  1. Great looking strap Murph.....and I see a discreet 'beach shot' has crept in the background AGAIN....
  2. The 164 is as is out of the box as its quite new and on the list! The others have been worked on. Thanks for the comments guys and the great collection shot for 'down under'.....come on guys show us your best......
  3. Looks like the rep dial Omega logo has lost its happy feet, but decided to rest its butt on the top of the words below....should be spaced off it more me thinks... Could be picture magnification and angles as Tribals looks better than the other on this issue? I have read all the reviews across the forums and never noticed these issues before..... funny how we spmetimes do not see the 'wood for the trees'
  4. 'My first PAM....' Oh yes, I remember it well..........now they will be all over you like the pox! And when you move them on, the scars remain...... Looks really great and super pics...and even better video, some superb detail
  5. Yep thats it J - often used in engineering to cut deep, narrow channels in prime grade hardened steel blocks - as used to manufacture injection moulds, for injection moulding plastic parts. Materials like aluminium can be precision cnc machined.............hardenend steel has to be spark eroded. Not familiar with the technique being used for a surface hole such as a lug hole - but why not?
  6. +1 ....could not recognise those pieces, hence the enquiry .....stay with known dealers, life can be difficult with any supply chain, but at least there is a support structure here for known dealers
  7. Please tell us who this mystery 'cheapo' seller is...........
  8. Very nice version......looks like the Exp II's are back in town....got me very interested in contacting Sead
  9. ooooh I can just visualise it?
  10. +1 was no flexibility when I checked, but I do not understand why. There is access to the French/European postal system which offers a range of services, just as any national service does? Oh well never mind.....I really do not like it when sellers LOAD their P&P prices and offer a flat rate regardless of item size, content, value and destination.
  11. Would like to try them out, but $35 for P&P for an insert! ....and the same $35 P&P for a $2000 Rolex...? Yeh........
  12. Nope - 2824 is a different movement. This is 2836-2 as stated. Take a loupe and look at the engraving in the movement, just below the balance wheel - you will see the number there. Whether its gen or clone, cant say from this pic alone - but others might - probably Asian clone?
  13. There are a number of specialist cobalt drill bit ebay shops. I have used 2 of them who stock all sizes and you can buy singles or multi packs. Obviously, go to a specialist seller/producer source and avoid the 'cheap chinese counterfeits' ha ha ha..... Heres an example, but I do not know where you is based....... http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1-3mm-Alpen-HSS-Cobalt-Jobber-Drill-Bit-Pk-10-/330518011057?pt=UK_Home_Garden_PowerTools_SM&hash=item4cf4689cb1
  14. Like many PAM fans and collectors, I have far too many straps - even though I keep trying to sell some off - sell 4 and buy 5!!! So, I spent some time rotating the straps amongst my modest PAM family and found that it really does make a difference to appearance The biggest factor is that the strap can really influence the appearance of the dial and indices colours..........here's my favourite line up for now, in the main shots  Some family shots......showing the leather tones and textures Custom built Base 002 (old school case/EL dial/EL caseback/great CG) on a Heroic 18 with brushed H18 buckle........hand swap planned On a different strap.....or two Custom built (still in progress!) 005G (with Oncyte dial/custom caseback/nice fat CG) on a stunning Donerix vintage, again with H18 brushed buckle........H3 swap planned next 005G on something different.... Ultimate 164 with updated date mag and date wheel.......everything out of the box on rep rubber and deploy. I have a rather nice grey shark skin and embossed buckle lined up for this one. I do actually like the rubber on the auto, it makes a great business suit combination? CG mod planned....... Last but not least my superlimed, vintaged and beaten up custom built Mini Fiddy on a fanastic soft, thick vintage Donerix strap - a real comfortable and favourinte combination with the vintage buckle styling..... I am very interested to see some of your favourite combinations and collections.....come on lets get them up here :munch:
  15. Love to see a pic of the snow plough that did that - remarkable picture Great build spec on the 1665
  16. Eventually..... Beautiful piece Cats. Is the difference between the Top Hat and other Gen Tropic the chamfer around the top perimeter of the crystal.....? Do they have the same Tropic Ref number, or not? Many thanks, Highoey.....only joking!
  17. Ha ha ha Ubi/bto....this club is not as exclusive as you may think! We are NOT alone...............
  18. For a mid 1960's 5513, with box set, papers and provenance; and from a European/Swiss dealer I would not be surpised at an 'asking price' of between £5 and £7k................. Certainly £4.5k to upper £6k is a UK/Euro dealer price from what I have seen. Low end price without box/papers. Later 1980's models will be £2.5 to £4k maybe? Just my view.............sales price is something different.
  19. You know you are in deep trouble when you look in the box....value only half of the pieces that you never/hardly ever wear - but would never sell........add this value to ALL of the multiple sets of parts you have, for those builds that never quite seem to get finished .....and it EQUALS the value of a GEN grail............that you have cherished for years, but convinced yourself you cannot possibly afford! Oh dear, I'm in DEEP!
  20. Cool.......maybe that's a REP tune, not a RAP tune..... Swapped a Clark 127 in my PT 1680 - no problem Swapped a T39 and or a T19 in my PT 1665 - no problem Both cases from original early PT versions. BUT tight as anything to get on and off - so plenty of potential trouble! J - ever thought of moving to Europe - such great expertise?
  21. Great review and a super rep for $450! Less the resale of excess parts - which I see are already flooding onto the sales forums Tanks for sucha comprehensive report
  22. I am not posting this to question authenticity. It is just the audacity to post for sale a watch of this rarity and potential value with 'out of focus polaroid(?) shots', a succesful sales history of selling 'warhammer gameware' and a lovely little anecdotal 'cut and paste' memorandum from dad (who is reportedly stuck in 'the jungle' somewhere?). ......and we worry about the credence of some sellers sales posts here. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rolex-Rare-Submariner-Watch-/120664803401?pt=UK_Jewellery_Watches_VintageFineJewellery_CA&hash=item1c182ec849 There seems to be more money than sense in some collectors circles these days. Its interesting to see some form of bracelet, on a fixed lug milsub case................
  23. Ha ha ha ....brilliant, morning made my! Did it. Thanks
  24. Still prefer the PT 1680 version myself - if you exclude the MBK/MBW; I guess its all been said before........... - best OOB vintage insert out there on a dealer watch? - 93150 bracelet excellent (incorrect clasp) - correct closed 580 end links - easy to drill out the lug holes and the 580's fit straight in wth 2mm bars - plenty of CG to work with inside and outside - tube accepts gen 703 crown - eta 2846 movement (I have a modded 1665 and 1680 for more than a year and they have not missed a beat and great timekeepers!) - bezel assmbly accepts gen insert and has a good profile - replace plastic gasket with a new custom retainer ring (I can supply for use with a Clark 127) - accepts a Clark or Cousins 127 - same price For an extra $50/100 and a bit of work, you can upgrade this to great looking aged 'franken' vintage Sub. If you want a $1000/1500 franken, then start with a MBK. So what's the attraction of this 'new' $200 option - sorry guys, I don't see it?
  25. Well Roli - what a simple and uplifting thread.......... Merry Christmas to you and your family; and wishing all members and their loved ones a healthy and happy 2011!
