  1. No knowledge of Chanel, but as jay said, the quartz is pretty user friendly, especially if you are wearing the watch in a rotation. The quartz is pretty muсh "grab and go" My wife much prefers her quartz watches to her mechanical, as she doesn't like to set time and date every time she wears a different watch.
  2. I just got in a new watch yesterday, AP Forged Carbon Diver. Brand new from another great member here who did a C&R. At any rate, I was taking some photos last night, thought you might like to see them. Actually I was trying to do some serious photos, and somehow I hit the wrong button, or combo of buttons, and the camera shifted into "photo effects" mode. I was just merrily snapping away, and didn't realize what happened until I downloaded the photos and looked at them on my computer. I was a little PO'ed at first, because of what I did, I would need to go back and redo the photos. Well, I realized, sometimes we are a little too anal about our watches here, and maybe we need to loosen up some!! It's a cold gloomy Saturday here, and I'm on call as well, so anything to brighten the day !! Here is my new AP Forged Carbon V3
  3. I would suggest that you go over to the Vintage Rolex market and look there. the watches that are sold there are very carefully vetted by members who are very knowledgable. you won't have to worry about buying a fake Rolex there, and while the prices aren't cheap, the watches are priced in line with their rarity and condition.
  4. Thanks hike, Yours will be in in a few days, and we can compare note's.
  5. First off this is not a rail dial. Rail dials have even spacing the E in Superlative and the Y in Officially are lined up directly above and below each other, the same with the C in Chronometer and the C in Certified. SUPERLATIVE CHRONOMETER OFFICIALLY CERTIFIED AFA the watch, the dial is definitely suspect, the dial indices at 6 and 9 are too thin, and I'm suspicious of the shine on all the plots, this is either an aftermarket dial that someone has vintigized, or a refinished gen dial. Before putting down money for this one, I would have to see the movement, and a closer look at everything including the insides of the lugs to see the serial number, etc.
  6. Just got this one in yesterday. Brand new from another fine RWG member Whoops!! I think that rubber thingy need to come off
  7. The very best to you and your lively daughter. What a wonderful young lady to do what she is doing to help other much less fortunate folks. Happy to make a donation.
  8. Do the Rolex service crystals (AR'ed) have the etched crown. With or without, I would love to Have one on my 16613. May not be OK, but I was under the impression Rolex was replacing the non Ar crystals with new ones with AR?
  9. Sounds like a great alternative for rep builds like the 16710 and the 16610/3 . I would love to see someone make a really good aftermarket crystal with the AR'ed Cyclops, but I suppose that's wishful thinking.
  10. You need a generator!! We live out in the country, and have been plagued by power failures for years. Ice storms(Rare) hurricanes every few years, but severe thunderstorms often kept us in the dark quite a bit. I finally bit the bullet last year and installed whole house generator. it's wonderful, power goes out, in about 20 seconds, the generator starts powers on, everything working and you would never know it was out. If you had a generator, you would still be sleeping soundly, your CPAP machine humming merrily along!!
  11. Just a touch off the subject, but does anyone have a plausible reason as to why AP uses a relatively slow beat movement, when the trend for years has been a movement toward faster beat movements? 28800 seems to be the norm, with some movements at around 33000. Sort of looks like a step back in time. I know that they use their own in house movements, but it seems like it would be just as easy to build a fast beat.
  12. Not sure if this one is fictitious, but if you look up 7750 movements, they come in several dial configurations Go to this website, everything you ever wanted to know about the Val 7750 http://www.chronomaddox.com/valjoux_7750_engine.html
  13. Why don't you do some research, go over to the IWC forum and do a search on the watch you are looking for, I'm sure you can find plenty of information if you look.
  14. As a new buyer with NO experience you need to stick to the dealers on this or other rep forums. I have never heard of the site you listed, and while it may be legit, it could just as we'll be a scam site
  15. Just got an email from Angus the V3 is put of stock and he doesn't know when they will be available again.
  16. Bah, Humbug, just got an email from angus, the V3 is out of stock and no idea when more will be available. Anyone got one they don't like?
  17. Has anyone done a pressure test on theirs? Angus lists the V3 as having a WR of >50 meters. Seems pretty ambitious for a rep, but then writing it doesn't necessarily mean that it really is. I'm seriously leaning toward a V3 as well. Just sold a 6263 Daytona, and the funds are begging to be spent!!
  18. Why don't you just buy another movement and have a watchmaker put it in your watch. Probably pick up an Asian clone Movement and get it installed. You should be good to go. If the stem is so tight that you are stripping out the crown threads, then there is a problem. You did say that you had this happen with another watch, so there is a possibility that you are yanking on the crown. You have to remember watches are precision instruments, and you need to use your Herculean strength accordingly!!
