Hi Mr A I will certainly defer to you when it comes to the A7750 movement. I have three AP ROO's with the sec@12. I bought all of mine M2M, two are fine, the third is the one that has been the source of all the problems. Mine are probably post 2012, outside of the Rose Gold RC which is the older dial design. Not sure when the rep manufacturers discontinued those and came out with the new model.both it and my Safari run fine. AFA the jewel mod, I agree with you, it's certainly better than nothing, and more than likely improves the reliability of the movement. The single jewel mod that some are doing is probably not as good as the 3 jewel mod, but I certainly don't have enough knowledge of or experience with this movement to say. I believe that Vac is doing a jewel mod, not sure how many. I believe Domi does a 3 jewel mod. This is what I've read on the forums, but I'm not sure. You are correct, the only way to really solve this problem is for the rep makers to clone a movement that is designed as a sec@12 movement, or at least a module that can be attached to an Asian movement. This is not just an AP problem, the folks over on the Rolex forum have the same complaints about the sec@6 modified movements that power the Rolex Daytonas with the sec@6. Listen to these guys!! This is a really bad idea. Sell the Tudor add a couple of grand and get a gen 1680. Problem is these are not good conversions, for a lot of reasons, mainly dial/ DW problems, incorrect Caseback, wrong engraving on case. There was a guy here several months ago that converted a gen 79090 to a 9411/0. He was trying to sell the watch for almost what an intact 79090 sells for. I suggested he convert it back to original. Problem was he had either sold or misplaced the gen dial/hands. He had the watch up for sale for months, never had any takers. So if your friend persists, make darn sure he keeps all the parts he takes off, so that should he change his mind later, he can put it back to original. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

As someone said, it's too bad that he is like he is, because he does have some things that just aren't available anywhere else.problem is, I do believe that he is a con artist at heart. He gets you hooked with a good clean transaction, and then the next time, he takes the money and runs. A couple of years ago, I bought a 6238 case set and dial from him, easy transaction, shipped it promptly and everything arrived just as you would expect. A few weeks later, I contacted him about a Gold 6263. In the interim between the first case set and this inquiry, a few members posted here about problems with him. We exchanged a couple of emails, and I was about to pull the trigger when he emailed me that his PayPal account had been frozen, and I would have to send the funds Western Union. When I got that email, the red flags popped up and I emailed him that I wasn't comfortable using WU. He told me that this was the only way he could do the deal. I emailed him back, that I wasn't interested, but if he got his PayPal sorted out, I would take the watch. Never heard back from him. I would NOT do any business with him except thru PayPal, no WU, no Moneygram, nothing that wouldn't allow some recourse if the deal goes South. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Definitely agree with Tom, Paneresti.com, WatchUseek, or Timezone are all far better than EBay. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Great news!!! Mike is a terrific guy, and is a real asset to the forum. I will never forget the things he did to help resolve the MD2020 fiasco. It didn't work out for us, but it certainly wasn't for lack of effort on Mike's part. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

This is in no way taking up for bangalter, he should respond to your requests. I have not had any direct deals with him, but from the correspondence with him, he seems like a solid stand up guy. The way I know him is through the fiasco with MD2020. He lost a ton of watches and parts in that deal, much more than anyone else. I feel sure he will come through. You must remember, it's summer and folks go on holiday for a couple of weeks and often they are off the grid for a few days. I would definitely hold up on a Paypal dispute, only as a last resort.

Very strange !! Only the first 6 of 18 posts are still up in the MH17 thread.

Agree about the fountain pens. To me, and I have collected pens for many years, primarily vintage pens, the nib is the heart of the pen. No matter what the pen looks like, if it doesn't have a nice nib, it's a non starter to me. One of the reasons I like vintage pens, is because the old nib makers were masters at making flexible nibs. If you love fountain pens, writing with a flexy nib is pen heaven. Most of the modern pen manufacturers can't get nibs right, so I'm sure rep makers can't!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Have you ever considered a Canvas or Canvas leather. These are super comfortable Here is a Drew canvas and my MKII Stingray. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Go over to the Rolex forum or the Vintage Rolex marketplace and see what's available. Both of these are pretty closely monitored, so less likely to get fake stuff. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Did you get it serviced by Rolex? If you did, it should come back in a service box with the paperwork. That's as authentic as it gets!)) Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

You are absolutely correct though. The mark of success in the oil patch was a Gold DD and a pair of Alligator boots!! Back in the "gook old days" we had a Rolex dealer here in our little town. The lady that owned the business told me that she sold more Gold DD's than all other Rolex watches combined. Of course back then, you could get a brand new DD with the Gold "president" bracelet for around 4 K. Now I think the bracelet alone is more than that. Matt built a Gold DD for me with a genuine dial, crown, crystal and bezel, great watch. The only problem is his cases are sterile, no engraving, so it has that "tell" if you wear it on a strap, otherwise it's perfect. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Just pulled the trigger on a VAC 44 FC APROO

If you go to the repair and modification forum, VAC has a page there. You should be able to get in touch with him from there. He is usually very good about returning inquiries. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

Whomever you take it in to service will be able to tell!! This sounds like one of those modified movements that are supposed to superficially like a Rolex movement, but only to those who have never seen a rolex movement. There is no interchangeability between ETA and Rolex movement parts. I'm beginning to lean towards what a member said a few weeks back, buy the watch with the cheapest movement available and when the movement craps out, replace it with an ETA or a good ETA clone like a Seagull.. Contrary to what these guys are telling you (Dealers) you ain't getting 100% pure as driven snow new ETA movements. There were a couple of really good threads on RWG.bz about some of the shenanigans that are going on with movements. Here are a couple of links http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=79561&hl=&fromsearch=1 http://www.rwg.bz/board/index.php?showtopic=79847&st=0&p=1306467&hl=+eta%20+clone%20+swiss&fromsearch=1&#entry1306467

I doubt that your "ETA" is a real 100% ETA and if it is, more than likely it is and old movement taken out of another watch. I would not worry too much about winding and setting the ETA 2824/2836 movements, they are pretty bombproof, unlike the 7750 movements. I would factor in a service if the watch was going to be a keeper.

Next project, a Franken Yuki 3135. Am i mad?
panerai153 replied to netniet's topic in The Rolex Area
I have to agree with most of the folks who posted above. It is probably a project that you end up spending a lot of money and time trying to make work, and if it is doable, what do you have? And expensive "mystery" movement as Freddy says. You say that this is a watch that you will never sell. That's fine now, but how many watches do you see on the sales forums that were the sellers "grail" watch? I can tell you, lots and lots. Many of them started out as lifetime keepers, but over time, tastes change, economic circumstances change and over time, other watches come along that are "must have". Unless you have plenty of money, and can afford to keep every watch you buy or build, you have to sell one to buy another one. I know this from experience, I have watches in my watch boxes that have not been on my wrist for a year or more. Others that I wear a time or two and then they go back into the box for months. Right now, I can afford to keep them, but at some point in time, I may need to sell, or just decide that I need to get rid of the ones that never get worn. If and when that time comes, it's nice to know that in most cases, I can sell them for close to or more than I have in them. If you stay within a reasonable range, costwise, you can recoup your costs, but if you don't you will have to take a real beating on the sale price to get a sale. There are hundreds of thousands if not millions of contemporary Rolex watches out there, that's why if you look hard and shop wisely, you can still pick up a good genuine 16610 for 3500-4500 USD. A franken 16610, no matter how many genuine parts, is still a franken and it will never sell for anything close to what a genuine brings. That's the reason that with watches like the newer Rolex watches, you have to be very careful with build costs, and spending a lot on a genuine movement or even one like you are building runs the build cost way up and it's money you will not get back. Most folks are a lot more interested in a genuine dial, insert, crystal, crown, etc.than the movement. That's just my 2 cents!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk -

That looks like a great place to sit, relax and let all your stress just flow out your body. Beautiful!!

Agree with gran, that's just too much white. A strap of a different color would help, but not sure what color. Maybe a Honey gator or honey Hornback sort if complimentary to the gold on the dial and hands. Way too "young" for me. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

From the sounds of all the folks that are getting QC photos the same or next day, and shipping immediately after QC approval, I would bet yours is out of stock. I would email him and tell him your problem, as well as asking is the watch in stock and ready for shipment. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Have to say that is very, very nice! I'm not a ring person, outside of my wedding band, nothing else, but this looks great. Your perseverance was rewarded. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
