I believe that he will be a huge asset to our forum. I think that he is developing or has developed a good business model, scheduling watches in and very good communication with the customer. I have often wondered why more watch makers/ molders didn't just tell folks, I don't have any openings for X days, weeks or months. That way if you have a watch that needs attention, but is still wearable, you can wear it until it's time to send it in. Of course if it's dead, that is a moot point. With most watchmakers, you PM or email them, and tell them you want to have your watch lumed, dial changed, crystal installed, serviced, etc. they tell you, send it on in, which you do, and then you wait for months. This creates frustration, plus it leads to countless emails and PM's to the watchmaker which only slows down the process as he has to stop and answer the inquiries. Glad to have misiekped on board. Just relax, no matter what you buy, genuine parts, rep watches, electronics parts, etc. shipping takes time. Registered mail is almost as slow as the camel caravans of old, and no matter which shipping method you choose, customs can clear a package in hours, or sometimes it sits for days. I have an OEM PAM strap coming from Spain, posted on April 14th, may get to me tomorrow or Thursday. No way to speed it up, just sit back relax and let the process work. Brad, take a look at this site, several folks here say that this is phong's son who has this website. He has a complete 6542 as well as a kit, or separate parts, case, dial, insert,,etc. he doesn't offer the white dial, but his black/ gilt dial looks OK. I like joeyB's insert, for about half the price. Also I would suspect that you would need to factor in a service on the 1030 movement, unless he guarantees that it has been serviced. Might want to go over to the Vintage Rolex Forum sales forum, search 16750 and you can get a good feel for prices They may be a tad on the high side, but generally the ones that sell quickly are fairly priced.

If you can see the logo easily, without tilting the watch to different positions and or use a loupe, it ain't right.

I agree, the TD models are crap. You can get one reassembled as Freddy said, or have one built from parts. I had one built a year or so back, and while it had lots of problems along the way, it ended up pretty nice. Man, some of those names really bring back memories. The old TRC , I remember watchloverDavid, there were some real characters back then, sort of the Wild Wild West of replica collecting. I remember trying my best to buy a 1665 from "Maria" of MBW fame, never could get into the inner circle, but then along came "George"and "watchmaster" " who could source MBW's, and I was off to the races. That time frame was my first experience with reps, not counting a Rolex rep I bought back in the early 1980's from a magazine ad!! Reps have come a long way since then, only negative has been the movement toward Asian clones rather than ETA Swiss movements which were plentiful and pretty cheap back before Swatch choked off the supply. Still needed to have then serviced as they were bulk buy movements, but once serviced, you were good to go for a long time. Now, the rep manufacturers are making some beautiful reps, but unfortunately, some of the compromised movements, like the APROO sec @ 12 and the Rolex Daytonas sec@6 are probably not the best for the long haul.Hard to beat a good serviced ETA 2824,2836 or 7750 for durability and dependability. Wonder where he found that bezel ? That was the only bezel out of three NOS that I had that would fit any of the watches. Parts are not out there. EBay or anywhere.

Joey, I think yours looks fine. I think the pointy crown guards lessens the gap affect. Droptopman, that one looks pretty nice. I'm not sure the crown will be as noticeable since it sits in tight against the CG's. Like automatico said, it's the space between the crown and the CG that looks odd if you use a 5.3mm crown. Those are beautiful!! Vac does great work, but he isn't fast. I sent him an AP V5 diver on Jan 30th, service, slow beat conversion, Lume and AR. He told me 4 weeks which I discounted because he's done work for me before. It's now May 4th and no word.So my advice to anyone, if you are in a hurry, best find someone else, but if you want really good work, and you are patient, he's your man. I still have three of them. You know, you can't keep them all. Unless I get some extra money, I usually have to sell something to buy another. That was the case with these, I saw other watches that I wanted, and to buy them others had to go. Another reason to get rid off the vintage Doxas is the complete lack of parts. There just aren't any. The Doxa company changed hands three times in the 70's and 80's every time they redesigned the watches and didn't make enough spare parts to service the ones they were building. Over time the few parts were used up, and when they were gone, they were gone. Very frustrating to have a watch that you can't use because the parts are not available. I'm talking about dials, hands, bezels, crowns, bracelets. Restoring a vintage Doxa is like trying to find parts for and A7750' except worse. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It's a beautiful day outside, but I'm on call this weekend, so not much to do except sit around and wait for the phone to ring. There was a recent thread about folks shifting to gens from reps, and vice versa. I got into reps from gens back during the time of the old TRC, and the very early years of this forum. I remembered that at some point, I sold off all my reps and started getting back into gens. from looking at my emails and photos, around 2000., I sold off all my reps and bought gens for 4-5 years, I didn't buy anything but genuine watches. Somewhere along the line, I got interested in Doxa Dive watches and started collecting vintage as well as a few modern ones. I still have the first one I bought an Orange Dial Professional, as well as the old 60's era Doxa pre-sub, and my wife's Coralline that belonged to Dr. Peter Millar, the author of the Doxa books. all the rest are long gone. I found this group shot photo of a bunch of them from back in 2006, thought it might be of some interest to those of you who are dive watch fans as well as Doxa lovers. In the photo are 4 300T Subs, each with a different dial color. this is a complete set, Professional - Orange, Shark Hunter - Black, Divingstar - Yellow and the Sea Rambler - Silver. Also the 1960's Pre sub Diver, a 600T Turnograph and a 600T Shark hunter with the later aluminum bezel. Doxa Family photo!!
