Beautiful story cj! Back in the dark ages when I was in my 20's I knew a guy like that, he was an amateur watchmaker. He's the one that got me really started on watches, especially Rolex. He worked part time at a hardware store too. Thanks for sharing that story...you made his day for sure!

My gen 78360 clasp has flat top 3. I just spent a little time on google images and found several like it, including one from 1980 at chrono-shop.

Good luck Db2! I've screwed a few up and also had happen what happened to you..stem just pulled out. If you have success, let me know how hard it was. I haven't had enough time reading the tutorials yet to try to fix one.

Just reach in there and pinch em between your thumbnail and fingernail like I do! easy-peasy! (of course you will need new hands to replace em with)

Thanks for the info auto, I haven't seen a MBK/MBW yet. Mine are the older ones. My 1665 and 5513 MBW both have that gasket seal groove under the bezel. Your 1680 case sounds good. I may ask narikaa to get me one when I'm ready for a 1680.

What case would you use? Isn't the MBW 1680 really a 5513 case? Without going to Phong or Ndt, is there a reasonable case set? I have about 15 watches ( in my head lol ) planned. A 1680 is on the list.

If the case etc is rep, I would consider buying Josh's 5513 and robbing the bezel, insert and bracelet from that. If the case is gen, I would scour The Vintage Rolex forum and buy a gen bezel and insert, they come up pretty often. The bracelet, I would use from the Josh 5513, it's not bad at all and if you like, you could add a gen clasp to it. Any gen parts on the bracelet on that watch... you can sell to recoup some money. It's pretty hard to figure what to do.. without knowing the value or gen parts of what you have. When does it arrive?

Sardonix, Sorry if I have confused the issue here, but I am confused myself. Is your watch gen, or frankin with mixed gen/rep parts or just rep mixed parts here? Obviously I see the Tudor rotor.
