  1. Talk to JMB, he is the resident vintage Explorer guru. He puts together case sets, bezels, etc. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  2. I have the "100 years of Rolex" app and looking at the reference 6298, it only shows it as S/S with two dial options regular and Explorer. Possibly someone had this case plated sometimes back in the past? I believe this reference is from the 50's, so it's probably around 60 years old. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  3. From the condition of the finish around the lugs, thus was definitely played or capped, but from the deterioration, looks like plating. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Why, why,why !!!!! Will they never learn? 50 seconds on the forum, didn't read a thing, and asks the same stupid question that has been asked a million times? Here is my answer, upgrade to VIP, post a few relevant posts, read and research and you will answer the question yourself. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Still at the beach Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. Cats, my friend, sorry to hear your news. Was hoping that your scans would be normal. Please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  7. I have a Safari, although not a 2014. I was hoping that they would have the White Themes, as I like the Lume dials.
  8. Beautiful watch, and a super review my friend. I have one question, does the JFfactory make a white or silver dial version of this watch, I would definitely be in the market for one if they did. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  9. Because the lawyers have convinced these companies that this is the way to kill the rep business. The idiots at these companies believe their sales pitch, shell out millions to the lawyers, and all they accomplish is shutting down a few websites. Of course, they tell the companies, look at us,we shut down 500 rep websites last year!! What they don't tell is 600 more came on line to take their place. Shutting down rep sites is like playing "Whack a Mole". Hammer one and another pops up! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. I have an X Pro-1 and I love it. After carrying around a bag full of DSLR stuff for years, my back and shoulders said it was time to change !! Those are great photos. Of course the subject ain't half bad either!!! You will love the OVF, I probably use it at least 95% of the time. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  11. I am a big fan of GMT watches, but while overall thus one is nice, I don't care for the hands. The hour and GMT hands are too similar in size and shape, even if they are a different color. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  12. There was a big controversy over in the Vintage Rolex Forum a while back about this sane problem. There was a seller there who consistently had a big supply of "mint" vintage watches. Like he had found the keys to a huge vault full of NOS Rolex watches from the 60's and 70's. Just too many all in one place. Some folks got suspicious and accused the seller of refinishing the cases, laser welding to build up lugs, etc.and then refinishing to look like new. Not sure how this came out, but there were a lot of folks who were very upset, especially some folks who bought these watches and paid top prices for them. One buyer was going to get his case X-rayed to see if he could detect any weld seams. Renewing for your own use and full disclosure if you sell is OK, selling a refurbished case as a pristine unpolished case is downright fraud. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  13. Well, it did it again last evening. Didn't wear it for a day, wound it, set it and put it on, about and hour later, checking with my IPhone, it was about a minute+ fast. Looks like when I get home from vacation, it's going back to Vac for some adjustment. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  14. Cats hope the scan results are good At the beach this week, so here's my "beach" watch Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  15. Late in the day, but here we are. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Another alternative would be a ST case. It will definitely take all gen parts. They are not too expensive. Very, very nice collection by the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. If you are building a super Franken these would be great cases, however if you are building a gen, keep in mind that if you decide to sell, you will get dinged for that refinished case. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Markie Remember, "he who hesitates us lost"!!! Buy the one you like now and enjoy it. You know how these reps work, they will fix one problem, and backslide on something else. There is never going to be a "perfect" rep, we all know that and learn to live with the faults Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Obviously it has been brought up before, but on other forums. What will drive you crazy is inconsistency!! If your watch runs 25-60 seconds fast or slow all the time, it can be regulated, but when it gains 5 minutes in 24 hours, and the next day runs spot on, how do you regulate that? I'm on vacation now, and it brought the AP V5 with me, so far it's doing fine, but who knows what tomorrow will bring!! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  20. I don't have and issue with Vac, he does quality work, and he stands behind what he does. I have had stability problems with slow beat movements before. What is really interesting is the gen owners seem to be having the same problems!! The AP forum on The Rolex Forums has a similar thread, owners are complaining that their Divers with the AP movement are running fast, for no apparent reason. Right now mine is running OK, we will see. If it acts up again, I'll contact Vac and send it back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  21. Thanks ceejay, unfortunately, I don't have the skills or tools to do any repairs. What is crazy, last night I wound it a few times, re set it and also set my FC V3 both to the atomic clock, I put both of them on my desk crown up. This morning, they were about 5 seconds apart!! I don't know what happened, but I know yesterday it was running really fast, today it's fine. I'll wear it some today and see if wearing has any affect, but right now it looks like it's OK. Is it possible that the hairspring may have come unstuck? At any rate, it just got back from Vac, and this is the slow beat movement that he installed, so if it isn't correct, he will take it back and get it sorted out.
  22. Thanks, Wholesaleoutlet has crystals with cyclops that he claims will fit all 44mm PAMs, his price is 150.00 USD which seems steep for a generic crystal, maybe I'm out of touch with reality though!! I'll try DSN. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  23. Very nice!!!! Can't wait to see it with that diamond bezel!!! LOL Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
