  1. Hey, guys. Thanks for the input. But now, can someone explain a smudge dial?
  2. Has not come off the wrist except for sleep and a wind!
  3. A couple of months ago, I was fortunate to pick up a nicelay aged HH5514 case from member Lionsandtigers. It came with an athaya tube installed, gen t19 service crystal and bezel assembly. I've got a gen 5513 insert somewhere still sealed, if I recall. Earlier this week, Lionsandtigers sent me a nice pm alerting me of this dial for sale on VRF. A big thank you to Lionsandtigers for helping me out with this build. I did not waste much time given the price. The seller also had a nice 1665 for sale but I had just completed my 6263 deal and just could not justify another $1000 on a dial that would sit in a drawer until I had time to get to it. So I went only for the 5513. It's seen some better days. The lume has turned brown in some spots but it looks right for the build. I'm thinking of having it relumed. I like things NOS, typically. Any words of wisdom?
  4. See here. http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/166337-a-gem-of-a-watchsmith-among-us-misiekped-is-a-terrific-guy/?hl=%2Bmisiekped#entry1302589 http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/169398-misiekeped-good/ I've used him on 4 watches now and his work is impeccable. Honest, quick and reliable.
  5. CC, Wiesn089, thanks! It will be tough to choose. Here's a family shot!
  6. I wonder what lucky dog picked up this gem? http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/169376-is-there-anything-better-than-a-sigma-dial-vintage-daytona/
  7. Here we have one the best franken Daytona's ever built by our very own Wiesn089 with a beautiful and rare Sigma dial. I always wanted a silver dial vintage Daytona - a gen dial. I had read often that nothing shimmers like a silver gen dial. The way the light hits it. Not too long ago, I purchased another v72 build from Polexpete with my goal of finally putting in silver dial. Here are the 2 black dial Daytona's pictured together. But the hunt for the gen silver dial was proving to be difficult. A couple of weeks ago, there was a flurry of Vintage Daytona's for sale - Omega's stunning build and Roliroli's pair with gen dials. As i contemplated buying one of these, my friend Janeto72 shot me a PM. Janeto72's build is without doubt the best and most committed build this community has seen so far. You can re-discover it here: http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/149900-rwg-6265-6263-vintage-daytona-build-tutorial/page-3 The rest, as they say is history. So, what's better than sigma dial Vintage daytona? Two sigma dial Vintage daytona's! The watch is spectacular. The dial is really special and makes the watch pop. My preference was always for a black bezel like Omega's but I can't complain! I might swap on a black bezel eventually. Thanks to Janeto72 for a flawless transaction. We had hoped for a face-2-face deal but our agendas did not coincide. I hope to meet you one day and personally congratulate you on this build. Here are a few more pics.
  8. Real nice set. I just hope I don't catch the Patek bug - that would really ruin me!
  9. Congrats, B! I still have lots of time ahead of me to reach that milestone
  10. I'm no expert on these matters but what does "shifting the dial a little" mean? I have vintage Rolex with a gen 1570 movement, MQ dial where the datewheel sits a tad high - a hair. Are you saying that I should "shift the dial a little to the bottom" to fix the problem? Thanks
  11. It's a shame about the lume dots. Wow, that was going way back!!
  12. Here's the pic! There's some smudging on some of the lume dots which is strange for a NOS.
  13. It seems this dial has been listed and relisted a few times on the bay. It's on the high side and is a luminova dial. What do the experts thing? Also, seller sells mainly photographic equipment but has vintage Daytona parts for sale.
  14. If you like it, that's all that matters. But,, it looks like a cheapie 21j with a very wokky rehaut.
  15. Thanks for that! He looks to be under 40! Crazy. I also had an image of a nasty looking old dude!
  16. Glad I am not alone! He's been nothing but honest and fast with my watches!
  17. Wow, you travel in style!
  18. That one gets more than its share of the rotation. I can wear it a business meeting or grabbing a Saturday night movie. Love it.
