  1. They don't but the Soprod module is added to add the power reserve function. I'm not familiar enough with various movements though to be able to identify what this one is. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Same here Mike, the folks around here are "watch illiterate" LOL. Very few could tell the difference between or care if it's a Rolex or a Timex! We have one nurse in the OR who comments on some of my watches, but she really doesn't know anything about watches, she just likes the ones that to her are a little different to what she sees around, otherwise, no one could give a hoot.i have never ever has anyone ask if any of my watches were "real".
  3. Well guys, my thanks to ezio for being on the front line of defense. I may have a different perspective about what is happening in Ukraine. My wife is Ukrainian, she gets pretty up to date reports from Ukraine news sources, family and friends. She also travels back to Ukraine every summer. All this is very upsetting to her as she is worried about the future of her country. What is so upsetting is Ukraine did nothing to provoke Russia. What is going on in Ukraine was and is solely the business of Ukraine, it's people and it's government. No matter how you cut it, Putin invaded a sovereign country.if the pretext of protecting Russian speakers was valid, he would have to invade Israel, London and Brighton Beach in Brooklyn NY. What he did is illegal and against all laws and rules of respect for other countries borders. All I'm going to say, not looking for a fight with anyone who believes otherwise. All I know is we have a "skin in this game"
  4. Sounds like a really nice deal. Matte dials are definitely worth more than the later dial versions. What serial range? And photos please. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Great post sir. Very informative and enlightening. I do like my AP reps, and would love to own a really nice franken, however I believe those days are past for me. At my age and retirement looming larger and larger, it's hard to justify spending several thousand on a rep. But I do admire them nonetheless. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. I have the utmost sympathy for the seller, and utter contempt for the scam artist that bought the watch and then opened the Paypal dispute. Having said that, I don't believe that WU or bank transfers is the answer. Those pay modalities completely reverse the equation, absolutely no protection for the buyer. With WU once you send the funds, you are pretty much out of luck if the deal goes south. Because of the potential problems, I'm very reluctant to sell outside the CONUS, unless the buyer is a member with some creds. Within the US, I ship priority with insurance and signature on delivery. You can get a copy of the signture and address from the PO, which should help your claim if the buyer claims non delivery. Also if it was not delivered or mis delivered, an insurance claim can be filed. But as has been said, "buy the seller", works both ways.
  7. It has been done plenty if times. Here is mine Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Look at the rep sales forums, they come up for sale occasionally, but be prepared to spend big dollars, as it is very expensive to build a true franken sec@ 12 AP. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. That is just beautiful AJ. What is the size? I'm sure it's too big for my scrawny wrist.
  10. Can anyone tell me if their is a source for a replacement GMT hand for my 063. It has an ETA 2836 movement. Mine has the wrong red tipped GMT hand, also I believe that the tip of the hand is too big. Any help appreciated. Thanks
  11. Neither of those do anything for me, but then being and old codger, I tend to gravitate to more conservative designs.
  12. 063 Really like the watch, but gonna have to do something about the Red GMT hand. Not even close!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. A, This is one of the reasons I was hesitant to get one of the new Panerai GMT's with the sec@9. Quite a few folks said they were OK, but some folks have had problems, and parts are not readily available. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. From my viewpoint buying M2M is a no brainer. Practically all of the reps as well as gen watches I own have been bought that way. Here's why I buy that way. First you can usually save a few bucks as most will be a little cheaper than brand new. Second as you said, no customs drama. The first guy took the customs risk for you. Shipped quickly USPS Priority and the watch is on your wrist in three days. And very important, most reps that develop problems will develop them pretty quickly, so if it is running OK, unless it gets messed up in shipping, which is possible ( tangled hairspring, or magnetized), for the most part they are good to go. Also, with AP ROO's I factor in a service, as they definitely will benefit from a good service, so if a watch has a known but fixable problem, I'm going to send it off and have it serviced, lumed ( if applicable) and the crystal and cyclops AR'ed anyway. By and large the reps today, especially the high end ones are pretty well made watches, they don't "fall apart", but most will definitely benefit from a movement service if you plan to have the watch perform well over a good period of time.rep watches are well constructed, the weak point is the assembly. The rep factories are not like the genuine in Switzerland! The watches are assembled by folks who have minimal training in watch assembly, the environment may be dusty and dirty, the movements are usually dirty and dry, or over oiled with improper lubricants. In a lot of the rep factories, the guy/ gal that put your watch together may have been assembling IPhones, computers, or toasters last week!!They are not skilled watch technicians wearing white lab coats, operating in a "clean room" environment like their counterparts in genuine manufacture's assembly areas. If you realize this, and take it into consideration, along with the idea that the AP you paid 500 USD for is NOT the same as the 20k genuine, you will be fine. Reps are great, most of mine, especially after a movement service perform as good or better than my genuine watches. But, you have to remember that even though your AP ROO looks 95% like the genuine! it is not a genuine. If you want to take them several steps further, for another few thousand, you can have a rep that is 99% of the genuine. Welcome aboard!! Do a lot of reading and research and you will be much better for it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  15. Well guys, I'm back in PAMs in a big way!! Haven't had a single one in several years. At some point, it looked like Panerai was trending to bigger and bigger watches. The last one I had was several years back, it was one of those giant submersibles, maybe 47mm!! I took it in trade for another watch, and sold it almost immediately, way too big for me. 44mm is pushing my limits, but PAMs seem to wear smaller, thinner cases and flat case backs make them more comfortable to me. So, in the last couple of weeks, I bought an 029, and 063 (both old friends as I have owned these before), also I have a 237 incoming!! Three GMT's, my favorite watches. All were M2M purchases, the 029 and 063 both have Swiss ETA 2836 movements. Here is what I have thus far. Excuse the sorry IPhone photos please Sent from my iPad using Tapatalkq
  16. Nice!! That strap really makes a difference. Where have you been, joined in 06, and then you disappeared, stick around lots of great new watches out there. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  17. Man, you took a good lick to the head!!! Better start wearing a hard hat! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  18. I believe that what you described is what Ziggy encountered with mine. He tried it, but after trying, he felt that it was going to be such a tight fit that he couldn't stand behind his work. If you remember back several years ago, a few folks were able to make it work, but every one of them said the same thing, I did it once, but I'm not going to build the second one!!! Also along about that time BK claimed that he had found a fix, and he was going to start offering them, but AFA I know, he never got that project off the ground other than a couple he built as sort of trial runs.i contacted him, and he told me that he would get back to me when he "got the kinks worked out". Must not have, because he never got back with me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I had the same problem, I really, really wanted one about a year ago, probably right about the time DW was having all his problems, and some of the members here were waiting on watches and parts and DW had disappeared. I contacted him and he had one, unfortunately, one it had the black dial and I wanted the gold, and two, his PayPal was locked and he wanted me to use Western Union for payment. I'm very hesitant about WU and certainly not with someone who was having lots of problems. So, long story short, I passed on the watch. AFA another source, I would contact spin master. He was able to get the watch from DW, and do all the mods like remove the rotor and auto wind mechanism. He also could do mods like gen crown, crystal, etc. I would try contacting him to see if he can still source watches and parts from DW. Outside of that, might luck up and find one for sale on one of the sales forums, post a want to buy here, RG and RWI. You might get lucky. I really don't know of any other source for the Gold 6263.
