  1. After almost three weeks, I finally put the Planet Ocean Chrono back in the watchbox and took out this for a change...
  2. ... what a [censored] great post, ryyannon...
  3. My Pleasure... the watch on PT's site is the rep... lying on top a TAG ad with Brad and his THC. My friend - for whom I had bought the watch - recently compared his rep to the gen of a friend who was over for dinner. Could not tell them apart. He's not a rep pro and did't know where to look but still... he had them both in his hands. When comparing was over, he had to make sure he gave his friend the right watch... I have not looked at kings site... but both movements are asian made copies of an original swiss movement, the Valjoux 7750, which is one of the most popular Chrono movements of all times. You can find this one in a gazillion gen watches. The Asian replicas of this movement are actually fairly good movements and unless your's is assembled on a Monday morning.... they are reliable. PT is a great source and since you're UK based... save yourself the customs hassle and send him a mail...
  4. This is a great post, thanks Joe... I've done the same thing a few times already and unless you have a step-by-step guide like this one, you're sure to pay the price. It's little things like paper to protect the dial when removing the hands, tissue to protect the hands when installing them... That's why (in addition to collecting gens) I love collecting reps... I would never dare to do that with one of my gens..
  5. Hi Resh and welcome to the game of collecting reps... since you quoted the price in pounds and are on GMT, I assume you are based in the UK. In this case, I would suggest Precious Time (PT) as a source, since he's also UK based. He has a very good Tag Heuer Chrono which I bought for a friend a while ago. send him a email... http://www.rwg.cc/members/View-Member-Profile-m605.html
  6. Blue is not an official color choice (afaik). PO Chronos come with black dial (and optional orange numbers on either black or orange bezelinserts and corresponding pusher rings). The one pictured is not the latest available model of the POC (the date is not turned 45
  7. Excellent review... a lot of work went into this one and it was well worth it. My SFSO is gone for repairs.... the ETA was DOA . It's a great watch though and the finish is definitely among the high-end reps. I also put it on a gen rubber strap. It's pretty comfy.... I look forward to your next review...
  8. Since I really haven't worn any other of my watches for the passed two weeks, I decided to at least change the strap on my PO Chrono. Here it is with a dark-brown Hirsch Racing...
  9. Congratulations from a fellow B-1 fan... this is my favourite tool-watch ... and you've got to love the back!
  10. The gold PO is ok - though I generally prefer sports watches to be steel and prefer gold on the more dressy watches. The blingy Chrono
  11. Pugster.... I knew you had an urge for this fugly blingthing ever since you posted that AD pic ....
  12. Slai... that's the Quartz movement version.... Everythingape reviewed his Quartz Chrono here
  13. Hi Joe.... I recently bought the TAG Carrera Steel Chrono for my brother... that is a great watch... with one of the best rep-bracelets I have seen so far. The movement (new Asia7750 / 28.800) runs smooth and it is a beautiful but not fancy watch.
  14. Hi, the watch originally comes on a stainless steel
  15. not black on black gen rubber... but close... (the gen rubber came off my gen B1) - I too have problems with the crown... it's a [censored].... the watch though is great... nice to have one rep where you
  16. Review of the Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono (edit: added a new picture of PO Chrono on Hirsch Racing strap - scroll to bottom) About a week ago I received my PO Chrono from PT (Precious Time), whom - by the way - I can only recommend as a dealer. My Seamaster Planet Ocean Chrono - all black Dial version The Seamaster line was introduced by Omega in 1948 and even after 58 years, it has lost nothing of it’s fascination. The gen Chrono is a technical masterpiece. It is waterproof to 600m/2000ft and even the Chrono pushers – who are not screw-down - function up to this depth. It is equipped the Omega 3313 caliber, which is based on a Piguet 1285/7 caliber that Omega has heavily modified. the Omega 3313 caliber The rep carries a New Asian replica of the Valjoux 7750 (28,800 bph), while the gen comes with the Omega 3313 caliber. Asia 7750 (courtesy of Trusty /Andrew) The gen features the Omega Co-Axial Escapement and has a power reserve of 55 hours. The domed sapphire crystal comes with double sided AR. The retail price of the gen in Europe is 4.195€ (umpf!) the Replica costs roughly 6% thereof. When discussing this replica, one thing is important: If you are anal about the 1 to 1 reproduction accuracy of a replica, read no further - the PO Chrono is probably not for you. This is where the biggest flaws are located This is because it’s biggest flaw is quite visible and that is the positioning and spacing of the subdials, and the resulting size of the 3 / 6 / 9 markers on the dial. This difference comes from the movements used in the gen and the rep. Because the subdials are further apart on the rep, also the 3/6/9 numbers are smaller due to lack of space on the outer rim of the dial. Another movement related fault of the rep is the position of the Chrono pushers and the Crown. On the replica, they sit a little lower on the case and wider apart compared to the gen. The subdials and 3/6/9 markers are the most obvious of the visible flaws. If you want your rep perfect, this one is not for you. Here is a list of differences (minor and visible) to the gen: •
  17. I'm usually not too much into rubber... but in this case... I'd be in
  18. me too got this one... HEY YOU, GET BACK IN LINE AND WAIT 'TILL IT'S YOUR TURN!
  19. Whow.... that's a rare one... a lot of money, time and work went into this watch... bravo!
  20. Whow... what a great book... and what a great gesture ....
  21. "VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND IN THIS CONDITION" .... I second that!
  22. My guess would be franken... but a very nice one. Dial repainted - very nicely. The usual gen parts. What makes me think franken is the upper inside CG - it is almost impossible to bang a watch there, so the "injury" is probably from shaping .... ( on the other hand.... if you go through the effort of bulding a franken, woudn't you take a close look at it?)
  23. Ubi, of course this is no match for your beautiful vintage.... but since it's OMG time... I thought I should join the party... this one hasn't left my wrist (xcept for showering) ever since I got it last Friday...
