Haha! Had to cover that misprint dial somehow! Yeah - I have seen later matte gilt... However, chapter rings come from the earlier, dressier era of Rolex watches...
-
Not all gilt are glossy, but I think all chapter rings are... I think they're an ok base for a starter. At this point in the rep game, I am pretty much only satisfied with a gen dial (as I'm sure others are) but for a newby this would be a good chance for them to get their feet wet.

has anyone ever built one of these white 1016 explorers ?

Same here!! -
Whoopy, what are the odds that if this order goes through, that you will be doing another order? IE: If we don't order now, is that it? Is this a one-run basis or the first (of hopefully) many?

+1 on the 1016, especially if it is a gilt w/ minute track...

Cool! Glad to hear. I'll keep your name in mind, too, in the future - I have lots of watches that occasionally need service. Thanks! -
Rep Watch Service CONUS for a Zodiac 75B
ww12345 replied to ww12345's topic in Watch Repair & Upgrade
I think so. At the moment, the movement is with 1010 Watch Repair, here in CA. I guess we'll find out in a little while whether it is fixable... -
Does one exist? I would love to have a chapter ring gilt dial on my Explorer, but when I checked last, they were no more than a figment of imagination. Has someone found/created a decent dial?

I'm on the last stage of a 1675 project - I'm trying to find someone who can service my Zodiac 75B movement so that I can get my 1675 running. Are there any suggestions for modders willing to take on the job? Thanks in advance!

recieved a watch for repair with no contact info
ww12345 replied to mymanmatt's topic in The Rolex Area
It had a return address, just no note on the inside. :S I was rushing to get it to the mail and sealed it up without the nicely written note I had, so it took this thread to find who actually owned it! (me) -

PM sent. I had a nice note written, but didn't include it in the box. I'm 99% sure you are talking about my watch... -
I don't want to give anything away, but if you can wait a while, a member here has some very promising prototypes...

I don't know - to me the 3, 6, and 9 markers look like standard Rolex vintage lume. If you notice, they each look like they were squeezed out of a tube (something I always thought was odd, but most gen NOS samples show that to be accurate). Could be accurate, but like Freddy said, always buy the seller.

I have a 5513 Sub that, for some reason, stops and starts rather erratically. I know this question probably would have been better in a different section, but I figured I'd ask it here because this seems to be the section with the most "franken" builders. This 5513 seems to be fully wound, and will run for like 5 seconds and then stop. Does anyone have any ideas what might be wrong with it, or who could fix it for me? Thanks in advance!

Wow. I have never liked the 1680 until now. I'm in for this, as well as any other offerings you have in the future. I agree with Nanuq - you have really changed the course of reps with this project. Excellent work!

By the way, here are some photos PB took of the DW aligning...

Will do. I'll try to get some more pictures taken tomorrow, and I'll try using a white background with plenty of foreground light (what I've learned so far from the photography forum.) Stay tuned!

I know - this was with all the settings. I'm going to have to try and do a better job next time. Any tips? Your photos usually (read: always) come out cool...
