  1. Hike, thanks. I already have a tablet for everyday usage. The only reason I need a PC is for the photoshop stuff. That's my other hobby besides watches. I guess with Christmas around the corner, I'll keep my eye out for some deals. My 8 year old desk-top was actually refurbished and it still kicked some ass.
  2. Need some advice. Should I get a laptop or a desktop? Also, what brand? My HP desktop just died on me after 8 years of reliable service. I also had a 2 yr old HP laptop that died on me recently so I'm sort of on the fence about what I need. Nothing too demanding. I don't do gaming. It's basically browsing, some (not much) photoshop, (not much) video editing, etc... Much appreciated
  3. I seemed to have misplaced my gen 16710 pepsi insert. Will buy a replacement until it turns up. Who has the best aftermarket? I've looked at Clarks but they have the tell-tale hooked 2. My 16710 is all gen - i have all 3 inserts but am in the mood for the pepsi insert. I've looked everywhere! Those suckers are not cheap - hence, the "temp" rep Pepsi insert. Much thanks
  4. If you're selling, you might as well cover all your bases. If you're buying, this (meaning RWG) is the only place that showcases serious franken watches. RWI has high-volume but mostly unmodded from the factory. I like RG as well as you get middle of the road modded watches but rarely see the $5000 franken there.
  5. I would contact MQ. I've purchased 3 dials from him in the last year and all were top notch, including a Comex dial.
  6. Quick question. Is there a layer/puff of lume on whoopy's dials or are the flat and must be re-lumed? From his pics, they look flat. Thanks in advance
  7. Seriously, $25k? Where can he possibly unload these? We should scour the for-sale section to ensure they are not being sold.
  8. Holy [censored]! I have yet to comment on any of these threads since I have no watch with MD2020. But, wow, $18K. I would be beyond [censored]. Just glad I never sent out any of my stuff to him. I feel horrible for all who have been impacted. Hopefully MOAB is able, with others, to recoup the goods. I still remember when he almost had his own section.
  9. Go figure. All that space up top and they squeeze the SCOC words together!
  10. Congrats. Another beauty. Let me also add a +1 on CC as a stand-up guy!
  11. Valty, i look forward to your reviews and more pics!! That is a beautiful list, indeed!!
  12. I'll check the threads carefully. For now, I closed it right back.
  13. Thats a beauty. I guess I have to build me one...
  14. He went in the back room and I heard something mechanical. I didn't ask. Just happy it was done!
  15. Took it to a watch smith. Explained the situation that this was a mix of gen and aftermarket parts. Popped it opened in 5 seconds. All is good!
  16. Thanks for all the ideas. I will update you all soon, I hope.
  17. HH, i might try a heat gun on the caseback and then my Bergeon 5537 set. YOu're right. It's happened to me before and a bench caseback remover did the trick. But, geez! The Zigmeister couldn't do it. I hope his tools were the problem.
  18. I might try the WD40 option and let it sit overnight then try a local watchmaker who has a proper bench case opener. But, as you said if The Zigmeister could not... well...
  19. Even more puzzling, it was the Zigmeister who could not open it! He accepted the watch as it has a gen V72 movement that he previously serviced.
  20. I have a watch that I sent off for some work. I was told the caseback could not be opened - the case seized, I was told. He used 3 different cases. I had opened this case myself a few days before I sent it off and closed it not too tightly. I just got the watch back and cannot open the damn thing! I used a Bergeon opener. I'm actually a little paranoid... did something happen in transit? Humidity? WHat the hell!
