  1. Thank you. It really is 1 of the most beautiful watches I have ever seen, so I can understand why people are so taken with it. I cannot understand why Rolex never produced a retail version of the 6542 with a white dial. The combination of white dial, red & black Perspex insert & beveled crystal makes this watch look clean, fresh & decidedly modern (especially for the staid 50s & early 60s). The bracelet is gen, so its finish ought to be superb (but I may swap it out for the same early 1960s gen jubilee that I have on my Phase I GMT - not sure yet). And you are not the only 1 who considers it the ultimate grail watch. An Italian (gen) watch club has already sent me a handful of kudos. A special thanks has to go to By-Tor, who convinced me (almost 3 years ago) of the need to add a GMT-Master to my collection. Prior to that, I never liked the GMT, with its 'clown-like' colored bezel. However, once By-Tor's reviews started to have their effect on the WIS part of my brain, I came around & it was only after a couple of false-starts attempting to procure a credible non-ceramic GMTII that I decided to embark on the road less traveled (the Perspex path), which, ultimately, resulted in the creation of a true grail watch. So, thanks, By-Tor.
  2. Details, details...........
  3. A few new/better pics - for your entertainment, of course
  4. Never got a good enough look to be sure, but I would doubt it is a rep.
  5. Bidding seems to have ended with 0 bids. So either the seller received an offer he could not refuse or someone cried foul & ebay stopped the auction . From what I can see (relatively low number of previous sales, none of which involving Rolex watches/parts & some dark/de-focused pics), I suspect the latter. That aside, I am unconvinced of this dial's authenticity anyway.
  6. Not a classic, but good. Very entertaining. Diaz wears a Sub, which was also nice to see.
  7. Pretty good movie (Knight and Day). The watch.......well, we all know about the watch & I am pretty sure she owns it since she has been photographed a number of times (not in a movie) with it.
  8. Just returned from a late showing of Knight and Day (it is now well into Thursday morning) wearing............what else?...........
  9. As I always say, if the seller is honest, he will post good, clear macros showing alot of details. If the seller is dishonest, he will not. I am more knowledgeable on 1950+ models, but I do not see a single good, clear macro (or anything that leads me to believe the seller is honest). Like we say - Buy the seller before you buy the watch.
  10. Cameron Diaz wears a modern date Sub in the new Knight and Day movie, which is pretty good. Just saying.
  11. Beautiful, Ubi. But you have the wrong number
  12. Cabin, suite or club?
  13. The second hand (subdial at 6) is a bit twitchy on the 7750. Why would you say the 29J 28.8bph is overkill? If it is a non-chrono movement, it would seem, to me, to be underkill, at best.
  14. Winding position, whichever click that happens to be.
  15. Mine is a few years old & is powered by the Asian secs @ 6 7750.
  16. Your watch is not a very accurate rep, so I would not put any more money into it. Check out Perfect Clones offerings, which is where I sourced this 116523 (its primary foible is the too large lume areas on the 3, 6 & 9 o'clock hour markers, but I am working on them)
  17. Ditto. If you are unsure or lack the proper tools, best to let someone else handle it. Even if you are able to remove the dial/hands without incident, the difficult part, relatively speaking, is reinstalling the hands (without damaging either hand or dial), which is where the real skill comes in. A couple of helpful hints for stem removal on ETAs (& ETA clones) - Before uncasing, pull the crown/stem out to the winding position (1st click). Some suggest pulling it out to the time-setting position, but this tends to increase the likelihood of having either the clutch, clutch lever or stem lock slip out of position. Use the correct tool or screwdriver to depress or unscrew release the stem (varies with movement) & be gentle. Too much force or too many turns can easily dislodge parts.
  18. Ah, shucks, Nanuq.
  19. Phase II has been under construction since before I completed Phase I (a year or 2 ago) & there were 2-3 threads early on. But this 1 contains the most salient bits.
  20. 36mm here, too. Still wearing the albino
  21. Touche. I agree & thank you.
  22. Mine too. Thank you. I appreciate the compliment. Thanks, D. Much obliged. Although no one here would ever copy/paste RWG content to any gen forums , something tells me this watch will become the subject of debates & conversations in the gen forums.
  23. Wearing something different Tuesday evening
