Hello mate... Welcome I dont know why but I am just envisaging that you live near the Chocolate Factory......
-
Thanks mate Is this an updated version? You mention you got it a while back...recently the maker has been rolling out updated versions...the main difference has been the Lume and AR... but it varies... not all models have been updated yet.. I have an Ultimate...they havent updated the spelling error on the CB but the lume is better as is the pearl and AR... Another thing for anyone worried about scratching their deployant clasp and it showing...thinking the gen is tegimented...(hardened steel) Sinn offer 2 versions of the clasp...one is tegimented and one is BB standard SS.... so dont worry about scratches on the rep How about a lume shot now you have modded it Thanks again

MD2020 Who is dealing with him, I'm worried now!

From my own experience in dealing wih modders/watchsmiths...I have never compared them or had expectations from them that I would expect from business' in the real world (so to speak).. I have had many many watches modded/worked on over the years and have used near on every watchguy on the forums.... their service and terms of service all varies and the length of time I have waited has too..I think the longest was 9 months... I accept that time as part of the rep game and certainly the modding game... and in that instance it was due to sourcing a part... but it is not unusual to be waiting 3,4,5 months for a watch mod job of say lume, service and AR.. I would say 3 months is a minimum in most cases including shipping etc and not allowing for personal issues and holidays etc that the watchguy is having.. I have never considered those times to be excessive .... but the one thing I always expected and always got was a regular update... Now again I dont always expect a personal update...sometimes modders/watchsmith will post an update on their section or in the general discussion.... and simply it says ...that things/work has slipped..for what ever reason... and orders will be delayed... if I see that then I switch off for a month.. That is and always has been enough for me in the game that is.... I would also accept it in this case ..regardless of some of the comments here... and that, IMHO is the only part of this saga that I would ask from any modder... I really feel for Mike... he has proved himself to be a good member around here and was only trying to offer an option to us guys...OK maybe he took on more than he should and/or didnt realise just how quickly doing work like this can impact on your normal life and in your original timings.. I have seen it so many times before... I can also understand how he reacts to some of the comments and tone in thsi thread... we can all react on the offensive when we feel we are under attack and sometimes the need to remove how you personally feel is hard to remove from these situations and in your reaction... I also understand how over whelming this sitaution can be and how threads or rather commments within threads like this can only add to that sensation and emotional turmoil... I am sure Mike will comethrough for every one and I think that the help he is getting from other guys to try and get things back on track can only help... But I would suggest that we allow some time/space and maybe have a central point for updates so that there is a chance for outstanding works to be assessed and then returned/completed etc etc... We cant allow ourselves to add to that turmoil by building up a negative momentum.... I was reading about the tragic news of Reg the other day..... and I in no way want to comapre his situation to this...I do think some responses from guys in respect of that news does highlight ( Thier first response was to start PMing guys asking about thier orders and money) the need of us as a community to take a breath and allow some space and time for Mike to reflect and start getting things back on track.... I am sure if we let him he will... I am sure some of you wont agree or even understand what i am trying to say.... it is just my pennys worth... from my own experience in dealing with modders... -
In which case I would contact admin mate and explain who and what... etc But in the first instance let them help you...and if you see any of his sales post I would post in it that you are still awaiting a reply and confirmation that he has sent your watch...
-
Have you checked to see if the member has log in on here since your messages? Was the watch bought from a sales thread here? How was the shipping advertised or what did you agree? Did the guy confirm it was posted or any message after you made payment? Maybe if you can answer these then the advice can be more specific to your concerns But I applaud your initial post and wording

I want the recipe to mikes Ribs and Decks pudding for afters..... But alas I can only dream.... I must go and prepare my dins...

Those pics highlight how the gen AR makes such a difference to the dial...and on the wrist compared to rep One day maybe... Daft really as if you take say the AR coating from a $140 rep Sinn it is almost perfect for this rep....

So what if I want to print my own movement date disc ?
PeteM replied to db1's topic in General Discussion
If you want a specific type without having a gen to use for replication and starting from scratch..... It would be easier to contact all those gen dial sellers.... you could well find they have access to gen DWs ...whether damaged (for replication) or good enough to use for your build. But another alternative is to contact guys that have done it before for them selves...there are plenty of threads on it.. Some have built or had built full wheels from scratch...but those are minimum order and you will need to ensure the choice of movement will meet demand...or you can appraoch guys that have done overlays... One guy springs to mind... who does many overlays for his modded Rolex's.... which many of us buy from him... h would tell you what would work..if you ask nicely..but you will need the gen.... or a macro of each number...otherwise it aint worth the effort -
Reading from Nembo on RG.. He has spoken to Reg's family and they explained he hit his head hard on the pavement after a fall.... He is making a recovery and will be allowed out of ICU tomorrow if the bleeding dries up... I am only repeating what Nembo was kind enough to share... Hopefully he will be able to make a full recovery...

Personally I find Ofrei cheaper...and if you ask a US friend they can receive and then send on to avoid customs charges.. but there is also a way to order direct from Omega US in NY...there is a discussion on RG about it...and apparently its way cheaper from them for NOS... its in the Omega section Then there are usual other sources such as Chrono24, eBay, and gen forums, a WTB can attract all sorts of sources...plus there is a guy in Oz that is one eBay that can source loads of Omega stuff ...you just have to PM him...I cant recall his name but he is defo selling a Vintage RM bezel at the moment on ebay so you can find that and contact him direct... There are also several guys in UK and in US that do nothing else but deal in vintage Omega parts... they can source loads of stuff... but sometimes they need case numbers or part numbers it depends on model.. You can usual get part numbers off Ofrei but you can also contact Omega UK ..I have the parts dept direct email if you want it ... but if you contact them you need to have some basic details from a gen to say its yours ...ie sound like an owner or guy who has bought a broken gen who cant afford to go through Omega servicing... etc etc
-
go for the 300 mate.... if you are up for the budget But I reckon you will find a lot of what you need about without going NOS from Ofrei cousins etc but beore you commit check or have checked that movement..
-
Just go the sites I mentioned or any TD site ...you will find them there mate as well as others... Thats exactly what i or any one would have to do to get you the links...
-
If you go to the smaller dealers mate you will get exactly same watch for less money and cheaper shipping
-
Great news mate.... thanks for sharing Hopefully things will only improve.... but i know it is still a long way to go...I wish him the strength to get through it
-
Go to trusted dealer sections ... Go to perfectclones (Josh) (Josh puts his HBBs as Aroxia at top on left menu) Go to TrustyTime (Andrew) Go to Puretime (Angus) Just go on each site and check out the HBB KPs there mate
-
Or that same thing you do with homes for holidays.... swap for a few weeks..
-
I dont know it...but you hum and I'll play it ! But it sounds like it is from my favourite film.... Carry on Cleo " Infamy Infamy...they've all got it in for me.... "

Looks nice mate...is there any chance please if you could snap it next to something else.... like a PAM, Rolex, Ling or something or even a ruler I would really like to see the size of how these look... if you dont mind Congrats mate looks sweet Are you still unsure about it...? Given the plastic
-
Mike have you ever thought about knocking in nails with those 'ammers !! Up until last year I can honestly say I had only seen 2-3 genuine PAMs in the wild.... but in recent months I will see at least one every day.... of those I get close enough to I have spotted at least a third as reps.... even so called super reps....as they are despite what many say they are easy to spot... however with most other marques like you Mike with PAMs I am not so sure I could tell.... Did I mention i work in a PAM boutique !!
-
LOL ! Obviously ?!?!.... you snob !! I can do that..." Is this a dagger I see before me.... or a bad Rolex crown..?"
-
They have really taken off in the gen world too mate..... especially China and US..its a real trend setter at the mo... Getting pretty big in EU to now ... wearers are referred to as Eurotrash in some popular reviews
-
I take it you are referring to Stallones acting when you use the term 'brute'
-
The idea ...I like ... The practicalities I am hesitant of... T&Cs, deposits, events of loss, damage etc...I mean it aint hard to scratch these up without abuse...so do you get stung on rebrushing etc etc then issues that mayb e more warrnty related could end up being held over you...like garages try to do if you aint savvy.. Then those sorts of issues if you end up with a watch thats already had a few users...etc etc... I think try before you buy is better suited for reps ..... thats really the best way to try it out... Its also a great way to scam punters...I have thought of a few while typing this
