In the video, the rotor is spinning freely, so no pressure there. Possibly the edge of the case is pressing down on something. Check the movement ring and make sure the movement is down and tight, one thing I Would try,put the Caseback back on, tighten it down, the movement stops. Try loosening each screw one turn, and watch the movement. You may find that it's binding in one place, and when you let off the pressure there, the movement will start. If loosening them a bit allows the movement to start, then probably a thicker gasket will do the trick. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

Hi PAM experts, I'm looking for a source for a 063 crystal/Cyclops. Something is weird with mine, it's up getting the GMT hand setting issue addressed, and the Cyclops isn't right, don't really know what the problem is, but it's obscuring the numbers and isn't clear. Any help with sourcing a crystal would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Wore my AP V5 diver to work today, didn't pay much attention to the time, as we have clocks everywhere in the OR. When I got home, I noticed that it was about 10-12 minutes fast! I set it by the atomic clock last evening, so in around 20 hours it gained that much. I just got this one back from Vac and it seemed to be OK for the first few days. Never had a watch become magnetized, but was wondering if this was possible?

From my meager experience , I find the divers to be much more comfortable over the chronos. Some of that could be related to the deployant buckle on the chronos, which I find uncomfortable. I would like to try a buckle on one of mine, just to see if that made a difference.

It's been a fun ride for me. I've been buying, selling and trading watches since way back before most of you were born, late 60's. couldn't afford but one at a time, so I started with a no date Airking, then a DJ, then a 1680. By that time I had a pretty good job, school was done, and I started buying here and there, did some "horse trading" for a couple of Day/dates a S/S Daytona (boy do I wish I had that one back!!) got into reps, of a roundabout, one of my friends wanted a Rolex, but couldn't afford a genuine. Back then, if you lived outside of the big cities, your only source was ads in the back of magazines. I found one, ordered the watch, got it and it was a pretty crappy rep, but he loved it! Didn't buy another one for around 10 years, by then the internet was in it's infancy,of course the scam sites were right behind the grand opening of the internet. I came across the old TRC, joined and pretty soon, I was into reps in a big way. Still am! Right now I have around 40 watches, about evenly balanced between reps and gens. Almost every rep watch I own has been modded.To me that's the fun of the whole deal. I love the hunt, finding parts, getting everything together and then enjoying the finished product.i will say reps have come a looooong way from the first rep Rolex I bought way back years ago. The biggest positive with those older reps, was the movement. If you ordered an ETA movement, you got an ETA movement. It may have been dirty and dry, but you got what you paid for. Wonder if the 1979 chronometer certificate has the same numbers as the case? Sadly, someone will buy this, take it to a RSC and they will throw it back at the buyer!! At that point he knows he's been screwed!!

What movement is this? like Steel said, that's pretty rough handling. But having said that, if it won't run with a little winding, swirling it to make the rotor turn, then it probably has something wrong that isn't going to be fixed unless it gets a service. May be cheaper in the long run to have it serviced or replace the movement if it's bad. A good movement, well serviced will last long time, keep accurate time and be dependable. I pretty much factor in a service for every watch that I buy with the intention of keeping. I can feel your frustration. I have had two in the past few months arrive DOA, and these were from M2M sales and the watches were running when they were shipped. I'm not sure that some of the postal workers use these packages to play football or baseball in the sorting center!! Most good movement can take a lot of abuse, but they aren't indestructible.

Many moons ago, I sent my genuine Ocean7 LM-5 GMT to MD2020, only wanted to get the hands changed to Mercedes hands, he fiddled around for a couple of months, but finally sent the watch back with the new hands. Well, first off the Lume was terrible, didn't match any of the rest of the Lume.I was not happy with the job at all, and never wore the watch. A few weeks ago, asked misiekped if he could fix the hands, and he said he would try. Well, long story short, he told me that first, the hands MD2020 used were glued on, and the Lume was terrible. He found a set of hands, got everything sorted out and shipped it back to me. Suffice to say the work is great. It is really nice to work with a watchmaker who knows what he is doing, not telling you how good he is. Great guy and a true craftsman. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk

I agree 100%. I believe one thing that is lacking in our society today is common courtesy. All of the things you alluded to in your post are things that should be innate to everyone, but unfortunately are not. Looks very nice. The Miyota 9015 is a good solid movement, and one that a lot of the smaller " boutique" watchmakers are going to since Swatch group has choked off the sale of ETA movements outside the group. I have a genuine IWC Calatrava, it's 14k gold, and a wonderful dress watch, but that's all I ever use it for. Get's taken out the watch box maybe 3-4 times per year. Really difficult to tell anything about this one, it looks OK, but for some reason, IWC dials have been faked a lot. Pretty plain, and easy to duplicate. Do you have movement photos. I wouldn't buy one of these unless I could see the movement and make sure it was and IWC signed movement. This one is in S/S it looks like, so maybe 400-600 USD tops. 100% agree you can use all gen parts., movement (no one ever sees this part!!) insert,pearl, crown/tube, bracelet, but if you start with a crappy dial ...... sort of like putting lipstick on a pig !!! The dial is the first thing people notice, especially anyone that 's the least bit knowledgeable about watches. Check in with cc33, he's the big crown expert. He also knows where all the good dials are hiding!!

I believe the reason you haven't been able to find out any info is that most of the franken builds are posted in their respective watch forums. I have read and seen photos of many, many franken watches, but they are always posted in their respective forums. Just to add to the list, here is one of mine Rolex 1665 DRSD Old MBW case, bezel, caseback Dial (Mystery dial) supposedly came from the same place Freddy got his DRSR dial from, but not sure. Insert/Pearl - genuine Hands - genuine Movement - Genuine 1575 w/ genuine silver DW Crown/tube - genuine Bracelet -genuine Endlinks - 585 - genuine Crystal - genuine T-39 (cracked it and Matt replaced it with something else, probably Clark's)

After many months of waiting, I finally got my S/S V5 back from Vac. this is the first time in many months that all three have been home at one time. It's been nasty and rainy outside, so I figured this was a good time to take some group photos. My group consists of: S/S V5 Rose Gold FC V3 I really like the AP divers, like the AP ROO Chronographs as well, but I find the divers more comfortable to wear. To my old eyes, they are very gen like and I believe with a little modding, they would fool anyone but a real died in the wool AP expert. I had the opportunity last week to visit a watch seller in Montreal that sells primarily pre owned watches. They had several AP's on display and I was able to get a really good close up look at them. None of them were divers. One thing that I see that is a pretty glaring defect with our reps, is the crystal and Cyclops AR. The genuine watches that I looked at, and they were out in the open, not behind glass, as I asked to look at them, literally from every angle looked as though there was no crystal or Cyclops on the watch. Absolutely no reflections or distortion. Now it could have been the lighting, which was diffuse fluorescent, but the "lack of glass' effect was pretty astounding. I looked at my FC that same day and while the AR on the crystal is pretty good, the Cyclops is a letdown. Other than that though I believe that our AP reps are pretty impressive. I pretty much feel the same way, I don't have much experience with android phones, but my wife has a Samsung Galaxy Tab tablet. I bought her and IPad, but she has a couple of sites she watches that are still using Adobe Player. Since Apple refuses to allow you to use Adobe products on their phones/tablets, she was stuck. I find the Samsung to be much less intuitive, and difficult to use than my IPad. like cc33, I don't like the lack of freedom that Apple imposes on it's users, but it's nice to know that you are relatively much safer from viruses, malware, etc. I'm not a big Apple fanboy, I like their products, but I'm certainly not locked into their products, especially just because they are Apple.

I'm going to get the 16GB 6. the 6+ is just too big. I carry my phone in an Otterbox case on my waist, and the 6+ is just too big to comfortably carry it like that. I've been pretty happy with Apple phones, If you carry your phone in a purse or bag, I suppose the 6+ wouldn't be much different than a 6. I have 5 now and it's been long out of contract.

With the scarcity of genuine ETA movements. It's very doubtful that you will get a good ETA movement. Most are either old dirty movements, movements that have been made with a combination of parts, ETA and Chinese. As Ssteel said get the Asian clone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So you buy the dial for 800 € then get it repaired for another 600€? Total 1400€ or over 1800 USD and you still have a repaired/refinished dial. I think you can do better than that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
