My first pruchase from EL was the legendary Solid 18k FM. It was quite a remarkable purchase, two pm's where exchanged and the deal was made.
After couple of days the watch arrived savely at my door. now the point of the story is; 1 or 2 days later i recieved pm from EL asking me to check if there is someting with the payment. So I called my bank to check whats going on, seems i made spelling mistake on the bank wire.
Turns out, he shipped the item even berfore seeing a single penny (where talking 1600usd at that time). All ended well, i'm no scammer PP'd him same day. I'd say he was truly a class act on another level...
I would not be suprised if its a rep, however the bold engraving issue was never really cleared IMO.
I wonder too what these should fetch. I remember DW charged me 25 usd for the MM couple of yours back... which is leaps behind of this 1570 in terms of quality and finish. I reckon this doesn't come cheap.
It is not certain it is real or rep, the finnish is not like the MM.
The bold engraving was discussed in the bend rolex movement topic i can't seem to find right know.
Interresting
Dont know nothing about rolex movements, i do see less holes holes on the top plate next to the datewheel on DW's
Also note DW's has bold engraving.
There are 2 versions though, both with theirs flaws, But the biggest would be, the automatic, has a fake type case design.
Genunine:
Automatic:
Handwound:
Just big guards at both sides, but not true to gen:
Yeah I ment the flat top's. Radial brusched gold would be great, however i don't want to complicate the process at this stage, and go along with the crowd
Indeed the eta datewheel is spaced further out center vs rolex movements. However all dials where the date window cutout is exactly beneath, and nicely centered in a gen crystal cyclops, the Stilty overlay should work.
I build quite a number of DJ frankens, using the cubic works or MBW overlays, on genuine dials, and never had a problem the overlays didnt match the date cut out.
Gen acryllic crystal with TW best rep dial and MBW open 6/9 datehweel overlay.
Anyways im still in!
The watch in itself isnt much, that wasn't the point. It is an interesting movement, where the tourby is the entire dial. Since it's chinees (seagull?), i think its a pretty good archievement.
Indeed Corgi, this proves to me they move at a pretty fast pace, the day they will make a minute repeater, it wil be a great day.
Me too, if what i pay extra for, i actually recieve. That is more what i mean with crapshoot. I know there is good stuff out there. But getting it is a challenge to say the least, espcially from China.
Nice buy,
one tip, if you can open this baby up, remove the gold colored stickers. Above a certain temperature they come off, and going to mess up your movement, which is in fact pretty decent and reliable.
It seems the tube on the crown (which screws onto the stem) is snapped off. The stem is fine, you will need to unscrew the black circled piece off of the stem. I think you will need a new crown.
