  1. Sounds like a mike on a bike size !!
  2. That's what you get when someone who doesn't know what they are doing, tries to muddle their way though a crappy job!!! Top photo was factory lume. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. I've got mixed feelings about winders. At one time I had three 4 watch winders and kept almost all of my watches on winders. They are handy for non quickset watches (older vintage) that require winding the hands forward 2 revolutions per day to get the date correct. Maybe complications that are a PITA to reset after running down for a few weeks. Other than that, I really can't see the advantage to keeping one wound. I'm down to one working winder, and it has 4 watches being wound, the other 25 or so are in watch boxes and my wrist. I believe that what you read is pretty controversial, the oils used today are synthetic, and while I have no watchmaking knowledge, from all I've read and heard, the new oils are very stable and don't break down like the old natural oils did. That's not to say that oils last forever, because they don't, but they tend to be pretty stable for quite a few years. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  4. I agree, this is a really simple movement. Any competent watchsmith can work on these. the guys quoting you 600-800 Dollars weren't wanting to work on it, they just shot you a sucker price to get you out the door or be stupid enough to spend lots of money. How can the parts cost that much when the movement alone is around 170.00 USD for an ETA Factory sealed movement. you can buy a SeaGull 6497 equivalent movement for around 45-50 USD. Find a local independent, if it looks like the parts are not available, drop in a new A6497. If you get a SeaGull sealed from the factory, it should be serviced and ready to go.
  5. Not sure what watch X-ray above is, which would be the same from a person looking at a scanner as packages go through, practically impossible to tell from and X-ray. But, like someone said before, it's all about the origin country and the packaging. I'm sure most everyone here has gotten a genuine watch shipped from a dealer or from the company. But for those of you who haven't , the difference is Night and Day I couldn't find a photo of a watch package from a TD, thought I had one, but it's lost in several thousand photos!! Here's what a genuine watch that comes through the mail will look like. If it's coming from overseas it will be declared for it's full value and will be insured for that amount. A 2K watch will be declared and insured for 2k. Now, contrast that with the typical package you receive from a TD. Soft non padded envelope, usually containing either a bubble wrapped watch, or at best a Styrofoam watch container. All this with a declared value of 20-50 USD, listed on the customs declaration as "Toy" or "Novelty watch". I doubt that the folks who work for customs are that stupid, that they are fooled into believing that any of our watches are anything but what they are. In this country, most aren't caught, simple because US Customs has bigger things to worry about, they are much more concerned with packages containing drugs, and any type of weapon or device that can be made to make a big BANG!! Another big priority is agricultural products. Any pest be it either plant or animal has the potential to eventually cause millions if not billions of dollars to eradicate or control if unleashed. Another thing, Customs processes literally hundreds of thousands of packages every day. If they took the time to stop and open every package that contained a watch, clock, or electronic device it would bog down the system to the point that in a few days they would have such a huge backlog, they would never catch up. So they have to keep the system humming along. Be happy, because if they ever decided to stop and check, they would make it very difficult to get reps into the country. At this point in time, I believe that they could care less about individuals bringing in one rep from another country.
  6. One if the conundrums of poor workmanship, is the fact that you spend a bunch of money on a watch for service and or mods, the work is not acceptable, but you are out the money! Now, you are faced with spending a lot more to get it fixed right. So, I send the watch to Vac or Domi, the lume will be another 150-175 USD, servicing the movement with a jewel mod will probably be another 250 USD, plus shipping which would add anywhere from 25-100USD. Another 400-500 USD added to the 300 or more that's already been spent on mods/service. Makes for a very expensive watch that I could never get close to my money back on if I need to sell later. Honestly, this is the second time I've gotten burned by bad repair people, I got taken for around 800 USD when MD2020 refused to send back a Daytona 6265 and Swiss 7750 movement. From now on, I'm going to be a lot more careful with my choice of repair folks. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. Thanks Mike, I'm not going to so anything right now, I have three different watches out getting modded/ repaired right now, and I'm going to wait until those are back home before I do any more. I do appreciate the offer, thanks very much. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Mike, I contacted the seller, and he told me that he bought the watch new from Joshua (Perfect Clones). not sure if that would be any help. In the end, it will probably require taking the crystal out measuring it and trying to find another one that fits.
  9. Thanks very much. I really don't have the skills or the tools to tear into a watch!! I was wondering if there were any sources for crystals that I could send with my watch to one of the forum modders to have replaced. I would prefer to keep the Cyclops, my old eyes need all the help they can get. I really appreciate your offer. This is a 44mm PAM, not sure if all the 44mm watches use the same size crystal, this one has I believe a 7mm Cyclops.
  10. Hi guys, I got this 237 in a M2M sale a few weeks back, very nice watch, runs great , has wonderful lume, but it has one glaring problem. The Cyclops is terrible. There are times when the numbers are so distorted that it's almost impossible to read. It almost looks like it's over magnified as well as distorted. Are their aftermarket crystals available for this model with the proper size and magnification Cyclops? Photo:
  11. Glad to see you back, haven't heard from you in a while. Hopefully you can get the mods here to approve your watch service as and approved repair/mod service. in the meantime, hang around and keep your name out in front of the folks here, I know you will pick up some business from here.
  12. 237 today. Very nice watch, however the Cyclops is really bad, lots of distortion.
  13. It's always good to put a disclaimer in your sales thread. not that a lot of the noobs ever read the thread!! (I've had two PM's in the last couple of weeks about a strap that sold a couple of months ago and was clearly marked SOLD!!) Shipping is so unpredictable it's almost laughable. I bought a movement from a guy in the EU, paid for EMS shipping, Shipped on may 5th Shows departing ISC New York on May 7th, that's the last I've heard from it. Buyers cannot blame the shipper for postal problems. If you want something guaranteed, then pay the extra big bucks to have it shipped FedEx or UPS 2nd day or overnight. Probably cost more than the watch, but you will get it fast. If this guy opens up a Paypal dispute please let every forum know his name, so that he can enjoy his watch hobby all by himself!!
  14. Price looked good, but the shipping is half the price of the bezel! Pretty pricy shipping to me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Like I said, beautiful watch, but you gotta find a bracelet!!! Maybe a blue Rubber B, but not black. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  16. Let's remember all of the brave warriors who have laid down their lives for their country. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Construction here in the states has been pretty anemic overall, although there are area where it has never slowed down! In residential construction, places that didn't overbuild, hoping that people would buy, have not suffered as much. One problem that I see, interest rates here have been kept artificially low to stimulate the economy, but once they start to go up, construction will probably stall out completely. Good luck, hope you find something soon. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. Go over to RepGeek, go to the Audemars forum search "perfect polish for FC Diver" shadix has a very comprehensive review. I also believe that he offers a polishing service. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Sorry about the duplicate photo, tapia talk is going crazy!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
