Very nice done, my friend! Looks great... ! It's a really good option to a gen, and not to spend a lot of money on that. But the rep inserts are very susceptible for scraches, that's the only problem...

It's light-years away from a "ideal" GMT Master! You have nothing - yes nothing - that you can say it's nearly similar to the real deal! Even not one visible part is compareable! Sorry, but it is the truth...

Does something better exist than a 1680? Naaah...

There are gen bars installed, they are only too short and they don't coming out to be visible! I ordered 6 pairs and they should be tomorrow here...but thanks for your advice!

Gen 93150 bracelet arrived! After 1 1/2 hours it is completely overworked and it looks like new! The only I need to arrive now are the springbars. The mounted ones are too short, 'cause I cutted them for another vintage project with a very thin case. They new sets should arrive these days I hope... But here some nice pics, enjoy:

BTW, on this one the movement was from a GMT master, so I used the sleeve-gears like they are - a little bit longer! So the hand stack is higher, like it should be. I hope that I can use the parts for the 2846 movement, that would be a perfect addition...

I've modded so many watches for other members, finally I finished my red 1680! Usual jobs are done like CG's, bezel shaved, caseback, new crystal, reluming, gen tube & crown, lugholes drilled, gen ETA 2836 (will be changed for a 2846 soon). Also is a gen insert snapped in... I am still waiting for the gen 93150 bracelet to arrive, and the watch is complete! After getting it, there will be some nice pics...promised! EDIT: Oh, I forgot to mention - it is a MBK!

Yes and no! You was right - the black is gen, but your explanation (small chronos must have rings) was false! And BTW: One of the watches from the pics comes from me, so I knew the answer before...

Unforunately you're not good informed my friend - only black (and white) face has the rings! Read, look and learn: HERE (be patient, the site is very slow...)

Maybe, but it sits not deep enough like on gen! If you sand it down - it snaps not in anymore... Best solution is to buy a gen bezel and retaining ring...(and of course a gen insert )

Really nice work my friend! I never thought it will be possible to do something like that! I've made the same datewheels as you did - flat-top - but I noticed that all flat-top's are silver...so my project fells thru, because for a silver sunbrushed datewheel it needs more than a good printer... But now after your post I think some doors are opened which we never thought they will, and there will come some exclusive reps on daylight...just can't wait to see them

Dito. On question about why using MBW case: There is a german Forum where Maria aka "MBW" is presented. So he's the god of reps for the most members there, and everything he's selling (that means all versions of reps) he calls MBW, and everyone there thinks that he's buying a over the top rep, but in real there are some really bad ones for a lot of money! So the members from this forum will always use for a project MBW as base - with correct crown position or not - it is a MBW! BTW, a member of that forum told me this story...

Yes, but the CG's are not correct! They are shaped more like on a Sub, because the YM has a specific shape! I would rework in your case the lugs from downside and it will get a good base for a Sub, not perfect - still good...but if you have not the knowhow and correct tools for that, it would be better to send the watch to a modder, who knows what he's doing...it would be a shame to ruin the case!

Last year I've made 2 of these watches, but my cases wore more correct for a sub than yours (CG's, lugs caseback etc.). And I mount on both brand new gen Rolex gold tubes and crowns (Very expensive I can tell you! For one set I spent 250,-€!). Biggest problem is the rehaut, which is not actually correct, and the dial size was like on CN subs - so no chance for a gen dial... Here is my post: CLICK
