  1. Nice comparison pics. The rep looks good (for a rep).
  2. Watchhonpo is a scammer. The next time I go to Japan, I will hunt him down
  3. I've decided that I want mine relumed as well, despite the fact that the lume is good as is. If my watch is at The Zigmeister's, I might as well as go for the whole cake instead of just small portions. Cheers
  4. Love the Series Speciale. I think I'm gonna have to try and brush the finish on mine. The bracelet, too. Anyhow though, the Navitimer looks way better with a strap IMHO. Cheers
  5. That's what those silly vintage silver Rolex Spoons are for! I also never knew that they were magnetic. I guess they have other uses aside from stirring sugar into your Orange Pekoe at tea time
  6. It does look like yours is a 7750-based version. That Cadillac Escalade caseback gives it away. I love the 7750 as a movement, but it's a thick one. Sometimes it does not sit well casewise with various watch companies/models. Personally, I love Venus 178, Valjoux 72 and Lemania 5100 (my favorite workhorse ). Well, FWIW, my two DW 6263/5 kits powered with Valjoux 72 have these specs: 37mm diameter, 19mm lugs & asymetrical pushers (since the movement is V72). They also accept genuine parts (crown, crown tube, crystal, bracelet, etc..) The only thing closer to this is OEM. And full retail value (relative) for OEM is ridiculous. As a sincere 15+ years OEM vintage Rolex collector, I would never drop that amount of cash on reference 6263, 6265, 6239 etc. They are not worth the price. That's what reps are for
  7. I broke down and ordered the MBW Jumbo Nautilus from Paso. I told myself I would wait, but I couldn't hold out any longer. I'm going to post pics+review upon receipt.
  8. That watch... That strap... Gorgeous stuff. I am very impressed with your efforts
  9. Wow seeing the pics of the datewheels makes me very happy that I ordered the DW from Lello a few days ago - and I don't even own an Ingy yet! Anyhow, Lello is great and I've always appreciated his immense efforts in creating these unique items for our reps. Cheers
  10. Looks great. I have no idea why IWC does not offer a leather strap option for the Ingeniuer.
  11. I find it interesting that there are lots of folks around here who rely/depend upon the ruggedness of Seiko dive watches. This makes complete sense to me since Seiko watches are inexpensive and they're built like tanks. No wonder the SKX007 is the world's #1 most used watch for diving. Here's another way to look at it: More people in the world depend upon the Seiko SKX007 with their lives whilst diving than with any other watch. Now that says something about proven reliability & toughness. The 7S26 movement is rugged as hell, too. Hank7502, you are crazy to wanna beat up your Sinn! I would swim with it, but even diving I know it would take a beating on the rocks. I know its made for diving, but to me it's too nice of a watch. By the way, i love that U1. Cheers
  12. Or for the rare as hen's teeth No Date Datejust
  13. I think that the AR is as good as it needs to be compared to a genuine 3717. Yes, I was lucky enough to see and handle a 3717 in person. There is a long waiting list for this watch at various ADs. I handled one that a lucky fellow was picking up. The AR on the genuine is slight. It is very much like the rep (which seems to have a slight amount of AR) The lume is pretty close (white Luminova is weaker than the other colors of Luminova). This is in comparison to the genuine 3717 and to my genuine Mark XV dial. Of course, a relume is always a great idea, but as is, the watch is terrific.
  14. Customized Seiko SKX007 Built like tanks. Upgraded AR coated domed sapphire crystals. Superlumed dials + hands. One of them is entirely PVD coated, the other has the bezel PVD coated. Tested every 6 months at 200m for a minimum of 5 minutes.
  15. Wow, that's a dial for people who are taking a long walk on a short pier.
  16. Stephane, you are right: patience is the key The best part is that the 3717 can be modded to perfection. I'm sending in my 3717 in a week to The Zigmeister for a Swiss 7750 movement swap, along with the Cousins Datewheels. Steel-colored canon pinions, excellent date font + alignment, great swiss movement... Why am I going through the trouble? Because the watch is something that I will wear very often and keep for many many years.
  17. Hi Poopypants, hope u are good buddy... Personally, I prefer the 001. I like the closed caseback, and the old dial printing is perfect ---> I'm talking about the models that EL and River had a few years ago. With a relume, canon pinion fix and crown upgrade, you can have a perfect PAM. Ok, since u asked, here's the 001 negative(s): - Caseback has a stupid serial number (2000 outta 3000). Yeah, lucky me. I got #2000 outta 3000. Ok, it's possible, but come on. - U need about $200 in mods to perfect the older style watch -Cheers
  18. Stephane, tu vas aimer cette montre - elle est vraiment incroyable. It is a must for anybody who loves the simpicity and timeless elegance of IWC.
  19. I bought one 2 months ago and I still have not received it. It was supposed to take 1 month including shipping. You've just reminded me to email the seller again. By the way, the strap I ordered was a HKTAN black Pilot strap with white stitch 21mm X 18mm. It had to be custom made due to the unusual 21mm X 18mm size.
  20. It would be great if someone in the States offered case modding (smoothing the lugs, CGs, etc) as a service. I know there might be people who do this sort of thing, but I'm talking about a real expert who is a very experienced collector of genuine vintage Rolex. So far, I have trusted nobody to refinish any cases of mine. My MBW 1665 needs it, so do my 2 DW 6263/5 Daytonas.
  21. A Killy rep would be amazing. The V72C is one of the most interesting movements. I think that Nanuq's Breitling/Gigandet/Wakmann pilot chrono is powered by a Valjoux 72C.
  22. If you find a vintage old no-name chronograph powered with a Valjoux 72 for less than $800, you better buy it. There might still be an ignorant watch seller out there who would foolishly charge such little money, but as of 2 years ago, the price for old no-name beat up bad condition case V72 chronographs is starting at $800. I have 2 V72 Daytonas - and they were quite costly to build. I will never do it again. They are not worth it. I like them, but they are too small to wear in this day & age. There are too many amazingly better V72 watches out there than the tiny Daytona. Yeah, this is coming from a diehard lonnng-time (15+ years) genuine vintage Rolex sports model collector. Here are two of mine. One of them is powered with a NOS Valjoux 72.
  23. Interesting watch. Looks like an LSD-inspired design.
  24. Awesome watch, Nanuq. Fortis has always made excellent tool watches. Great asthetics, too. I suspect that endlinks might be tough to find; perhaps contacting Fortis directly would be a good idea.
  25. Yes, Bruce79, it seems as if he might've been bluffing. Interesting story though. I have never talked to anybody wearing a PAM who feigned ignorance upon the brand - every one of them have been PAM freaks who knew quite a bit about PAM models.
