crystal NOTHING !!!..... yet because one guy posted a rake of pics and evryone joined the bandwagon suddenly we have a consensus that is wrong.... I am seeing PAMs being sold now that guys rate as 'super reps'...they are just good...frankens that are just fitted with some ETA parts.... and guys thinking because of a comment on a thread its accurate... The key to enjoying any watch beit gen or rep and what made PAMs so interesting and enjoyable was going out and finding out from many sources for yourself.... not just waiting for a small number of guys to post a thread saying what they think and then everyone taking that as gospel....... and anyone that does question those threads or statements in them get flamed by guys that wouldnt know a gen PAM if they were beaten to death with it.... So you are best off out of it... its all about fashion and wanting the best that guys can fool thier mates/work colleagues etc with.... hopefully that crowd will move on soon...but while gen PAMs are fashionable with arses in the real world it follows that PAM reps will do them same
  7. OMG.... this is like reading a controlling method from a drug addict !!!
  8. LOL! I find the middle scene funnier than the punch line...
  9. LOL !! Hope you aint trying to give all bears a bad reputation
  10. Funny my daughter uses same way to text speak...
  11. Search the term 'Oil Bath' mate There are a lot of methods that guys swear by .... this way you can see the options
  12. eBay.de..... usually ahs them used for anything from 50 to 100 euros But go direct on that site... and only use U-Boat or U boat....... or can use german for strap like Uhrband etc
  13. Out of interest.. Which 50 is which?
  14. Shouldnt this around in a circle...with you standing up and introducing yourself... One day at time mate...one day at a time.. Or is it one watch at a time..?
  15. In which case you can go with a gloss finish lacquer as above.... that would lift the dial... but the lume thats something different mate.... if you want that to lift then a different appraoch is needed..but as I said all depends on the dial itself... UV wont really lift lume... but TBH I am not sure what you are trying to achieve from your description...
  16. I wonder if the gen makers ever saw a fantasy rep and then decided to gen it...???
  17. If you are going down the Mary Shelley route then it will have to be called Monster watch.... uber monster..... or super monster.... or my personal favourite ....monster munch... Other than that.... the term franken is no different to terms like Tri-Compax or deployment.... blah blah blah.... different strokes to different folks Call it what you want...if you are selling....and let the buyer decide what he is buying.....
  18. Removing UV under the crystal is best served by coating the dial.... most brands do it....of course it depends on the dial... but generally using a UV resistant lacquer would help.. this protects the dial and helps reduce those reflections... OP for example used a Zapon lacquer finish on thier galvinised dials...this can be bought in 2 pack applications and with various UV protective strengths But it comes down to the dial, its material and finish... If you go with someone like Domi's AR...his current AR coating is extremely durable and therefore good enough for a double sided coating and is very strong in refraction at all angles Domi can also provide a good lacquer as I gave him a load of professional grade UV lacquer to do some dials for me So he has plenty left over
  19. I asked him... He just told me to get out of his bathroom.... He was pretty rude actually....and he made me leave the underwear >>>>
  20. No...I got it now... Its that bear that nicks your food...he broke in to your house ...stole your mobile (cell) and car keys and went joy riding and sent you a text pic to your Mrs' phone....
  21. No....! In someone else's car...? No..No.... wait! In a rental car..?
  22. Mate you are asking for something that covers so much information that it couldnt possibly be answered in a single thread.... Sapphire crystals are graded..... Sapphire has an infinite number of grades: Grades are entirely arbitrary and are decided upon after inspection of each synthetic sapphire batch which has been grown. • Synthetic sapphire is graded by what is important for a particular application, either optical or mechanical • A high grade of sapphire would have little or no light scatter or lattice distortion and be used mainly for the most demanding optical applications • A lower grade of sapphire may have extensive light scatter or lattice distortion, being used mainly for mechanical and structural uses such as bearings, fixtures, and less demanding optical applications • An ultraviolet (UV) grade sapphire or non-browning sapphire will not solarize on exposure to UV light • An infinite number of grades fall between the high and lower synthetic sapphire grades, with each sapphire manufacturer giving a name to their own grades The best quality/graded crystals dont generally need AR...for example AP crystals are amazingly clear so are RMs ...on most of there range In looking at the crsytal you look at shape, fit and opacity and clarity and refraction in light both natural and artificial.. AR too varies....quality and strength, application and method, etc etc....a strong quality AR can easily be placed both sides however tool watches or lower grade AR should be internal.... Gen AR varies because of different suppliers, different models or years etc etc...you can get a blue hue AR on a PAM one year and that same model could have a grey hue the following year..etc..Some gen brands have 'trademark' AR hues to thier crystals like Breitling... You need to decide if you are trying to replicate a gen AR or just want the best AR you can get.... once you decided you can chose your source for AR.... its not just about hue...its also about the strength of the AR in terms of light refraction and also in terms of being worn and used... the hue is only one consideration.. There are many guys on the forum who offer AR...you would need to research them individually and chose based on what you want... It also matters on the type and quality of crystal being ARd.... some cheaper lower grade crystals will react differently after coating to that of a higher grade...so you can have 2 crystals of different qualities that get the same coating at the same time and look different under lighting or against the dial...indeed even the dial and its markers or lume can effect the look of the AR...say you get an AR with a greeny hue.... it may be very slight on a white dial but on a black dial it will look stronger add to that a greeny lume on the dial that slight greeny hue on the AR will look even stronger...the variations go on and on... and only specific questions can be answered on that... there is no general answer Crystal sapphire types go on and on ..just look at corundum etc Crystal shape and thickness always makes a difference...and again it varies so much you would need to be more specific.... but look at say a DSSD that is 6 or 8mm thick...at angles its completely distorted...look at a PAM LM thats 3.5mm thick and distorts ...at angles and also lays concentric rings around it as you turn the angle.. Cyclops can be very useful again it depends on the size of the DW...in turn decided by the movement etc..or the design... then you have the AR, Crystal quality, dial style, etc etc..... cyclops can be very helpful and at the end of the day they are a buyers choice
