  1. Herb Brooks, Miracle: "Great moments are born from great opportunity."
  2. ......and all the other many Doxaholics that walk these halls? A few I'm keeping quiet at their request, but hey... we've all seen Lani's SUB300 and had heart palpitations. Yo Brudah, where's that beast?!
  3. I'm always glad to dangle eye candy out there! Here's my vintage Doxa pair. The über rare SUB300 "Black Lung", 6 examples known to exist: The not-as-rare SUB300 "Sharkhunter":
  4. "He's only mostly dead" - Princess Bride "Herb Brooks: I'll be your coach, I won't be your friend. If you need one of those, take it up with Doc or Coach Patrick." -Miracle, 2004 "Herb Brooks: When you pull on that jersey, you represent yourself and your teammates. And the name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back! Get that through your head!" - Miracle
  5. Spot on, to my eye this is THE classic Doxa. If I didn't already have one...
  6. Do it! Do it! That svelte orange beauty would look great on her wrist! For ideas of how this Doxa can look, check out Lani's SUB300.
  7. Heads up Doxaholics, there's a very rare SUB 300 Professional for sale on EBay. This is the one with the domed acrylic crystal and orange dial. http://cgi.ebay.com/SWISS-DOXA-Sub-300-Professional-Aut-Cal-17-jewels-/120672635367?pt=Wristwatches&hash=item1c18a649e7
  8. Here's a shot of the collection ca. a year ago, and the "quick winder"
  9. I couldn't agree more. This one goes everywhere all the time and I don't even think about it anymore.
  10. I wonder if Ubi has considered a Series-I Disco instead?
  11. Neither snow, nor sleet, nor waist-deep water will keep it from its appointed rounds!
  12. Boy you've got that right... the Disco is flippin' magical the way it gets around in the snow. Several times I've been in snow deep enough I was pushing it with my headlights and had no problems at all.
  13. WOW, you guys have nice stuff. And the photo skills to do them justice!
  14. Oh baby! There's nothing like a Defender, be it a 110 or a 90.
  15. Very, very nice! There's another trick for hands you should try: make some very strong espresso with crema. Then use a q-tip and apply the crema foam, not the liquid, to the hands, covering the metal and lume. The crema will dissolve down to a liquid, and migrate to the edges of the lume, making them darker, and will leave very nice "corrosion" on the metal.
  16. That's just an amazing build story. Fantastic perseverance, and killer results! Let me know when you toss a $100 black dialed 6542 together, I'll give you several times that amount in exchange!
  17. FANTASTIC build!! I see that Fuk Yuen added his own small touch to the dial... at the 6:00 position instead of "SWISS" it reads "FYWIS".
  18. Bezel on the GMT is from a Sub.
  19. I don't understand all them hoitsy toitsy names. I keep it simple. Here's my top Walmart choices: Chateau Traileur Parc White Trashfindel Big Red Gulp Grape Expectations Domaine Wal-Mart "Merde du Pays" NASCARbernet Chef Boyardeaux Peanut Noir Chateau des Moines I Can't Believe It's Not Vinegar! World Championship Riesling Nasti Spumante
  20. Ubi, give me a call and I'll set you up with the #1 Rover mechanic in the region. The man is an encyclopedia and can answer anything.
  21. Here's a good resource for owner experiences. http://townhall-talk.edmunds.com/direct/view/.f0d65f0/
  22. That's it, THAAAAAAAT'S it. Take away the one remaining perk we Mods have on this board.
  23. It's a shame to hear this about the new Rovers. I've got a '96 Discovery that is far and away the strongest and most reliable vehicle I've ever owned. And that includes 13 Hondas. The old girl goes anywhere, does anything, in any conditions. Of all the people I know she's the one that gets called out when conditions or demands are the worst. I hope Rover can turn it around.
