  1. I'm having some problems that never cropped up before. One, when I try to add a photo to a post, I used to go to advanced, and down at the lower left was the "Attach Files" area. I would select the photo files and when each of them downloaded, I would press the "Add to post" next to the photo, and it would be added. Now nothing happens, and the only way I can attach photos is to download all the photo files and then hit "Try our advanced Downloader" then the images appear as "Attached images". What's changed ? Second, I can no longer quote anyone in my post. I have tried, and it will not transfer the quoted post to the top of my post that I'm composing. These are fairly minor, but irritating little quirks, that I don't like. I was just wondering if anyone else was having these problems or is it just me. I do know that the latest version of IE is problematic for some websites.
  2. Sounds to me as though you will need to stick to one of the Rolex models or possibly the Omega GMT. For about the price of one of these , you could probably also get a gently used Steinhart or similar brands.
  3. Well there you go guys, the perfect Christmas gift to yourself!!
  4. Don't know about that one, but I would sure like to have one of the V5 ROO Divers !!
  5. Just a question. Whats a selita doing in a Seiko monster (not stock I'm sure!) Same question? Seiko uses their own movements in their watches. Dave another thing, I believe that the 2824 and the 2836 have different stem heights. I know in Rolex builds, they are not interchangeable, as the stem height causes problems with the movement if it isn't the correct one.
  6. I would vote for a Seiko, quality build, good reputation, and very nice watches. You can't beat the lume on Seikos either. Monster is very nice, but they have a lot of models that fall in that price range. Look at the Seikos on the net, lots of sellers and deeply discounted prices.
  7. The reason the AR is appalling is there is none on any of the Rolex watches!! Rolex has never used AR on their crystals, only lately in the cyclops. Guy sounds like a butt hole , but the watches are genuine.
  8. Does anyone make the metal or plastic inserts for sale separately to use with other makers straps?
  9. The date will not set with the quickset? Are you finding the second crown position correctly, because with some movements, it's tricky to find. A tiny bit too far out and you are in the hand setting position. If the watch is a keeper, I would get the watch serviced and get the time setting problem sorted out as well as a strip. clean and oil.
  10. I have to agree. unless the movement is exceptional, which unfortunately 2836's are not, it's better to keep them behind solid steel.
  11. Do any other strap makers add the metal inserts in their straps. Or, secondly, are the inserts available so that they can be inserted in any makers strap? I could certainly see where not having some type of insert would allow the straps to stretch over the lug screws, and eventually either break or not look very nice. Leather by it's nature will stretch over time, and the stretching will be accelerated by tension on the leather.
  12. this the one I'm waiting for. Probably at least another 6 months to go, but nothing about MKII is fast. It's the MKII homage to the 6542.these are just preliminary renderings to show the different fonts for the bezel insert.
  13. Great work!! Also anxious to see the finished product.
  14. You are confused because you have been here one day and made one post!! Do some research, read the reviews in the AP forum here, I would bet that most of your questions will be answered and you will no longer be confused. Only after you become knowledgeable about the watches you are interested in will you be able to make a logical decision about what watch to buy.
  15. Now that you see how to do it, I would try a couple more and try to get the inner side down to spec without chipping the ceramic. Problem with flaws, especially visible ones, 99.9% of folks will never notice them, because they aren't even looking, they could care less what sort of watch you have on, and the vast majority can't tell a Rolex from a Timex, so that isn't really a problem. the problem is you, or me or any of us who are here. We are so OCD about watches, flaws like that would drive most of us crazy. If it's and old beater, that's one thing, but a nice watch with flaws? chances are it will end up in the watch box and never get worn.
  16. Tom ,the big problem here is they didn't convert a regular DJ to a blinged out model with a diamond dial and bezel, they made it into a completely different watch, they made a DJ into a DD, and that's not easily convertible back to a DJ. I would run as fast as I could from this one. No telling what movement is in the watch, but it's not a genuine Day/Date Rolex movement. First off, the Day/Date was only made in gold, except for a few +/- 6 that were made in SS, but they are rarer and more desirable than any Gold D/D. the bracelet on this one is a fake SS President bracelet with stones. I would doubt that they are genuine diamonds. You aren't going to find anything with 25 carats of genuine diamonds for 5K. As said before this was a TT Datejust case that someone used to build a Day/Date. I don't care what the seller says about appraisals, they aren't worth the paper they are printed on unless they are from a certified appraiser. Some entity like GIA. Look at EBay, they sell jewelry all the time with inflated appraisals, that's a sucker hook!!
  17. It's probably not a good idea to put your email address out in the open like this. AFA the Cloisonné watches, I looked on eBay, the only thing I saw were genuine like Pateks, UN and the like for upwards to 150K!!! no cheap ones except tons of women's/girl's beaded bracelets with a tiny watch in the middle. I haven't seen any on the dealers websites, but if you are really wanting one, I would contact a couple of the dealers and see what they have to offer .
  18. That is correct the V3 is from a new factory, may be the same one that's making the SS V5 Diver, but not sure. Definitely not noob factory though. at any rate, the V3 is one fine watch. I believe that the only thing I will eventually do with mine Is send it to Vac for a better AR, relume and possibly a slow beat conversion. in the meantime, I'm wearing it every day!!
