  1. newer Seagull ST19 Daytona cases have nothing in common with DW stuff. DW supposes to supply material from makers who are supposed working under Rolex specs. I suppose DW uses same material from the same origin than NDT, J&W or Yuki, No mystic DW looks like the third actor, excavating the dustbins of the majors, NDT or J&W or Yuki... It should be very interesting to fly to HKG and investigate to discover the rep world's who's who These new lines of cosmographs from the cartel, using Asian copy of bi-compax movements with a frozen hand at the supposed third subdial, are not built in the way to adapt Valjoux movements. Stop the dream.
  2. this dial is excellent, perfect, dont discuss more, stop to turn your finger in your ass trusting rep forum considerations, seriously, this dial is perfect buy it and good luck for your project !
  3. exactly, If I remember well -have to check with the Mondani book- the only difference on gen cases in the internal chanel used for the little screwed metal tags to hold in place the movement. Because Rolex company drilled 2 new holes at a different location and high in the Valjoux movements plate to hold the movement in place. As freddy said, playing around with a dremel is enough in rep cases. And if effectively rep cases made for Valjoux movement have really gen Rolex case specs, you will have only to modify the metal tags or add little pieces of metal
  4. I use a paper pencil and one of my finger or blotter to spread out the gray and fix it over the white, cannot better explain in english artist painters method
  5. if you have a standart white DWO you can make it silver using pencil lead (fat HB ref.)and blotting paper, works also with graphite powder and your finger to fix it
  6. http://www.atelierducadran.com/ Its located in Paris, France. If your dial is a good rep stamped Singer or Beyeler or a gen, they will do it. Don't send a bad rep one with vrong subdial spacing. But its expensive : Due to the large number of sticks, dots and fonts used, to assure an exact reproduction of your dial, they will first take a photo of your dial. They, engrave a plate, they re-print your dial by tempography process, and refinish sticks and lume dial photography : 180 euros refinishig : 150 euros
  7. Lot of specialists have a doubt about the reality of this PanAm story and its hard to prove this watch existance. I interesting links exist but its in French About watch in equipment, in France for exemple the chronograph Dodane is used in AF, old Air France pilots from the B727 division have Sinn watches. But no Dodane or Sinn claim Air France and the French Air Force pilots use these watches as essential tool watches... The only proved "aeronautical" story and certified by the Rolex company is the 1675 with the blue insert for Italian, Peruvian and Emirates Air Forces You should be also careful when using members pics on gen watch forums as most of the time a right clic and a clic on "image propriety" shows an hosting adress and a name. The hosting account is dependant of an email adress, then an IP...etc Prudence with rep pics on gen forums
  8. Aviation and watches are 2 different worlds. Rolex advertising showing airliner pilots wearing GMT's... like those Concorde pilots wearing full gold GMT Master... Sorry guys, I love myself vintage subs and gmt, but I have never seen in a cockpit a captain or a crew member with a gmt at his wrist... I spent myself 30 years in DC8-70 and 747-100,200,300 and SP series on the left seat, wearing a regular $150 classic watch. Aircraft panels are full of intruments giving you all the times you want, no necessary to wear a Rolex GMT It exactly like Bell&Ross calalogs showing Air Force pilots.... pics are just good for a poser orgasm
  9. If you didn't follow the other topics from Akira, here is the finished Akira's project Here is my daily beater Josh's 1655, re-worked CG and re-sized rep crown, Yuki dial with refinished texts, refinished lume by myself with matching hands, WSO complete bezel assembly with black insert, Clark 25-116 plexi, etc. etc... post scriptum : the cyclop looks not centered, may be its due to the photo axis, anyway, re-positioning it takes a minute
  10. thanks for infos about MBW, the worse with the motorcycle tuktuk, when you stop at a red light with a big truck on the side... most of the time the truck's muffler is on the same level as your face
  11. can you explain more about MBK and MBW, since a long time I wish to know exactly where to get stuff from these place, I know MBK is a shopping center in Bangkok downtown, right ? For MBW, as I often have read here "MBW this..." and "MBW that..." but never seen a link or an adress to get such cases or accessories. Or this is private infos for initiated people ?
  12. Some people don't feel themselves bad or better when they spend 60K, they never look in fact what they have or don't have on their bank account, they just don't mind, don't care, I am like that, I don't mind, I don't care, A few clics, a few bucks, and the miracle happen, here, on this board, consult ----------------> Watches, Clothing & Accessories :clap2: :1a:
  13. Yes, its a gen replica no, its a custom construction, as I wrote, this was built using a Josh's 1675 folded bracelet and replacing the native clasp by a Sub clasp with the diver extension The 2 arrows show the 2 modified parts allowing to join the diver's ext. and the folded link
  14. thanks to all for your kind comments, I also like to read/learn and enjoy photos off other members jobs, I dont add comments as I am to lazy...sorry for this Thanks. I have seen a 1665 with a diver ext. style clasp and folded links in a collector shop, this has given me the idea. The case is good to work on, it was these series of 1665 made with the "316F" stainless steel, lot of metal on the cg, so easy to re-cut On my watch the caseback is very thick and oversized, no possible to open it with a Rolex tool, I had to made a custom tool using mixed epoxy and steel powder to "print" the caseback grooves.. Anyway all reps caseback are thick enough to support pressure, the problem, rep as gen also, is the crystal. A domed plexi, from its ergonomy (basic physics rules), will have a better resistance against pressure and water weight than a flat crystal. Also the rounded form will cancel reading aberations under water
  15. I had a little trip to Cabo Verde islands and took with me my kitchen table watchplumbing custom special 5514. This is my travel watch as she likes water. 70 meters deep 6 months ago in Thailand, only 15 meters deep here. The insert is naturally damaged from intensive use in salt water sun and has sand bites ans scratches. Initially it was a 108.00US$ watch from Josh (those serie with the vrong bezel assembly). I started to remove about 1mm from the top of the case + the same amount of material from the rehaut which was to high imho. Drilled lugholes of course. The dial was relumed. I wrote already this story, the target was to imitate the 5513 slim case with an HEV made for the Comex and becoming the 5514. But later I have made some improvements. I re-cut more seriously the crownguards, removed material to made more rounded the top of lugs as they still loocked like thick SD, shortened the 7mm crown and glued a Yuki pearl on the insert. The plexi is a 8.95US$ PA 462-67 from Ofrei which was grinded, rounded and repolished to give the dome look, as a super dome will not cosmetically match with the slim case. I used also a folded bracelet from a Josh's 1655 and I changed the clasp for a Sub one with the diver extension. I also put a coat of clear matt warnish on the dots lume, dots became a little shinny and the color changed slightly... normal, a matt coat applied on a matt surface = brillant. Anyway, you will think I am crazy, but really I am convicted that my Comex looks better than gens Also a gen 5514 is in a range of 50 - 80K€, my MasterPiece is only around 100 euros, btw I love it and I am very proud with this piece of sh..., sorry this exceptional watch. The wallet I used for pics is a gen, it was given with the Comex watches and regular 1665. It contains the famous Rolex #2100 tool, the waranty book, a diving decompression table, a complete backup divers extention kit, pins and screws (stored inside the tool) I removed also about 0.5mm from the bottom of the thick SD bezel, it looks quite good but still a little to thick than a regular sub bezel but I cannot remove more material without ruining the case/bezel ring assembling construction. A complete sub bezel assembly from WSO will work, but it will cost more than the background investment of 108.00$ + shipping + 25.00$ yuki pearl Santa Maria's city, world biggest malls there... Boavista island ugly beaches... hope you enjoyed this little article
  16. yes, it looks great ! congrats Dizzy ! change for a 25-116 Clark crystal Now we should start a 1675 builder/owner club, with meetings, conventions, and also sell pins, caps, tee-shirt, coffee mugs etc...
  17. Now it looks 100% perfect !!!! I want it, :Jumpy: :Jumpy: pm sent
  18. I just finished to build and shipped to its owner a new 1675 I have made, using the cartel 1655 case and aftermarket parts - 1655 case with DG3804 Asian movement - VSO classic 1675 complete bezel assembly - Clark 25-116 crystal - Andrew Shear dial - Gen tube (Akira is waiting for a gen crown, right now the rep crown is matching) As usual lug holes are drilled and gen Rolex springbars are used, Akira will give you himself more details, The dial is exceptional, never seen a so sharp dial, pics are not really good, this is the best one I have seen,
  19. Good job ! Sorry, I read a lot a bout mods here, but I am often to lazy to get a response when you reduce the crown size, if the tube is to long, you can disassemble the tube and tap to install it a little deaper in the case
  20. no tutorial for this, but its really easy without complete disassemble the movement. May be I could do a tuto but I will be far from home next weeks and very busy You need just to remove the dial, then the first level plate and replace in the correct position the hours hammer spring and the hammer counter lock If this can help to localise the concerned parts here
  21. Yes, normally, on this version of 7750, as told the hours counter hand follows the main hour hand permanently. Also even when the chrono is not engaged if you push the reset pusher, the hours counter hand returns at 0 (12) and starts again to turn in coordination with the main hour hand. When the hours hammer counter lock has been replaced in its right position, the hours counter hand will be again operational : means stay permanently at 0 (12) and starts to move only when the chrono pusher is engaged
  22. These movements are regular 7750 and went assembled - don't know the reason- with the hours hammer lock and the hours hammer spring desactivited. Thats why the hand of the subdial at six follows the main hour hand instead of moving when 60 minutes are passed with the chrono engaged. I have one of these movements, I have disassembled and converted to allow the hours counter to work properly.
