  1. Mike, I would be travelling to New York for Christmas, perhaps I could catch you one of the days in your area. I have a gift prepared for you actually, to return your kindness. It was a very nice watch you sent me, and I still wear it at least once a week! Thank you my friend. I hope to pay your kindness back in person one day.
  2. You are right, the FC pattern is very close to the gen. I am sorry to hear about the DOA watch though.. you should contact Angus either for a partial refund or have him pay for your servicing.. Nice collection of APs BTW!
  3. Mr Z my friend.. your PM box is full Can you PM me with regards to whether you have the forged carbon watch for sale? I have a mate looking for it and a modded one would be good. He has the gen gold version and when I showed him your version, he put away the money set aside for the forged carbon version and asked me to contact you.
  4. I guess its different strokes for different folks with regards to online dating. I met my wife through an online dating site, and it was an interesting episode of my life. A bit like speed dating where you cycle through several dates before settling in on one that makes you feel comfortable.I guess I was lucky.
  5. I owned both the 996 and 997 turbos, and I must say that if I come across the air cooled turbo porsches, I would buy it in a hurry. Yes they are iconic and true driver cars. In the part of the world where I am, getting a vintage ride is not easy given the tax and costs involved. I love the modern sports cars, but yes, I agree with you to a large extent, the older porsches are unmatched in terms of driver involvement, looks and exhaust melodies.
  6. In a way, the origin of the replicas are Asian, and replicas are indeed a dodgy business relative to the ones which are more conventional. I find your statement rather racist. I am Asian, but I have no negative reputation either in my personal life, my business, or as a member of this forum. Not all Asians are dodgy, and not all dodgy dudes are Asians. You have a problem with that?
  7. What you are saying sounds logical and hopeful, but the fact of the current situation is, a lot of the more popular ROOs are "out of stock".. somehow this worries me. I used to be able to order one anytime I like. Now, the only ROOs I can buy are either from the AP AD or from members who get tired of theirs.
  8. You know, because of posts like yours, tech idiots like me get to see what the oft-mentioned stem assembly looks like.. thank you!
  9. Yes its the same thing I heard. With the rep factory going GEN, what're we gonna do? Hopefully some new kid on the block would take over from them and continue providing joy to us.
  10. I saw this version too and find it ridiculous. Who would wear diamonds or rose gold to go diving? A diver watch is meant to be rugged and robust, not look like something to wear to the evening ball in a suit and a lady draped on your arm. At the very least, any diver watch should be built for everyday wear, and should look like it wants to get sporty every now and then. But thats just my personal 2 cents. Oh yes, the Bumblebee forged carbon would be awesome.. But I do hope the Noob factory is still going strong in terms of product development. I have been having difficulty trying to purchase sec@12 rep ROOs lately
  11. That watch needs a doctor. It is sick, very sick. Nice watch Mike, wear her well!
  12. Thanks Sul for the enlightenment. It is indeed a very tiny flaw. How visible is the gap to you?
  13. I am an idiot, when it comes to details like this.. can you explain please? Thank you
  14. It all depends on which model you are trying to franken. The availability of parts and difficulty of mods vary for different models. Do you have a specific watch in mind?
  15. on his wrist it would be like a hummingbird feather
  16. It would be easier, in my opinion, to send the watch to any of the modders here for superluming. Also, for the crown, get it from the dealer you purchased the watch from.
  17. Which movement and model would that be please?
  18. Mike my friend, your tastes ought to gravitate toward larger dials.. ever considered a U boat? Seriously a vintage submariner on you would look like a ladies dataejust.
  19. actually sgtguk and mapman, I think I sport a smaller wrist than you guys, at 6", and I still have 47mm and even a 53mm watch in my repertoire.. I guess its about the attitude more than the actual dimensional compatibility for me. Yes Clock on my wrist, but who cares?
  20. Dear Mike I am sorry to hear about your situation. I have visited your store in hope of supporting you, but I see that you do not ship to Singapore. I would be happy to order 2 pens from you if possible. Particularly keen on the gator bone one God bless and best regards LK
  21. For those interested, I saw that the "ultimate" (usually this means significantly more accurate than the "basic" version) is available for pre-order now. It looks like this is a product of the new Z factory, which produced the PAM 351. http://www.pureti.me/product/pre-order-pam389-o-zf-11-best-edition-on-black-rubber-strap-p9000/ What do you guys think? I do not work for Puretime nor am I in any way associated with Angus and company. I am just here to share my find for those interested.
  22. Actually the definition of best PAM is pretty subjective. These days, the PAM reps are very well done, so much so that I have sold 2 gens and used the money to fund my rep hobby! However, no matter how well-made these babies are, I would not rate any one a true 1:1. 95% is a very fair rating for the super-reps, which includes some models you have listed. So the only 1:1 you are going to get are from the Panerai boutique. If you can settle for less, try any of the super reps. I have a guide here that should prove useful.. http://www.replica-watch.info/vb/showthread.php/reference-pam-review-107365.html So here you go, and good luck with your search.
  23. Very wonderful and useful guide, thank you for taking the time to compile this for our benefit. I truly appreciate it!
