  1. Be careful not to get too much in there, then it will ooze in and gum up the works so the bezel doesn't turn right.
  2. Yeah baby! And remember, don't take it too seriously... just chill. Summer is coming back eventually.
  3. Fantastic photos! WOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOO!!! Break out the snowmachines! Drag races in the cul-de-sac, baby!
  4. I noticed it has a Certina crown. I'm looking to replace the crown/tube on my black Sharkhunter ... anyone have suggestions, perhaps something like that nice Certina piece? I want it to be waterproof again. It should be approx 7mm diameter by 3mm wide, and the tube is a press fit into the case.
  5. Good Lord, Hike... your car went into the ditch just going up your driveway?! Now THAT is a storm!!
  6. No kidding! You know what this means? CHECK THOSE CASEBACK SEALS, LADS!! Seriously, my prayers are with you. First and foremost, get your families safe, make sure everyone understands an emergency plan in case communications go down for an extended period, agree on a meeting place where you can all find each other if separated, and carry your emergency supplies at all times. Be safe, go slow, one step at a time. Plan your moves. You'll be okay.
  7. Niiiiiiiiiiiice! It looks like it's nice, light dry snow too. Nice job shoveling! I bought a snowblower that I affectionately nicknamed Brunhilda, and we've got a date tonight. It snowed hard all last night and all day today... we'll see how close I can get to the house before I bury the Rover. Then it's Brunhilda to the rescue! (cue Flight of the Valkyries by Wagner) PS: hey we're nowhere close to the records... a few years ago we got 92 feet of snow
  8. Yeah baby! I'm a huge fan of wooden skis, leather boots and woolies. Do you skate or ski diagonal?
  9. Yeah that's pretty cold. My worst wind chill was estimated at -178F, estimated because the charts don't go that low.
  10. Here's a pretty respectable temperature. Good thing the wind wasn't blowing!
  11. I experimented a product I found, "Flitz" metal polish. Many new bracelets are very stiff, so I tried working the Flitz into the links and then flexing and twisting them. The polish quickly creates the equivalent of a couple years of use, freeing up the stiff links and making it feel much more silky. I used this (extensively) on a Yuki 7206 and it already feels decades old. You can rub it over rough edges and smooth them down, but it will polish the link faces as you do... so you'll have to brush them again when you're done.
  12. Drat, I was going to post up a spanking new Über-franken!
  13. Oh yeah that's going to be nice!
  14. Hey Chief have a good trip. Do yourself a favor and stop in Seaside, stay at the Shiloh Inn on the beach and have a ribeye.
  15. #1 has a ginormous gap before the M in Meters #1 has better font for SCOC but the spacing is terrible #2 has better spacing for plots-to-hashes Does either one show the underlying dial texture through the "text" of the COMEX logo?
  16. Gahhhhhhhhhh! I vote for #2, but there are aspects of #1 that are better. Overall, #2 is closer to gen. Sorta.
  17. "Percussive maintenance" is my rule of thumb. Smack it hard against something. .......or take someone else's more constructive advice.......
  18. I'm looking at that bezel and wondering why it isn't worn away at the tips. It looks just like the batch of bezels that recently flooded Ebay.
  19. That reminds me -- A LOT -- of the story behind my 1665.
  20. WOW!!! So you're the one that snagged that Rambler! Very nice pickup!!
  21. You forgot the best one of all... 4) People wear mechanical watches because of the "tick tock" I LOVE to listen to mine tick. Each one is different, some are petulant and some are melodious and some sound like my Land Rover at -30F with thick oil. It gives them character, whether they're gen or franken or rep.
