Not much in the difference of Brass and Bronze ... both are alloys of copper... Brass being an alloy of Copper and Zinc and Bronze Being Copper and Tin primarily but does include others like in the case of CuSn8 has phosphorus added into the mix as well .. but all relatively cheap alloys to make and much easier to machine than 316 or 304. So hopefully they get this right and use the correct bronze : ) after all the guitar sting manufactures use it in cheap guitar stings lol.

but 800 to 1200 will give me a semi polished look. the levers on these are micro-bead blasted for a satin finish.. but if your sure about it ill give it a shot : P just with sand paper you will always have directional lines or spiderwebbing in satin bushed finish. I used to use that method to hold lubricant on induction chrome rod in large hydraulic cylinders I cant see it giving the effect of the blasted satin finish.

Im in the process of putting my 002 back together with a dial from Rolf. The trouble i'm having is that the previous owner of my Gen case and CG polished the bead finish on the outside of my leaver but leaving the inside untouched thank god. So my question is ... what sort of media or grit have others used for that fine bead finish of these leavers ? thanks ! C

Im trying to stay away from women's watches, she wants something mid case mens or unisex but not too flashy. I have bought her an Omega Constellation a few years ago and she has a few tags and other women's watches and she just dont wear them.. she wants something along the lines of an explorer 1 in style but not Rolex but sticking with the full stainless look .. its not a surprise gift for her as i have learned it is not wise to surprise my parents lol ( worst people to shop for !! If they like something chances are they impulse buy , I always wondered where i got that from ) Nanuq I absolutely love that sub you have ... every time i see it i want it !!

Hey fellas I am looking for some help picking out a watch for my mother. I have been searching for a few months now for ideas and so far she is only interested in the AP royal oak non chrono and the Explorer 1 ... my old man was making fun of her for wanting a rolie because he states its an old mans watch lol Anyways i was about to pull the trigger on an AP but she then decided she does not like the screws in the bezel... So i'm once again at a loss as to what i can show her ... Its has to be in the 38-41mm range and stainless or clean looking if another material, must be non chrono with a simple but functional dial styled like the above mentioned so not dressy but not too casual either. Price range up to 10K and cant be girly lol so no diamonds etc .. So please send some ideas : ) Cheers ! C.

lol you all think you get lots of the old white stuff : P ... landed in Corner Brook , Newfoundland today ( the town i was born and spent the first 13 years of my life ) .. So far this winter season 6 feet+ of snow has fallen and just today alone from when i flew in 6pm until now 22inches has fallen lol It bothers me that i left 88deg F on the weekend to come here to this snow and -19C lol but.. its starting to feel like christmas finally.

ooo nice ! I have a chronopassion and i cant wear it because it bothers me that the crown height is not right.. but this watch fixes my issue with the chrono's crown.. ill have to get me one of these! beauties. anyone looking for a chronopassion ? lol

Very smart looking A5, I honestly thought what that sline badge (looks like the v8 badge from distance) and wheels it was an S5. The 3.2 is a great engine but i have not driven the 2.0t, but from past audi turbo 2.0's i can see how it would feel a bit out of wind in the weight of the A5. sorry fellas i know its a dream car post ... just get excited when i see posts those 4 wheeled mistresses we all love so dearly ( or most do : P )

lots of great info fellas and I really appreciate the abundance of responses ! after reading and looking at comex subs for almost 2 days now, I think i have my mind set on the gen feet first 5513 dial. Its just the only way i think ill be pleased and justify how much ive spent on the project so far. Now to find a dial that i like. Something thats going to fit how i want the watch to look lol I am far too picky for this hobby..

Hmm nice watches but the case back is like the one oglado posted second and freddys first pic.. thank you for the info on the non logo watches still having that style caseback. To make it a little more clear as to what im starting with its the HH prototype case comex sub that was up for sale a few days ago by a fellow canuck ( thanks ! ) . So feel free to toss suggestions So far I have bought a nice T vintage insert ( nice faded bluish color ) , 1520 refreshed movement, gen 9315 bracelet and 2mm gen spring bars . the watch already has Gen crown tube and crystal. so now im down to the dial and hands .. as well as to decide if im going to age the case a little ( very subtle ). thanks for all of the info so far fellas.. its led me to a lot of interesting reading into the older subs.

Gathered that but im going to have to go with a rep comex dial because the case back is comex and too nice not to do correctly.. and there will be no selling cars for watches they get my love first..

lol no no not the comex gen dial lol ... im not slapped : P if i was going to spend serious coin to build then id just buy a gen ( not spending $70k on a comex sub ) there is one for sale on chrono24 now for just shy of 80k , i wouldnt be messing with reps if i could toss that around for a watch.
