  1. Tyrant, you'd do well to learn not to let things bother you that you cannot control. So they laugh it up at other fora... big deal. It doesn't hurt you in the slightest. Best thing you can do is act with integrity and build a solid reputation. THAT is what speaks loudest when the gnats are buzzing around. I figure probably half the people in the world will hate me, and half will accept me. The further you go up the leadership ladder, the uglier those odds get. So let it slide off like water off a duck's back and focus on the things that matter. Like... Who's got the best Sub?!
  2. I love the finish on that case! How'd you do that?!!!
  3. The really crazy thing is, some day in the not too distant future these prices will seem like bargains.
  4. "Only November"!!!! Hah, where I live it's Christmas year round!
  5. Tonight something a little different, for Sogeha's sake. Beautiful vocals! As gorgeous as her voice is, she can't hold a candle to Loreena McKennitt....
  6. Ohhhhhhh yeah! Very tasty. I gotta see these pics!
  7. It seems like each of us try some of this and some of that, until one fine day we're introduced to what winds up being that perfect watch. It fits right, it feels right, it's unobtrusive and it just "clicks". Then it's the one we reach for every morning, and the others just fade into dust collectors.
  8. I had that happen once. I shipped my 6536/1 to The Zigmeister and it disappeared in the mail. Three months later it came back, box torn open and retaped several times, with orange Customs stickers saying "Canada does not allow shipment of counterfeit goods". They had no idea it was genuine.
  9. I bought a sexy semi-bubbleback for the Nastymariner and it's already been 3 weeks. Patience is a virtue, dammit! I keep telling myself that.
  10. Way back when Maria was still making MBWs I sent a big wad of cash to the original "Scotty" and started waiting. He had the direct line to Maria so I was guaranteed a piece. Almost 3 months later, with zero communication, a package arrived at Chez Nanuq with the prettiest little DR Sea Dweller I'd ever seen. They both came through.
  11. Welcome aboard! Those choices put you right smack in the sweet spot of about 100 build articles here... you're in for a treat. Let's see some photos of that MkII Kingston!
  12. Man I love the look of those old "cushion" cases.
  13. I have a legitimate 1958 Submariner and it's well worn. I built its big brother from the same era, and over two years' time I nearly have the patina to where it looks almost sorta the same-ish, kinda, a little bit if you close one eye. The eye is incredibly astute and it picks up fake wabi instantly. If you got it, keep it!
  14. Boy I dunno, if it was up to me I'd leave that Breitling dial and hands alone. Legitimate "wabi" is verrrrry hard to reproduce and you've got it there. Give it some time and you might find you prefer the tatty look.
  15. Jack1993 it looks like you've found a home here. Very few of us are happy to just buy and wear something, before you know it the tools are out. I'd like to see that one finished and photo'd if you could get someone to make that 18k marker for you.
  16. Smallest for me was a little gold Gruen manual wind tank watch back in the 80s. On a good day it was maybe 1" long top to bottom. Today it even looks small on the wrist of Mrs. Nanuq. Biggest? That's easy, it was some Godforsaken PAM monstrosity at AJ's house in the UK. It took two men and a small boy just to wind the behemoth. But being a good guest [emoji56] I didn't say anything at the time.
  17. Close, ETA 2452 [emoji173]️
  18. I ran across a piece I've never heard of, the Emmegi SeaMagnum 300. What caught my eye was the near exact copy of a Doxa SUB 300, with some significant differences. I know the Jenny story and all the spun-off parts to Squale, Auricoste, Spirotechnique and Doxa of course. But this one is different. Think Blancpain FF Barakuda meets Berios Squale Master meets Omega SM300. But this sultry beauty wears a 19mm BOR bracelet, and her dimensions are a couple percent smaller all around than a Doxa 300 of the era, although the parts and construction are otherwise identical. Gorgeous, and elusive. I googled a long time and the only history I can find is this one watch. With this build quality and attention to detail, there's got to be more to the story. I've got time and a search engine. Until then, here are a few shots. The dial is absolutely pristine but has a rough texture. Today I figured that out... she's reflective over the entire orange surface. I've never seen that before either. What an obscure beauty.
  19. Beautiful choice, that's an absolute icon. Wear it with pride!
  20. Woo hooooo!! Now that's a manly arm. The pink is the finishing touch [emoji12]
  21. @Sogeha have you corrected this Monster deficiency yet??
