  1. thats why a Tudor chrono would fit better, because it hs as date
  2. since you are pretty biased toward Rolex in your collection, I think the snowflake or the big block would be great builds. I have always wanted a big block, probably should have bought a gen a few years back when Tudors weren't nearly as popular. to me with the right dial configuration, it has al the class of the older Rolex Cosmographs with a date function which to me is really nice to have.
  3. Pretty correct. You have to glean through a lot of superfluous information in hopes of finding the pearls!! There are lots of folks here who are interested in finding out more info, so there really isn't a stupid question nor is their a stupid answer, provided the question is valid, and the answer is relevant to the question. Sometimes we get a little testy here, especially when folks ask the same questions over and over. The biggest problem often is the question(s) are so generalized that it's practically impossible to answer. If someone asks a specific question, they should expect a specific answer if the question is too general, then maybe no answer. Here is and example: I would like to know about GMTIIC's, so I ask who has the best GMTIIC? OK, so here's the problem. What price are you wanting to pay 180.00USD tops, 300.00 USD or more. What type movement do you want, Asian clone.Swiss ETA, etc. What I should ask is a more specific question like who has the best GMT with CHS movement and AR'ed Cyclops, or who sells the BP GMTIIC's? The more specific the question, the more accurate the answer
  4. I'll post some high res photos this afternoon when I get home. Will give you a good basis of comparison.
  5. Probably when I decide to change over to the CHS movement,I'll pick up one of these BP watches and then I 'll have the dial and mpvement that can be used in the other watch. In another thread, you mentioned a gen dial, as I replied it's too expensive. another thing when you replace an ETA dial with a gen, you have the mismatched dial feet situation to contend with as well as DW alignment problems, which seem to plague rep watches. Not sure if there is enough room under the dial to use and overlay.
  6. Actually, that isn't the biggest tell, the ICHS movement is the biggest. the seller on Ebay wants 750 for that dial, i don't think that there is 750.00 USD worth of difference in the two. I do plan at some point in time getting a CHS movement and replacing the ICHS movementI've ben put off with htose movements in the past because of the unrealiability factor, but they seem to be a better movement now. For the time being, I want to wear it and enjoy the watch for a while, plus i have two other project watches going, and my wife is starting to give me some hard looks whenever packages arrive at our house!!!
  7. That's what I was talking about, unless you have a good photo of a set of gen hands you will have a harder time seeing the subtle (and sometimes not so subtle) differences in the hands. Most of the replica Tudor Snowflake hand sets are pretty bad. The y make the minute hand too "Fat" and too long, and the nose on the hour hand is off, sometimes the "Snowflake" is more elliptical on the rep hands. I'll post some clear photos of a gen 9411/0 with a set of gen tritium hands.
  8. Almost all of your questions will be answered by the modder,as my watch is finished, and he is going to write a post with photos probably tomorrow. Stay Tuned!!!
  9. Crappy hands are a big tell with snowflakes. I would get a good high res photo of gen hands and compare all of the aftermarket ones andpick the best. gens will fit ETA movements, but they are really expensive. Iwould bet that Classic Watch Parts has the best.
  10. that looks mighty nice. It needs to be in some warm weather!!
  11. I would check with the trusted dealers, there is a new model ,not sure if it's out yet, but it's supposed to be 1:1 genuine, superlumed and is available with the correct hand stack movement. Supposed to be offering the AR under the Cyclops like the gen as well. Check all of the websites and see which one fits the description. there was a post here on the Rolex forum last week about the new model. If it's not out yet, iwould wait, because it's probably going to be out in a few weeks. None of the dealers have a really accurate bezel/insert however, it's close but not that good. Read this post http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/157439-gmt-iic-bezelinsert-comparison-genuine-to-rep/ and this one as well http://www.rwgforum.net/topic/156690-best-rolex-gmt-master-ceramic/
  12. Welcome back. Some of us have come and gone and come back, some have come and gone, others never left!! I have to second what several have said before. When we started years ago, there weren't many really good quality reps, Eddie Lee had some nice Pams, River as well, George, Maria with the MBW Rolexes, but after that the reps were for the most part pretty crappy, at least the ones I had. One thing that's different, back then, the Swiss ETA's were and option in pretty much all the upper end reps, not so much any more, as the ETA's are getting scarce and expensive. Several very good modders/ watchmakers in the EU, so if you get back in, shouldn't have a problem with modding and service.
  13. Depends on where you're flying. Since the "recession" lots of businesses are forcing folks even pretty high up execs to fly coach, especially on domestic flights of just a few hours. I know if I'm flying to say somewhere within a thousand miles of my home airport, I will always fly coach, but across the pond we fly business .Another thing to remember within the CONUS, unless you are flying coast to coast, airlines like Delta put you in a 70-100 passenger Embraer or Bombardier Commuter and there ain't no first, business, and pretty much no coach either!!! Worst flight in my life was on a 100% full commuter from Portland Maine to Atlanta. Thank goodness my wife was in the other seat, and not some 300 pounder who took all of theirs and half of mine!! Still very uncomfortable 3.5 hours
  14. Watch pillows!! You need three identical sofa cushions to strap those big hulks on!!
  15. Correct, The guys selling frankens as gens on Ebay are getting them from somewhere. they aren't sitting at a bench all day, building watches, they're too lazy for that!! I would be very careful who you sell to, especially the really nice frankens that are believable enough to be passed off as gens. i believe that this is one of the reasons a lot of the gen watch guys hate reps so much. It's not always reps per se, it's more the fact that they might be seeing those same reps on ebay. I know that there are a lot of really nice Frankens comiing out of Vietnam. I don't keep up with it much now, but there were a few years back and almost constant supply of really nice vintage Blancpain Fifty Fathoms for sale on Ebay, they had a gen or very gen like movement and were very nice, but they were not genuine, just being sold as gens.Sounds like this guy is trolling through all the rep sites and some gen sites as well, buying a few, scamming a few, but always on the lookout for and easy mark. Don't let that person be you!!! Another thing, as nanug stated, if you feel like you have been scammed or a scammer made and attempt, you need to let the mods know immediately, full disclosure, all the details and then post about it here. If someone is scamming or seems like he is setting people up for a scam, the mods can take action before more problems occur. Most of these guys are pretty good. They are going to scam you in such a way that while you might feel protected, in the end they will have your watch and you will have nothing.
  16. Beautiful example of a 7032, and great photos as well.
  17. The nice thing about the Deep Sea Dweller, you don't need weight belts when you're diving. just deflate your BC, and to the bottom you go!!
  18. Interesting, from looking at the photos, the DeepSea Challenger looks much smaller than the Hublot. In the side by side comparison photo, it looks like about the same size as the Submersible. These are all way too big for me. I took a 243 in trade a couple of years back, and it was re photographed and back on the sales forum in a couple of days, just too big for my wrist. The Challenger is a very interesting watch, and I'm sure it will be and attention getter!!
  19. Haven't heard a word, I would love to help out, but never saw anything after September last.
  20. Maybe you an convert the snow dweller into a beach dweller like this one
  21. Everything is out of alignment the dial is rotated clockwise, the crystal is crooked, the crown etching (Which is way too big by the way) should be centered in the bottom laser line. They can do better than this.
  22. Are you looking for the 16710 or the 116710?
  23. That's the one!! Another one that you took out of your bottomless box of beautiful vintage Rolexes!! Very ,very nice Sir.
