  1. Honestly, I would never order anything like this if you have a hard deadline. I can order something here in the USA from Amazon.com and have it in two days, every time, barring some weather event like a hurricane or huge winter storm. Ordering from another country is never predictable, unless you are using couriers like FEDEX or UPS. If they say overnight, it's almost a sure bet that it will be overnight. Postal services and customs are totally unpredictable. A package here may clear customs in a few hours, or it may take several days, and sometimes it sits for a month. Another thing, these dealers don't always have the watch you ordered in stock. Problem is they seldom tell you that unless you ask. They have supply problems as well, often they are promised watches and they aren't available as promised. I hope that you get your watch on time, but I would have a contingency plan in place should it not arrive before your vacation is finished. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  2. Upgrade to VIP and list in the parts sales forum. Probably sell it pretty fast. Why don't you get a new movement? They come up for sale in the rep forums occasionally. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  3. Which buckle are you talking about. From what I read, the older buckles were the ones that had the codes, later on they quit engraving codes on buckles. My strap and buckle didn't come together, I got the strap from a seller on Paneresti, like I said above the buckle came on an 063 I bought a few weeks back. The seller claimed the buckle and strap came off his genuine 063 that he sold previously. Who knows, it's pretty hard to see what you are getting with some of the photos. He may have gotten the buckles mixed up, maybe he sold me a rep as an OEM, I was much more interested in the watch, as it is one of the old Skool. 063's with nice mods, and a 2893-2 movement. My main reason for posting this thread was to see if anyone had some insight on what the buckle codes were about, and maybe some background on them, but as I discovered as you did, not much info anywhere on the net about this subject. 4. I bought a SeaGull clone, it is the most accurate movement in any of my watches, rep or gen. Price is around 100 bucks!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  5. Simon, the only secure way is a safe that is bolted to the floor( big lag bolts into the floor supports) one big enough or keep your watches, your wife's jewelry and important papers. Other than that, a secret room that doesn't look like a room, with a steel door, frame and a couple of stout dead bolt locks. Nothing will defeat a professional thief, fortunately in most cases unless they are sure you have a fortune in jewelry, watches, etc, most break ins are by amateurs that grab and run. They are just looking for something to convert to drugs. A good alarm system is not a bad idea either. Alarms are sometimes a PITA, because you have to remember to arm it when you leave and disarm it as soon as you get inside. Very sorry about your watch, it always seems like the bastards take the things that mean the most! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  6. Did you buy the Helberg that was for sale on WUS? I looked at that one really hard, but decided on the Heroic 18. I'm going to give it a try, but 47mm is pretty darn big. If it looks like an alarm clock on my wrist, it will probably end up on the sales forums. We'll see. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  7. I suppose I'm succumbing to the Bronze Age !! Decided last week that I needed one! I looked at a lot of options, including the PAM 382, but couldn't find one M2M on any forum, plus I was a little worried about some of the issues folks had with new ones arriving with problems that required immediate attention, like screws loose in the movement. I also was looking for something that I could wear every day as a work watch, and still take to the beach, snorkeling and the occasional dive. Not taking away from the 382, but I'm just not sure it's water resistant enough to spend 60 minutes at 60 feet depth. I'm sure that a lot of folks who own one will either mod one themselves or send it off to get everything sorted out for water resistance. Another problem with all repaired watches, the folks that do the water resistance testing rarely are able to test for depths greater than 5-10 atmos. I wanted something that was good right out the box, AND had a warranty so that should anything happen, I could send it back for repair. SO, after spending several hours on most of the genuine dive watch forums as well as the sales corners and EBay, I decided on the Heroic 18. Heroic 18has been a strap maker for several years, and from there, decided to become what has been described as a "micro-maker" They introduced their Bronze model in 4 dial configurations, green with numbers, green with round plots, black with numbers and black with round plots. The watch is 47mm which is pretty big, domed sapphire crystal, Myiota movement and drilled lugs. Another thing I really like, the bezel looks very similar to the Panerai Submersibles bezel, with raised markers at each quadrant. All this for less than 800 USD. Here are a few photos. Not mine, mine will be in by Thursday, I hope!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  8. Nice looking watch. My only experience with PVD was a genuine Chronosport UDT that I bought back in the early 1980's. I wore that watch for probably 15 years, no telling how many Scuba trips, working in the yard, on the farm, and it held up really well. I did wear out the original bracelet, but that watch went through Hell and back. If yours is half as tough as that one, you will get years of use from it. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Glad you found it. I thought I was the only one that "hid" things from myself!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Since there doesn't seem to be a section for repair reviews (Am I missing something?)I wanted to add my accolades for our valued member misiekped. I sent him one of my reps that was not at all stable, along with a new movement, as the one in the watch was and A something!! probably one of those clone of a clone movements. I bought a new Seagull movement off Ebay from a seller in Portugal, sent it all to misiekped, and he did the movement swap and regulated the new movement. I wore it for four days last week, put it in the watch box yesterday, wore a different watch to work, got home put the other one back on, and checked it with the atomic clock app on my phone. After almost 5 full days, the watch was 1 second slow!! not that he could do that with every movement, because some of our movements just cannot be adjusted to that rate, no matter how much you try. However I truly believe that misiekped will do everything in his power to make sure that you get your watch back in as good a condition as humanly possible.
  11. nanug, as they say in the South, "you got it goin' on" !! Beautiful watch and great photo. Back to the FC Diver today.
  12. Just got this in yesterday!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. It may well be reflections, or I have a shape changer inside my crystal!!! At times, I suppose depending on the light, it disappears completely. Probably the only fix for this would be a new crystal/ cyclops At some point, I will send it off to get a problem with the GMT hand not setting properly, but it's not urgent, the watch runs fine, I got the GMT hand to where I wanted it with a little finagling, so all is well for now. 14. It looks like the alignment is a tiny bit off at the 50 marker, also the Lume on the 50 is sloppy. Problem is, every one of them is going to have some issues, if you ask for another one, it may well be worse than this one. I believe that turning the inner bezel so that it lines up with the top marker @12 will help some. AFA the strap connection, it may be the way it's being held for the photos. Looks like one of the lugs may be drilled out either too big, or the hole is not exactly in the right position.may look a lot better on the wrist with no tension on the strap. 15. If you haven't gotten anything yet, there is a very nice Blue dial Superocean Steelfish on the M2M sales forum. Has a Swiss ETAmovement, has been serviced and relumed. Comes with bracelet and a nice aftermarket strap and deployant buckle. This one is all sorted out and has the advantage of a Swiss ETA movement. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

  18. This watch doesn't have any complications, so one of the ETA's or clones would be the best bet for this watch. JMB has built a ton of the Explorers, so he would be a good source of info if you are wanting to build one. Also there are a lot of Explorer threads here as well. This is a simple watch, so you don't need a complicated problem prone movement for this one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  19. I love the watch, not a big fan of white straps, course, you young guys can pull these off!! Biggest problem is here, it's really, really hot and humid in the summer, so just walking around outside, you sweat like a pig. Light straps, outside of NATO's that you can take off and throw in the washing machine, get sweat stained and discolored. Pretty darn striking combo though. Did Vac do the movement mod with the extra jewel? Definitely nice for the 4th of July!!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I totally agree with watchmeister. Before I shell out serious bucks for a "Franken" build, I want a complete detailed build sheet. From that, I can decide if it is really a Franken or not. I don't find the term as abused on this forum as it is on some of the others. I cringe when I see a watch listed as a "Franken", and the only gen part is a crystal or crown. That my friends does not a Franken make!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
