  1. Nice, Ronin. I suspect someone in the Great White North will have a pickle-in-his-pocket over that 1. Wearing my beater today
  2. To Happy Motoring! So, which would you choose - pilot's cabin or executive suite? (Sorry, neither is for sale)
  3. Comments?
  4. To be honest, I am not quite sure? All of my Rolex parts & service manuals show 1530/157x balances with adjustment screws. But I have seen a number of gen watches with balances without them. I think I read something about chronometer spec movements having a different balance, but I have been unable to substantiate that, so I am not sure what to tell you.
  5. Your hard work shows , but I think you need a better insert/pearl .
  6. I agree with Allgoat 100%. Generally, having fewer features is better, but, from a casual glance, this 1680 has fewer obvious sins than the 5512.
  7. Ticking tunes Saturday
  8. I hate being a jerk, but I also do not like getting taken by 1. So I would send him a polite email asking what he feels would be an equitable amount (for both of you), considering that the mistake was his & you won the watches fairly? Then, you can either accept his offer, make a counteroffer or register a formal complaint with ebay &/or Paypal.
  9. I am not very into pre-war, but an interesting piece.
  10. 007-ish today
  11. Ditto Martyd3's comments.
  12. CHS ceramic today
  13. I would bet both bracelets have been available for some time. It only takes the right inquiry placed with the right seller to open the floodgates (has anyone asked Yuki to source them).
  14. Wedge a thin knife or stout razor blade between the bottom of the bezel & top face of the case. Once in, remove & repeat @ 180 degrees from the starting point. Repeat @ 90 degrees & again @ the other 90 degree point. Depending on the fit of the bezel around the crystal (how tight the coupling is), it may take anywhere from a few minutes to an hour or so to get the razor in. But once you are in, work the blade around the entire perimeter of the bezel until it loosens enough to be removed.
  15. Originally, I thought it was just a photo artifact, but now that I see these new pics, I think you may need to reduce the height of the crystal (only the beveled section of the crystal should stand proud of the insert). On my watch, I reduced the crystal height by grinding it on sandpaper to the desired height. Then I cemented the crystal onto the case using UV cement, which makes a 100% watertight/permanent seal (you would need to literally crush & scrape the crystal off the case to remove it ).
  16. Properly serviced, any of the secs @ 9 Daytonas are reliable. Beyond that, the Cosmograph you want is the Cosmograph you should get.
  17. Click me
  18. Not a very accurate rep, but - yes, welcome to the real world.
  19. Luminova was not generally fit when the 1665/1680 were produced. However, that is what Rolex would fit today during servicing (since tritium is no longer an option). They look fine.
  20. Beater again on Sunday
  21. I disagree with the premise that a month of non-communication is reasonable. But, at the same time, more than 1 email/week can be interpreted as harassment. So be patient. That said, Kent always comes through in the end. 1 caveat - my experience has been that, over time, Kent may forget some of the details of your original request, which can have disastrous results if not caught & corrected before he finishes your job. However, Kent does admit his mistakes & tries (as best he can) to correct them. (After a 3-month delay, Kent apparently forgot that I had requested white, non-glowing lume on my double red & ended up painting the dial with brown luminova. Fortunately, he was able to repaint over the brown markers & still make it look gen.) For this reason, it is imperative that, as soon as he does resume contact, you reiterate the details of your original request. Otherwise, if the work gets completed (incorrectly), it may be too late.
