Got this yesterday. Last night, I installed Lello's Datewheel.

Yeah, I know I'm late to the party. But here are some nice detailed pics that hopefully will tickle you pink As you might've guessed, I installed Lello's excellent Date Wheel. This mod is an absolute must. You can clearly see the huge difference Lello's date wheel makes. The end result is that this rep is, uhhhh, perfect. Well, well, enough of me showing off my peacock plumes... On to the pics!

You are correct Dachshund, but sometimes there are datewheels with big overlays. From my experience, it is nice & easy to remove the plate so that the new datewheel overlay does not come unglued with pressure. They tend to pop off easily - realignment is a veritable pain in the butt!

Since many folks have been asking me how to do this... I am posting this pic for you. This is an easy job, but only if you have the proper tools (note: proper tools!) and the experience. Practice on cheapo reps first. Removing and reinstalling the hands is not for the faint of heart. Practice practice practice! If you have these skills, then proceed. Otherwise, take it a watchmaker! FYI: the job takes 10 minutes. *** Please note that my instructions include the added step of removing the plate for easier access at times when you are dealing with a datewheel that has a large overlay. It's easier to remove the plate and take the datewheel off when this is the case. You can, however, remove the datewheel by depressing the detent spring, pushing the datewheel "in" slightly and remove it.

I received this lovely watch from Mezzanine today. Wow. I also bought one of Lello's Date Wheels before I even had an Ingenieur coming my way. So this afternoon, I replaced the date wheels - what a difference. The correct date font makes the only obvious flaw vanish into thin air. Now I see what you have done with your cash prize from taking 1st place in the Mr. Alaska contest! What a gorgeous beast!! I am so very glad that your patience has paid off. As mentioned before, this piece is the Holy Grail of vintage Rolex sports models. It is far beyond amazing, from a serious collector's standpoint as well from a casual collector's perspective. Wadan, I dream of owning a vintage Portugese like the one in that pic. It's too bad that the rep dial markers do not come off without destroying the dial finish. I guess that's what happens when you make a dial out of plastic I think that what I might try to do is have a dial made to the same dimensions as the rep dial. This could seriously turn into an interesting long-term project. Cheers gentlemen!

The "Rayrus" is a good watch (at least I have heard this). Ray makes some interesting items. I like the Ruhla and some of the inexpensive divers he has available. They make for nice beaters. His lume is of poor quality though. I think that the mineral crystal was used because making an acrylic dome like the Type 1+2 was very difficult. I am not a fan of mineral, especially if it's on a so-called vintage military piece. However, perhaps it could be modded

'Tis true about needing patience with HKTan's custom stuff. I ordered a Big Pilot 21x18 strap in March. Still no strap. Was supposed to take 1 month including delivery. He's been telling me he shipped it, then he made a mistake, etc... I'm going to email him right now. This is the first time I've had troubles with him. Cheers

I use a can of compressed air. I buy them in a 4-pack at Costco for less than $10. I go through 'em like crazy between all the camera equipment I own and watches I work on. Go to a camera shop and the same can of compressed air is $10 for one can!
