1. I believe that you have gotten your answer from the gentlemen above. It's not feasible to switch the movement as none of the "off the shelf" 2824's or Sellita SW300's come configured for the date position that you need. I believe that what folks come to realize over time spent here, READING and RESEARCHING, is thare are some watches, in fact a fairly large number of them that are not moddable to any extent. Either the Chinese movements have been modified to mimic a genuine movement for the purpose of a change that's not common to that movement. Case in point this watch where the date window was moved down to 4:30, but not far enough out to the edge, other movements that have Faux power reserve indicators or even some that have working indicators which cannot be transfered to another better movement. Some watches cannot be modded simply because they are fantasy watches and no good would be served because they cannot be made to even slightly resemble their genuine counterparts. Others cannot be modified because the parts are not available at any price. So with some watches, the only mod would be a better strap or bracelet, which in the case of a dress watch, makes a big difference. I hope that this answers your question.
2. I would bet that within a couple of days of them being shipped, you will see some on sale on WUS! I saw this with the MKII Kingston, great watch, pretty decent price, but although it was much hyped, especially on the MKII forum, there were probably 25-30 of the first 200 that went on the block. just the nature of the game. Most guys who frequent watch forums, be they gen or rep, are flippers. How many "grail" watches have you seen come up on the sales forum? Tons of them! be patient, one will come your way.
3. Whoa!! First off the DW Daytona doesn't take a Swiss ETA 7750. the ETA 7750 has subdials at 6.9.12 W/ the seconds at 9. Day/Date @ 3 . This is the 375-400 USD model. The Daytona takes a ETA 7753 which has subdials at 3,6,9 seconds @ 9 and a date @ 4 the price of this one is more like 550.00USD. I know, I just bought one from Ofrei and that's what I paid. Seems like the overhaul price is pretty steep. Sounds like the guy really doesn't want to work on a A7750, and he's quoting you a "Sucker" price. If you bite, OK, but if you don't he's OK. I would keep looking if I were you.
4. * And then I was so proud of my work, I decided to use a tiny sledge hammer to tap the case back on!!! OH! It screws in, must have dozed off during that part of the lecture.

See guys everyone benefits from RWG
Join today
5. Damn!!! Five minutes after I finally get a genuine bezel and insert for my GMTIIC, Rolex comes along and changes the colors. i do like the Blue/Black insert. Not much else in the Rolex Basel 2013 lineup floats my boat!!
6. What movement is in the watch now? I'm sure that some of the guys over in the EU will chime in with advice as to who you can send it to on your side of the pond.
7. please enclose model with my Tshirt!! Seriously guys, Everyone who uses this forum should be at least a VIP member. We cannot expect to enjoy the advantages of the forum and all the information that has saved every one of us untold amounts of money, for free. Even if it is just giving you correct information about new watches and dealers and keeping you off the scam sites that take your money and give you nothing in return!!
8. The biggest problem with the 1680's outside of the crown height, which really isn' that noticeable is the DW alignment. I suppose if you want to use a DW overlay, it's possible to get the DW aligned, but if you want to use one of the old silver DW's it is difficult to get everything aligned properly. Another thing if you go from theMBW dial to a gen dial, you have to relieve the groove so that the larger gen dial fits, then when you get it to fit, the dial being larger is partially under the rehaut. What happens then is the minute markers are partially hidden. sort of looks odd, if you know what to look for as the dial now appears to have shorter markers.
9. honestly, I like the older 16610's better. The only new Rolex I like is the ceramic GMT. I tried the DSSD twice and sold both of them.
10. probably senior pilot with Emirates or Singapore Airline,Air France or Lufthansa!! Doubt that it was an Atlantic Southeast Commuter or American Eagle pilot!!
11. what is strange, it works OK with Tapatalk, but tonight I tried repeatedly on my computer, could open the home page but could not go to any forums.
12. I believe you are dead on. What with all the mergers and fleet cutbacks, pilots have been squeezed . I read a story a year or two back, about the crappy pay and terrible schedules of younger pilots working for some of the commuter airlines. Some guys were sleeping in their cars because they were assigned to flights that came and went far from their home. They couldn't afford a place to stay. I would hate to think that the guy flying the plane flew in late the night before and slept in his car overnight!!! No wonder those guys/ gals can't afford a decent watch.
13. Still isn't working for me. Only get new posts, no forums at all.
14. Not a problem, it would have been more helpful if you had noted that "here is a photo of a genuine Rolex Tridor for comparison" It's too bad your friend can't take better photos of the watch, it's impossible to tell anything from the ones that she took. the reason i did the investigation , which really didn't take any time at all, was out of curiosity as I had never seen a tridor, and I was of the same impression as several other posters that a ss/gold Day/date didn't exist. Now i know that there is and exception to that. Have a great day
15. Whether or not the story about Juan Trippe buying the white dial 6542's for the executives is legend or urban legend is not provable until someone comes up with an invoice from Rolex to PanAm for X number of white dial 6542's or a letter from PanAm ordering these watches. It's very strange that there have not been a single one surface over the years with any sort of provenence. A letter from the owner or a family member selling a watch that is tracable back to PanAm. A widow whose husband worked for PanAm and remembers the watch being given to him, just about anything that can be authenticated would do. One thing you can be assured of, unless the company makes a complete about face , Rolex SA is not going to get involved in authenticating the story, one way or the other. What Freddy is saying is in some respects probably more plausable, Rolex made a batch of these as a "trial balloon" testing the market for a white dial 6542, Maybe PanAm bought some or all of them, who knows. the folks who were involved are long gone, and the folks with the records aren't saying
16. If you google Rolex tridor and click on images, there are lots of photos of watches that look just like the last photo the tri-color center links. so after seeing those photos, i believe the last photo is a photo of a genuine, buit it's not the same watch as pictured in those first crappy photos. the watch in the last photo is listed on a website http://market.watchprosite.com/?show=collection.detail&id=38961&brandview=Rolex&mod=&series=+Tridor*+Tridor the seller is in Mexico. So sir, my question to you is why put up a photo of a completely unrelated watch that belongs to a seller who is in Mexico. A watch that bears no resemblence to the one in the first blurry, out of focus photos? Are you just playing games, or do you want help. i would advise you to come back with better photos if you want anyone here to help you, and if you post photos of watches that you have lifted from someone else's sales site, i would think that common courtesy should dicatate that you acknowledge that these are photos for comparison purposes and not better images of your friends watch.
17. You really need some high res close up photos to determine anything. Interesting what is the stripe running down the middle of the gold links in the bracelet? those end links may not be fitting due to the position of the watch, but it's impossible to really tell anything without better photos. Removing the bracelet and looking at the serial # as well as the model # would help, and of course removing the back and having a look at the movement would be really helpful.
18. Hey hammer time, Is the Miyota the omly option? i was thinking that if it fit, a 2846 would allow a better range of choices. I really like CWP's hands, I got a set for my 7924 and should Iever find a better dial for it, I'll get another set that isn't quite as "Aged"!!
19. Gen jubilees are probably the least expensive of all gen Rolex bracelets. I would try to find a gen if possible. If you find a good rep and want to add a gen clasp, I have one 62510H Genuine I took off my 16750 GMt when I got a proper Oyster clasp for it.
20. So which 6mm crown would be the best for a 6563? Best at any price and cheapest best ? I'm talking about gen crowns only.
21. Yeh, the cyclops might have AR under it, but the rest is darn sure plenty reflective. That insert reflects everything!! maybe Rolex needs to AR the insert too. I have to say I really, really like this watch. kudos to sneed for the great job that he did getting everything to fit. You can't imagine the difference in the bezel "click" when you rotate the bezel. Sort of the difference between the door on a Bentley closing and the door on a Chevy Cavalier closing!!
