No problem! I agree it hurts but his cases are the best imo and he does all the work, win win. Don't even worry about the band now, it won't be anywhere near 1500$ it's 19mm, they don't cost much. It feels really good to build your own, you'll see!

If I had 6000$ to make a daytona, I would use this recipe. Phong's case 1200$ Appx V72 or 726 movement 1200$ appx (tip: try to get one from a member here) Gen p302 pushers and gen crown/tube appx 1000$ Gen tropic 21 not much let's say 200$ tops That makes appx 3600$ And leaves you with 2400$ to get a service dial and hands. You may need to spend a tad more for the dial/hands but not that much more. I usually send my parts to phong and he retaps his case to accept the gen tube and pushers, he then installs the movement, dial, hands and crystal. It comes back as a completed watch.

There's only one gen bezel available now, http://www.network54.com/Forum/207673/message/1410464834/FS-+Submariner+6536-1-5508-6538+Complete+Bezel%2C+Mint+%21%21 I know him and can get you a better deal if you want. If I were you I would get an aftermarket bezel from minh q or phong and use a genuine insert.. Any old insert will do as long as it's a long 5 or kissing 40.. The red triangle ones are too expensive. Phong's bezel is 350$ if I'm not mistaken and its identical to the genuine ones with brass under the nickel plate.

It can also be a 5508, impossible to tell with one pic... It has a service dial and hands. Do you want a genuine bezel and insert or replica?

1675, yup cwp which I believe has the same stock as minh Edit: ndtrading is the one I was thinking of that has the same stock as minh, cwp is Michael Young

Thank you, I think it's a modded cartel case with cwp bezel/insert.

Thanks, I needed a daily beater to give my poor bc a rest, I've never been a fan of gmt's but it looks great without the cyclops and with the blue insert not to mention the full red gmt hand, what a killer combo!

My 2 favs, I've built other daytona's and other bc's but these are/were special (sold the daytona to a local friend, still have the bc) Bc 6538: Phong case, dial was redone using gen plate and methods, hands are MY aged and lumed to match dial. Gen insert and bezel, gen 1030 movement, gen t-17 sd, gen rivet 7206, gen crown. 6265 daytona: Phong case, gen orig big red dial, gen orig hands, gen tropic 21 sd and gen pushers. Gen service bezel and gen band. V726 roamer movement.

I would keep one gen diver style/type watch for swimming like others have said but you don't need more then one imo. A few good reps and one gen should be fine and save you a lot of money.

Yes! Minh and phong have the same case profile but phong's is easier to deal with, right on
