  1. Welcome aboard. You definitely walk to the beat of a different drummer.
  2. Indy fan from Maryland? You must not be from here.
  3. So the hands from the A 2824 are a direct swap?
  4. I could never trust a chicken fu@ker.
  5. If you wanted to get it off, that would never happen
  6. http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=226097
  7. I hate aligning date overlays. Even when you get it right, it's not right. It finally drove me to buy a gen 16610
  8. It's expensive to get in the gen game. I bought a PO when the first came out and I think a paid $2.400 NIB from an AD. I got a price quote this morning ... $3,650 and that's for the old style with the 2500 movement. Ouch!
  9. I know you also need the gen crystal ring to fit a gen bezel on a WM9.
  10. Non expanding ... the links are not spring loaded. I had that bracelet. It is very nice.
  11. It's really tough to properly regulate a movement without a timing machine. If it's running that fast, something else is going on. The most likely culprit would be the hairspring. Have you tried giving the watch a couple of good thumps with the palm of your hand? It's worth a try.
  12. Most Breitling's are a half a$$ effort. They just don't seem to get it.
  13. In my opinion $5,200 for a gen 1680 without a bracelet is a bit high. The bracelet and ends would cost you another $750 or so. I would not buy off of eBay. Check on VRF (Vintage Rolex Forum). You should be able to find what you want there.
  14. Countersink the hole and re-tap it and you will never have a problem.
  15. As said above, you have to have some faith in the process. You need to remember that you are dealing with someone half way around the world. There is a time difference, language barriers ... etc. If you did your homework and picked a good dealer, your watch will arrive in due time. Happy waiting! Marty
  16. Clarks are good, but if you over torque any tube, it will snap off.
  17. It does say nicely restored, so it's only half a lie.
  18. In my opinion, some reps just can't duplicate the feel of their gen counterparts. Breitling comes to mind. The bezel action is never quite right on the rep. Modern Rolexes are the same way. I like vintage reps (pre-v Pams, Rolexes ... etc.) and higher end watches that are out of my reach. If you accept the rep for what it is ... a copy that is probably 95% visually the same as the gen (most details are correct) and mechanically 80% of the gen (Asian copy or not the same Swiss movement as in the gen), you will be fine. If you want perfection, stick with gens.
  19. It's your eyes man! Do yourself a favor and buy gen.
