Lots of replica watches on ebay lately...
panerai153 replied to tourbillon360's topic in General Discussion
When you think about it, EBay worldwide probably has probably hundreds of thousands of new listings per day, It's a pretty daunting task to try to cull through to find fakes. Although they probably spend a lot of time on watches, just think how many brands out there that are commonly replicated, practically every watch brand, including all of the parts and accessories like boxes, paperwork, bands, etc. Every major jewelry line, pretty daunting task, and one that probably depends a lot on folks like us who are knowledgeable enough to spot something that's not correct. While I believe that it's EBay's responsibility to police their online offerings, it's also the responsibility of the buyers to do their due diligence before bidding. When a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is! There are so many warning signs that pop up when looking at watches, it's amazing that folks continue to bid on items that are sending up red flags and warning sirens like crazy. Are people just that stupid, or they so greed driven that they really think they are getting such a great deal. I believe that sometimes people feel like they are "stealing" something from and unsuspecting seller, when in fact they are the ones that are being set up for a fleecing. Another thing that I believe has led to a lot more "suspect" items being listed is EBay's buyer protection plan. People believe that they are protected 100% and in some cases you are, but you have to do all the right things to make sure you can substantiate that the item is not as described. If it were me, I would not count on EBay to protect me if I was stupid enough to buy a Rolex Submarined for 1000.00 USD from a seller with a handful of previous sales, or a seller who has 95% Positive feedback, or the seller who has lots of sales, but they are all for items like CD's, beanie babies, essentially stuff that sells for less than 10 USD per item., Suddenly he has a couple of 25K watches for sale, come on, chances are probably 99.99% that they are fake, but folks bid like crazy and some poor fool ends up with a 600 USD watch for 5K, and he thinks he got a real bargain!! My advice to him, is, before you wear the watch, you best take it to and a good watchmaker and let him have a look, open the back and take good quality photos, along with a statement from him that the watch is not genuine, if it is not. Then call EBay and start a dispute ASAP. If it is by some slim chance genuine, then go out and celebrate your good fortune. -
Outside of the case back that was probably opened with a screwdriver or chisel and a hammer to tap on the chisel to open the back, it looks pretty good. It probably needs a service. Were you able to use a regular Rolex case back opener to get the back off this time. If it were sent to a RSC, they would probably put it on a 78360 w/ 280 endlinks, as I doubt that they still have 7836 bracelets. Very nice watch, and with a little TLC, could be really nice. I think what sort of makes this one different, it's not and "in your face" watch. With the black bezel, black dial and rubber strap, and the more matte finish to the gold case, it doesn't stand out so much as say and all polished gold watch with a gold or white dial and gold bracelet. Another thing there are so many big shiny gold and rose gold watches, especially rose gold, around no one even notices this one.

Nah, you should be OK with any of the divers and the 42mm ROO chronos. My wrist size varies from about 7 1/4 to 7 1/2 depending on time of day, summer, winter, etc. I do think that the 44mm models are pushing the limit for me, but the others are fine. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Just got this one a few days ago in a M2M sale. Still had plastic on it, so essentially brand new. Pretty much the same story with a lot of the AP's, and PAM's and any of the bigger watches, "Tried it on and it was just too big" While this one probably won't get the everyday wear of my FC V3, it's a nice watch, and looks great as a little dressier watch, not to say I don't wear it to work, because I do. looks pretty good with scrubs!! I'm not even sure what movement this one has in it, but it's pretty plain Jane outside of a nice gold bas relief decorated rotor. the lume is pretty good, certainly could use a better AR'ed crystal. What's really nice is it's running about 2 sec fast per 24 hours. Can't ask for much better than that. The open caseback puts this one into the really incorrect category, but you know, no one knows if you don't take your watch off !! It came with the standard rubber strap and tang buckle which I will more than likely keep, as it's pretty comfortable. I know that these Gold and Rose are not for everyone, but it's pretty nice. At some point if the Queens Cup is produced, I might move this one on for it, as it's a little more subdued than these all gold models. Photos:

I can assure you, even with all the "teething" problems mine had along the way, I sure as heck don't have anywhere near what you are quoting. 'Course I got a pretty good deal on the Ming Quy case set, and I used an ETA 2846 movement. Freddy is right though, if you decide to use a 1030 movement, be prepared to spend big bucks. Remember too, most of the 1030 movements you see are not the GMT movement. About a year or so back, someone had a 1030 GMT movement, and if memory is correct, he was asking 2500 USD for it. Add a service in and you are looking at close to 3k for the movement alone. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Ofrei pushers are gen spec, so if the guy on another forum said that gen 6263 pushers would work, the Ofrei pushers should as well. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Daz is the man!! That looks very nice. I suppose I have a tendency to miss details, but I never knew that the 6542 had the long hour hand. Wonder what Rolex did when those came back for service? Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

It's really too bad that someone doesn't offer reasonably priced engraving. I have a couple of sterile cases that I would love to get engraved, it would be the icing on the cake for me The one that I would still love to do is the "meatball" Pan Am logo on my 6542 case back. Then it would be complete!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Since this list came out in 13, there have been several very significant additions to the AP lineup. Namely the AP ROO diver versions 5, 5.1 and 6. According to the reviews, the V6 is really nice. Also the Forged Carbon V3 diver. Don't know if the list is open ended and ongoing, or were you going to freeze it with only 2013 reps. Problem is, if new members look at the list, some of these are either discontinued, or much better newer versions are available. My the way, I believe this is a great list, and should be a valuable asset, to all members looking to buy the best top quality reps Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Heed what these fellows say. Sometimes a project that looks pretty straightforward, is like staring into the abyss, OK to look, but don't step over the edge!! On problem that you find when you try to fit non standard parts in a watch, is the one problem becomes multiple problems. You fix one thing, but that fix creates several other problems. Before you know it you are compromising everything just to prove a point. My advice, if you have a watch that uses a 2824 movement, spend 99 USD for a nice brand new factory sealed Seagull ST 2130. It is pretty much and exact fit. It is a 2824 and Sellita 200 clone. Very good quality, well made and can be adjusted to COSC accuracy. And no, I don't sell them, but I have read the reviews on genuine watch forums. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Looks great. The gen dial, bezel/insert and crystal make this a tremendous watch. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

You can find the ST2130 on EBay. Seller is from Portugal. Price is 99.00 USD shipped. These are factory new sealed movements. I tried to find one here in the USA, but nothing comes up in a Google search. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Might want to post this over on the AP forum, lots of good info there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Second that, I had a Chronoswiss Tora about a 5k watch back 8 years ago, had to send it back to Chronoswiss twice for problems. Average time was over 3 months.so it's not just reps that break. Go to any of the gen forums and read some if the horror stories.there are cases where people actually wore their watches out of an AD and had then stop before they got it home!! ZF QC - have you had a problem with your ZF watch?
panerai153 replied to fraggle42's topic in General Discussion
Doesn't the "ZF factory make the AP FC v3 forged Carbon diver? All these different "makers" are confusing to my old brain!! I believe the QC problems are compounded with some of these wildly popular models. Dealers are clamoring for watches, so the factories are just throwing stuff together to get watches out the door. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
I really believe that sending one back to China is a real crap shoot, you may win, but you darn sure may lose. like someone else said, it's no guarantee that should your watch make it through Chinese customs, airport freight handlers, etc. the dealer gets the watch it gets thrown In a pile of others, and weeks later, someone else comes by checks on the watches, and thinks they are fixed, they get boxed up and sent back. Hope yours gets through and arrives back fixed, but why subject yourself to all the worry, expense and drama? find a rep friendly watch maker, send or take it to him, get it serviced, and you are good to go for a long time.

Ap Forged Carbon Diver: Story of a mistake
panerai153 replied to barore's topic in The Audemars Piguet Area
It's very nice looking, very nice carbon pattern. If you aren't happy with it, you probably aren't going to wear it much. Were me, and I realized it may have been a mistake, I would sell it. Sell it while it is still essentially new and not scratched up. After you sell it, then I would go to toro, or InTime and order the J12 factory S/S v6 diver. It's the best out there right now, and you should be happy with it. Unless you plan to keep this watch, I would not punch a hole in the rubber strap. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -
AH!! Now that's news to me. I haven't been keeping up with it's progress, obviously. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Not sure how many are out there, I know there was a big buzz about it when it was announced, but when folks found out it was around 800 USD, I believe the interest level went down considerably. I really like the watch, in fact I posted a year or so back that I wished they would rep the "regular" model, as all that were out was the various Chrono versions. Unfortunately, I pretty much lost interest at the 800 USD price. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
