Today I decided to follow my heart. Here in Alaska we have a saying... "Go big, or go home". Today it's time to Go Big. Or..... ummmmmm...... well, you know. So I busted out the rarest item in my collection. It gets NO wrist time, for several reasons. Yes, it lives in a tightly sealed case, and it's near mint. One would expect this from a piece that hasn't seen the light of day more than 5 times since it was built. Even the stitched leather strap is nearly pristine. I know..... I'm not one to brag about my watches. But this is really something special. It makes a statement on the wrist. And so, I give you.......... The Miguel. Please. Hold your applause.

Well said automatico. This is why I don't wear "new" Rolex, and stick entirely to vintages. They hearken back to earlier days when the company had different priorities. Although, I doubt many people today would look at an old Rolex and "get it" about the statement it makes compared to new bling / new corporate priorities.

I worked with nick many years ago when I was building my Frosty Flake and I learned about Snowflake hands way back then. There's a very specific set of ratios that make them look "right" and he was kind enough to show me. That's when I learned about long Snowflake tails too. This photo just happened on its own but it really shows several of the ratios. Too bad it wasn't 3:15:15 when I took it, then you'd see how the arrows and tips reach the tip of the hours index.

Sure it does. Anything goes at the Fly-In. Check out those cheater STOL flaps and ultralight body... that plane gets used for one purpose. BTW that's probably more like a 30mph wind. Lots of planes here (like the Helio Courier) can fly and maneuver at 30mph, unimproved. The winner at last year's Fly-In had a 20 foot landing and a 24 foot takeoff, for a combined win at 44 feet, with a 14 knot wind. Here's the winner from this year.

Here in Alaska we have an event called the Valdez Fly-In where the goal is to make the shortest landing possible, and then take off in the shortest distance. You have to stick it between the cones. This is the best short landing I've ever seen. [emoji106] http://m.liveleak.com/view?i=5d3_1468355217
