  1. And that's why I don't let anyone else drive my car if I'm not in it.
  2. That was mine. I sent it in an envelope, or box or something. And it had a label with your address on the front.
  3. Built a few weeks ago, but I've been busy at work, finally have a few free minutes to post some halfway decent pics. The guts of this build are from the Noob Sub-C (dial has wrong "f" but correct spacing in OFFICIALLYCERTIFIED), hands are from helenarou, case is from Timesshops. This is *not* the same supercase as the last time I built a super-sub-C. Not sure if it's a different run from the factory or if they've switched production. Rehaut engraving is quite good, not quite the same as the other version but still excellent. Unlike the last version of the super case (not sure what I'm going to call these things) this one will not take a gen crystal. Fortunately, for the no-date I don't care, since there's no AR on this crystal. Surprisingly for a model with press-in crystal, it has a nice shiny rehaut ring. Also, the crown position is high and excellent However, the caseback doesn't sit flush. The last super case had that problem too but I swapped the Noob caseback onto it; this one uses a different thread size and the Noob case doesn't fit. Also (and this does bug me a bit) the ceramic insert sits quite high in the bezel. Not crazy high but there is a noticeable lip. I've tried a couple of things to recess it with mixed success. Painted the insert with platinum paint and installed a PbDad pearl as well. Overall happy with it. The no-date is definitely growing on me.

  5. I always throw in a dial spacer, I think relying on the movement ring like that is kind of janky.
  6. I have too, but like I said, it's pretty rare. When you pry on a gen-style bezel it pops off. And typically when they get bent they won't turn anymore.
  7. Pretty rare with a gen-style bezel like a TC. Bezel rings getting bent typically only happens with noob-style paper clip construction.
  8. I don't think the Exp 42 uses a DWO at all--from the pics I've seen it just uses a standard ETA datewheel with the dates printed in Rolex font, just like the movement shown above. Also, a standard DWO can be fitted to this movement. I have two of them with BK DWO installed running just fine.
  9. Also, there's no guarantee that it would fit in your rep.
  10. This bezel insert is not a noob Hulk bezel insert. Uhh... thanks for sharing?
  11. BK or TC, if you're willing to go with a modern font datewheel. If you want open 6/9, I sourced these from Trevor a while ago but I don't have any left, you could try emailing him
  12. That's the MBW kit? The dial is pretty good. That's the hardest part to source right now, I wonder if they'd sell it separately.
  13. Yep. Less than $60 in parts unless you go gen on the crystal.
  14. FYI, the wholesaleoutlet bezel insert is gen-spec, you need to do the same grinding and fitting as you would with a gen insert.
  15. This is the wholesaleoutlet orange bezel with a vaclumed pearl on a franken UPO
  16. That looks like a FineDD AR'ed cyclops. I know Uwe used to do huge batches of them. I installed one once (wasn't happy with it, ended up going gen) and that purple hue looks very similar.
  17. I've owned the same bracelet, and it looked exactly the same.
  18. This watch had a problem, the crown was too tall/thick Other than that the crown was pretty nice, and a gen didn't fit the tube, and I didn't feel like messing with a tube change tonight. So I chucked the crown up in the poor man's lathe: put a sanding disc upside down in the dremel, and trimmed the bottom of the crown. Took off about 1.1 mm. I think it's a big improvement.
  19. 1) for that price, if you can't find hands you can buy the movement, use the DW as an overlay on another movement and junk the rest. 2) a lot of the cheap homages on the 'bay (Voom, etc) use that movement, you can source hands from there 3) the dates 22-30 suck on that DW
  20. UPDATE: I finally got around to changing the crown and tube. The crown that this new superlumed GMT IIc rep comes with is absolutely god-awful. Shape is entirely wrong, it's almost completely flat and the coronet sucks. You can see it very obviously in the first pic of this thread. Unfortunately, the rep tube will not take a gen-spec crown and I wanted to get the build done so I didn't deal with the crown at the time, but I had time today, so gen-spec tube and WM9 crown are now installed. I cut a slot into the old tube and unscrewed it installed the new tube and crown and reassembled the watch. Made a huge difference. You can mod the spring since it's right out in the open. Clicks firmly with almost no play.
  21. Take another look at my post above. I DID NOT QUOTE YOU AT ALL. So calm down there, champ. I wasn't talking to you. This forum is full of statements from people saying that the GMT modded clone ETAs are junk and the DG3804 is a true GMT-designed movement.
  22. Here's a pic of a 3804 as compared to a 2813 They are the exact same movement. All parts will interchange, with the exception of the additional parts to operate the GMT wheel: the GMT wheel itself, the extra gears that allow it to be adjusted from the stem, and the wheel which drives the GMT gear. Same deal with a 2893-2. Here's a pic compared to a 2892 Again, the only differences are in those few parts. A GMT movement from the ETA factory is just a regular movement with a few additional parts added. The GMT modded 2836 from the Chinese factories works exactly the same way. The only difference is, the additional parts were designed and built by a Chinese factory instead of a Swiss one. Is the Swiss one better? Probably. Can the Chinese one work just as well? Yes. Is it stupid to say that the "DG3804 is a true GMT designed movement" while the "Asian modded 2836 with GMT is a piece of junk"? Yes, it's completely stupid. The movements work in exactly the same way. The differences come down to details of construction. The concept is exactly 100% identical.
  23. The NOS 2846s I have purchased were perfect out of the box.
