  1. Dusted-off the old 'Graph today
  2. I do not think that is the same case as this. The 'Newman' moniker refers to a particular style (Exotic - Rolex's official term) of Daytona dial, not a color. Whatever works for you. But, just for reference, keep in mind that the 6542 was made for (& in conjunction with) Pan Am. The only difference between the (original) black & (later) white dialed versions was that the former were intended for Pan Am flight crews & the latter for Pan Am execs, which is how I usually think of them.
  3. I call it a GMT or 'Master, which is why I missed your reference.
  4. Unless that 'M' is supposed to be an 'N', you stumped me.
  5. Can you clue us in on what you pre-ordered?
  6. The pink strap gives it a bit of Italian pinaché, but I think it looks best on the folded link.
  7. I wish he had a better sample than this. Previously, he told me the actual dial he ships out is different, but the pic he sent of the actual dial was printed off-center & had other problems. I guess I got lucky with his white Newman dial .
  8. Yes, fingernail polish (after using a spray paint remover purchased from an auto parts store to remove the original paint)
  9. Looks like a nice, modern Sub.
  10. Ubi - Have you considered a Jubilee? The strap is nice (& does a good job of toning-down yellow gold DDs' urbanity), but I think this 1 needs the semi-formality of a Jubilee.
  11. Relumed & I would not bid until/unless I saw the 4 lines of text in their entirity. But, otherwise, it should be an interesting auction.
  12. Yes, English please.
  13. The current 704 looks like the 703 externally, except that the 703's cap is wrapped & the 704's is solid. This subject has been covered more times than I can remember. Use the search for additional details.
  14. I would agree with automatico on 1 point, but disagree on another. I agree that you are better off going with a Cartier (or another designer name) quartz than an automatic Rolex. I did an informal survey of a number of female friends some years ago (there used to be a thread here, but it may have gotten lost during 1 of the software upgrades) & I was surprised to find that only 1 of them really liked Rolex when 'prettier' (quartz) designer options were available. I would disagree that a rep case or watch is preferable to gens. Unless your lady is aware the watch is 'fake', I would not want to risk having my lady being outted with friends while looking at rings (or whatever women look at) during 1 of her routine shopping excursions. Some women are fine with reps & others are worse than gen forum members. I have a female friend (the 1 from the survey that prefers Rolex over the typical quartz designer watch), who loves the cheap Daytona rep I gave her But, in my experience, she is definitely the exception to the rule.
  15. It is a great show, but you need to be tranquilized before entering unless you have very deep pockets or are a horological masochist.
  16. Wearing my beater today
  17. oliviemenard - How does your bezel compare to this version of a service bezel
  18. VRF often ignores posts containing rep parts, which is what I think this is. oliviemenard - you might want to add something like 'Can someone please help me out?' to your original post on VRF. No guarantee that will work, but if you still get no response, I would seriously question the authenticity of that bezel.
