  1. I am glad you raised this issue Andy it is a worry that someoine might ignore the rules and try and post here...which would be a total breach of the aforementioned rules..... it could result in all sorts of repercussions... I am always concerned that rules should never be broken and consider this an opportunity to reach out publicly and warn guys not to...I mean any guy that would break such rules would have to be on crack...!!! and if you are then please REMEMBER......
  2. My edit is going odd I meant to say that the reps wont look as good especially the Kobe mate... they never get the dial right
  3. Remember that sub dial at 9 is a 1/8 sec on gen....... so if you saw the gen it would be flying round all the time..... it really stands out on the gen...The first has a different set up as its a Kobe its based around a basket ball match and set up for 48 minutes..I think the subdials also vary but I aint sure On the rep it is a minute to go round.... so a 60 sec revolution...so anyone who knows these HBs would know immediately its a rep However I like them and had a few myself over the years If you go to Josh or Andrews site you will see actual pics from QC so you will see how they actually look.... plus at Angus site there is a video of them... Value wise they aint holders so be ready to lose some money on them if you dont like them... and the straps aint great...decent but not great
  4. You would be able to source these from dealers assuming you want rep.... just email someone like Angus at Puretime, Rochest at Watchesinternational or Sead at Supermirrors etc etc Just go to TD section and email them direct. However if you want gen then it depends where you are....sometimes you can see them on eBay.... but make sure you are serching everywhere and that your search parameters are for 'located any country any region' But you will find many ADs on the internet selling gen UB straps... as I said just depends where you are.... I found a few in Germany and a few in UK...like Jura watches etc But UB gen straps are pricey and given a UB classic is very cheap a gen strap would be a big move up...
  5. So why not start a new thread and help out the newer members with your experience.... that way the info stays fresh and current and helps you to get more involved in the forum Congrats on your new buy...wear it well mate
  6. Totally agree with all the comments here ...DS is great source for straps and the quality is extremely good.... I have owned many of them in my time with PAMs.... But I would just mention to anyone looking for PAM style straps .... that there are many options ... some as good as DS some better some much worse But if you want to try one I would suggest going for a used DS first.... A new order is expensive if you are unsure of what you want... and it does takes a little experience to pick something you will keep and enjoy... There are also many other strap makers that are worthy of mention when talking PAM straps...and prices can vary significantly... DS does carry a premium because of its kudos with the Risti and its heritage...though not as over priced as MP !! . so remember to search and look around especially on gen forums...and especially on Risti and VP... you will find a world of knowledge and experience of straps for your PAMs Great post mate
  7. As P states its always imperative to buy the seller not the watch or rather the seller first... beware with cold calls just as you would at your own front door.....never assume because of FB or posts (whether high or low) that you can automatically trust or distrust the member or indeed length of membership.... if ever in any doubt do as here post a thread or contact someone you do trust.... or if not a mod.... Anyone can sell anything for what they want .... we may not like what is being asked for it, but thats a seller perogative.... however its the buyer responsibilty to satisfy himself that whatever the price whether $100 or $3000 that the watch is worth that to him and amongst our peers...if in doubt ...post a thread and ask or just PM someone like a section mod or someone you know that knows his stuff. It should always be a red flag when a stranger (to you) regardless of FB posts etc contacts you to sell something.... but that doesnt mean its fishy of course Personally I found the level of the price requested was almost laughable.... but its worrying to think that someone might buy it.... I am sure the guy has his reasons for his pricing and shouldnt be ashamed or worried about stating those reasons..indeed as a potential buyer you should expect it and ask for it... You should ask for a breakdown of the value in the sellers view along with who did what, who provided what and its history... then if you wnat it but consider it too much then counter with what you value it at and give an explanation in return of those reasons... (assuming of course you are happy to deal with the guy) Even stating a service should be backable with some form of proof.... or if it cant be then as a seller you need value its worth on that basis and also as a buyer... plus never ever BT anything unless you are very comfortable with the guy you are dealing with There are plenty of guys on here I would trust without a second thought..... and probably many more I havent had the privilege to deal with yet... However... there is the odd greedy, profiteering or out right scammer that does appear now and again and as a community we are strong enough to deal with them... so anyone reading this no matter your feedback or newness or even seniority...dont think twice about asking the community... we are all here to look after each other if we can and pass on our own knowledge and experience
  8. What you need to remember about the way reps are produced is that all parts or components are made by several factories that are mployed by the makers...the mkers generally only put the parts together.. However ...they order the necessary parts... they make a payment for a certain number...which can be in the 1000s to reduce costs.... depends on the model and likely sales... but at least 500... so once these are bought the maker will only consider an upgrade or change once all stock has sold and not before.... chances are these flaws are the original flaw and the original ordered batch is still being sold.... It is also possible that sometimes our comments feedback are not seen or passed on to the maker or indeed they just ignore it..... You can see that exact issue with the current LMPOs ...these are having serious issues with the dial but the maker is still pushing the bad dials through dealers... of course once all sold they will put it right... assuming they believe they can sell more... Most of the poorer stuff (quality wise etc) usually goes to drop shippers and guys ordering outside the comfort of these forums..
  9. I know the last few times I sent emails to Sillix...it took 5days for one reply and 7 for teh other.... but I cant comment on the service as the responses were too late and unhelpful in terms of what I needed to find out ....
  10. If you are on about the KP London mate...then its only available at the London Boutique....you need to contact them direct As for getting it made..... a maker sometimes makes up a watch if parts are out there... but this would be from scratch mate and so the maker would need a large incentive and a large minimum order to make it...
  11. I do like that dial..... Its the Hublot KP London.... It reminds me of the KP Cathederal which is the bollox of the KP line.... As said mate you wont find a rep of this...the only white dial rep KP I have seen is the Oceanic 4000m ...its a fantasy rep but does look nice... other than that you wont find anything like that.... But there are plenty of KPs that are repped.....
  12. Here is a link to probably the best Skeleton you will see of a HBB.... its been modded and is up for sale here...pricey yes but given its Tourbillon and modded so well...its good value http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=213951 Sorry thats the VIP link here is the regular link http://www.repgeek.com/showthread.php?t=213952
  13. Reps really come down to the market as any product.... or rather good reps... Putting aside the issue of movements etc Makers have to invest a lot with their subbies to create and then produce ... they work on non refundable payments and minimum quantities... so that investment must guarantee a return... sticking to the more saleable or popular models ensures that return... its really that simple... there are many threads here that discuss how the process works which are worth looking for... However you will I am sure be able to find something that is repped and good quality that your dad will like... what you need to do is expand your criteria and maybe even your thinking in that regard.... Maybe start with the more basic things....size, shape, quality, accuracy, strap/bracelet, dial face type (eg. roman, lume, subdials, colur etc), then also material, SS or RG etc then possibly brand.... you can start very quickly to hone it down to something your dad will like and wear and taht maybe he aint thought of yet... maybe a Frank Muller or a Roger Dubois or a Cartier..etc etc There are some great reps out there but you need to widen your search parameters to start with and you might be pleasantly surprised. As for complications etc... yes makers avoid these as much as they can and stick to standard movements which on occasion they modify to meet a particular models requirements.. so then by doing so they are limited by case sizes, DW position, sub dial positions etc etc.
  14. There are some new versions of the RMs mate large and small..I can never remember the designations.... is it 11 and 09? If there is a 55 out there mate it will be bloody awful... canal street junk.... If you want a decent OTB rep then I would really suggest the HB versions... but the RM11 is a nice watch..well built just not accurate ... plus the early release had the T missing off the Titanium on the side of the case ... But there are other Skeleton type reps that might fit the bill..... but it really is best to search one dealers site.... they ten not to vary too much ...an it will give you an idea...and if you find something but say its only in RG then its worth contacting dealer direct and asking if its available in SS etc7 Personally if I was after one I would start by conatcting someone like Sead an asking what is your take on any decent skeleton reps out there around 45mm etc...these guys know alot about whats available and what is cheap and what is decent
  15. When it has said that for me in GZ it just means it has gone through customs for dispatch... EMS tracking info does change in its terms every so often mate..I am pretty sure i noticed differences last time ...a few weeks back All countries taking outgoing international packages go through customs... in US for UK it generally goes through NY ICS... It doesnt necessarily mean you have had it seized mate... Once through customs it is put on a flight...now these are mail flights so they tend to stop at various countries and cities on its way to you.... these are slow flights and are not direct...some packages then sit there waiting for the next onward flight... For example all UK parcels stop in Frankfurt or dussellorf and can sit there for a few days or go that day... the timing is longer than normal but not unusual And even in the event it has been seized..(which would be stated) the dealer will resupply you mate at no cost
  16. Was like that for me last month!
  17. Maybe we could use our contacts in GZ to start a line in rep cardboard boxes...first off we need to find a material that looks like cardboard feels like cardboard but I don't think we will be able to put anything in them... After all they will be reps! We Could save a fortune but we would need a new phrase for best OTB !!! Need to ask admin to create a new sub forum too so we can post our boxes
  18. If you ever want to sell those cardboard boxes let me know....
  19. Swings and roundabouts mate..... you got .....Paris Hilton....Micheal Moore.....Kim Kardashian...and JohnEdwards
  20. It may help to also search Sinn parts... In the late eighties Breitling went bust and Sinn bought several designs from them inluding teh 850s etc... thats why you see Sinn Navitimer models for sale... now some of those early parts Sinn used are the exact same... In addition it all depends where you look mate... I assume you have done the usual places but have you looked on the gen forums plus Chrono... many smaller gen general watch forums have parts for sale .. Plus another tip if looking on the bay is to go to specific ebay's like ebay.de, ebay.fr or ebay asia....then search only the term Breitling as the rest will be in that ebay's language...you will find many parts for watches you wouldnt normally find on ebay.com etc but you must go on that ebay site...not just use the ebay.com search Other than that its down to patience and choosing a suitable watch model to franken.... there are also guys you get to know around the place that can source ...for example if you see a seller that sells Breitling parts regularly then you need to contact him direct and ask if he has or can source and generally when he gets those parts he will contact you direct... Its all about networking mate..and time In addition you need to understand what you can do with what you have got and how it can be adapted or what parts might be comaptible with the model you are after parts for...just looking for Navitimer is not always the best way...for example there may be crossover parts with other models... its the same with movements... you can find movements from your choosen model in many other non related models...which generally are cheaper And dont get caught up in using the term Tri-Compax mate..... techinically it doesnt mean what you think...its been bastardised over time but it was a term created by Universal Geneve and relates to a set of complications on thier watch..which was a moon phase calender etc...their first model was a compax which still had a 3.6,9 subdial arrangement... Its a bit like the way guys say deployment instead of deployant...meanings change but not all watch guys use it.. so when asking you may not get teh response or understanding you expect as to many watch guys Tri-Compax means something completely different...(both technically and historically) Its just a 7750 (7754) with a 3,6,9, ....
  21. No on the vision mate But there are skeleton and Tourbillon Hublot BBs and there are some poor RM tourbillons... but I wouldnt bother with them. Personally I would PM "Flying Dutchman" he is an afficienado on Hublot skeletons etc They are on the trusted dealer sites mate for example http://www.ttw888.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=279_382&sort=20a&page=1 http://www.puretime.co/category/big-bang-tourbillon/all/
  22. Its more for that mate ...but also for when buying from other members.... if you want to maximise your insurance whilst minimising or balancing your costs of import its handy.... also sometimes orders from TDs have attracted customs charges.... there is a guy in UK thats posted just recnetly on Josh's section that he has a charge pending ... But whether watches or anything else....straps, toys, anything its a handy tool
  23. Have you had a card? As if it was an actual attempted delivery will leave a card in your letterbox mate or.... If not then chances are it means its on the delivery van for Monday... as I have never known PF to deliver on a Saturday but it could also mean that a letter has been sent to state you need to pay some charges but that I really doubt as its not in the schedule you list above (ie Awaiting customs charge) For Reference: both RM and PF state attempted delivery if they have sent out a letter/card to say you need to pay customs charges.. daft I know but tehy obviously dont have that choice when updating tracking...
  24. Mate I wasnt expecting that... I couldnt see nothing...just wanted a "Gotcha" moment
