@cougaree: That's just an insanely good looking BCE. Too bad the rep dials aren't quite like that. I think the rep B01 dial execution is better than any BCE dial (based on the pictures only of course).

My favorite Navitimer. I would buy a rep instantly if there was a good one available. I actually owned one back in 2005. It looked like this. Lots of flaws... the biggest being the polished case and bracelet. The subdial concave shape (which is characteristic for Navis) was achieved by stickers. It'd be nice if there was something better than this... and with BRUSHED case.

This must be some kind of mockery of Seiko. I doubt they'd sink that low. Only Invicta could be embarrassing enough to make something like this.

I chose the more expensive "ultimate" version myself. Without seeing them side-by-side I think detecting the difference might be tough. PT said that there actually IS a difference. Well anyway... that's what I'm going to receive.

Sea Dweller 16600 - Are there any good options out there
By-Tor replied to txcollector's topic in The Rolex Area
Well guys, if you think SSD is a good rep, go for it then. I don't think it's good at all (by today's RWG "anal retentive" standards)... but it's your money. And it's also true that different flaws bother different people. For me the fundamentally wrong looking crystal/rehaut combo kills the SSD... because it's exactly the thing that visually separates Sea-Dweller from Submariner 16610. The gen rehaut has 3 "protuberances" and it's very thick and noticeable. Stephane owned both gen and the rep (for a day or so) so he might offer his opinion here. And yeah, SELs are completely hit'n'miss on all Noobfactory Rollies. I should know that, I've owned 15-20 of them. And I've bought crap reps too... never hesitated to call them bad, either. I have always offered my objective opinion if someone asks. But then it's just an opinion... nothing more. -
I voted for the Fish (of course). Skyland is a close second and the more I look at B01 photos, more I like it. Crazy, huh? I disliked the watch when it came out but now it has become one of my favs. Let's see if it has long term appeal or not. I've never been a big fan of the Ti watches but you gotta admit the Ti Chrono Avenger is a cool watch. I never got into the SuperOcean Heritage... too much Rolex-like for me. Standard SuperOcean (both new and old) don't do anything for me, either. Keep the votes & comments coming!

You wear yours really loose Noel. Doesn't it get banged on the walls easily?

I'm getting the B01 soon. I'll make a big review & pictorial of it. HERE is a discussion about the B01 rep. I made a lot of research and compared reps to gens before I made my purchase and came to the conclusion that the Onyx black dial versions are hands down the best. The recessed datewheel are barely visible on these (black on black). I haven't seen the B01 Ultimate in the flesh yet, but based only on the pictures I'd say it's better replication than the BCE stick version. BCE lume sticks simply aren't that great and precise, regardless of the version. All my friends praise the B01 rep quality so I'll take their word for it. Onyx black versions are the best, period. Stay away from the graphite because the recessed dw is more apparent on that. The blue versions are totally off and I'm not convinced of the other dials, either. This was my choice. I think it's the best of the B01 reps... THE version to get, imho. PS: Check my section, there's a BCE buying guide (if you decide to go for the BCE instead).

I know what you mean Robbie. I guess it depends on the person's wrist shape. I wear all my watches relatively tight... I can barely squeeze my forefinger between the bracelet and my lower wrist when they're on. If they're looser or tighter I simply can't wear the watch comfortably. The only watch that I never found perfect fit was my gen Aquaracer. I took it to the AD and their watchsmith drilled one extra micro adjustment hole to the clasp. Now it's perfect. I only have bracelet watches so I have no idea about straps... but as much as people slag off the Rolex Oyster bands, they're still the easiest to size, and also easiest to make fit perfectly.

I was bored... nothing to do so I created this totally useless poll. Why not... so what's your favorite 'Ling? It's actually quite interesting to see which one is RWG's favorite. There are so many models but I guess these cover the most popular ones. Discuss.

Interesting discussion about B01 in the BreitlingSource: LINK. Generally it's a good discussion. Sometimes these "100% brand loyal" guys amuse me though... they're so serious. Actually BS is one of the best gen forums there is, and one of the few gen forums I visit. Apparently many of these guys visit us too... they're pretty well aware of the Breitling reps.

According to Precious Time, the factory that makes the top Breitlings is the same one that makes the best TAG Heuer reps (Link, Aquaracer, Grand Carrera, etc.) They put out top quality stuff. Let's hope they'll get the Fish dials correct this time.

Never been a big fan of the real high end watches and their design. There are exceptions though... Patek and JLC have some great looking dress watches. Not my style though. But you gotta admire Patek, Breguet, JLC and VC for their horological achievements. I don't think an average guy like me would even feel comfortable with a $200K tourbillon (even if I could afford one, which I don't). I'll leave that stuff to Jetmid.

Congrats. I know the feeling. For me it was 16710. Was it tough to choose between black and white?

It's a Daytona? Congrats... whatever it is.

Maybe you take watches a wee bit too seriously, or alternatively hang around with wrong kind of "surface" people? I have never met a woman who has commented my watch, or even recognized it. The stereotype of a woman who would probably notice a Rolex (and choose his man because of his watch), would be someone who "swims in dirty waters". For money. If someone wears a watch to seek "admiration and success" I think he should get his head examined. That "jews" comment was really stupid too.

Exactly. That's what Mansell, Piquet sr, Niki Lauda, Ayrton Senna or Alain Prost would have done. Regardless of the consequences. Remember the old days... Mansell told the team bosses to f*ck off many times. He was egoistic, narcistic and cared only about himself. A prototype of a pure F1-driver. General public LOVED that kind of guys. It's called "character" and F1 is supposed to be a "sport". How does this decision is positive for Felipe and his legacy? He's a proven fast driver who has given both Alonso and Kimi Raikkonen a run for their money... arguably two of the most talented drivers of their generation. Now all racing people will remember Felipe as a bitch, just like Rubens Barrichello (despite all his wins in F1). And in Schumacher/Barrichello case it wasn't that bad because Schumi was always superior 99% of the time... now the season is only half-way over and the point gap between Alonso and Massa isn't big. And besides, his contract with Ferrari is going to expire anyway. I understand your point... maybe with this move he improved his chances to get an extension... but personally, I think it's better to live one year as a lion than 10 years as a mouse.

This puts FIA into an interesting position (again). There are clear rules against team orders. If FIA won't punish Ferrari it's the final nail of this sports' coffin. How can you even call it "sports" if you don't have to follow the rules? What makes it even more hilarious is that Ferrari and Alonso have been whining about "fixed races" in the last few weeks. And how does Alonso have the nerve to celebrate the win in the first place... Santander has probably PAID for this kind of arrangement. Still... the biggest pussy was Felipe Massa who let this whole thing happen. You can talk about being a "team player" and all that but it's bs. REAL F1 drivers like Prost, Senna, daddy Piquet or Mansell... or even Hakkinen or Schumi would never have slowed down, no matter what the consequences would have been. All this politically correct "team first" crap has destroyed this sport. And with this pussy move Massa made himself Alonso's bitch. Officially.

Who watched todays race, and how Alonso got the win after the blatant team order? http://www.itv-f1.com/News_Article.aspx?id=48920&PO=48920

What fascinated me about Rolex was the longevity of classic models like Submariner and GMT Master and their stubborness to do things their own way. They were basically static for 40 years. Then they decided that they had to go with the trends and changed to these "fat lugs" models. In my eyes, they lost a lot of their integrity in the process. Mastergod said that "DSSD isn't motivated by leadership, but by fear of what others are doing.". I totally agree. I wouldn't mind if these new models actually were improvements over the old designs, but besides the new clasp they aren't. It's ironic... for decades people whine that they never change, but when they do it's even worse.

Even the SELs look recessed (like they should). All gen 'Lings with Pro2 bracelet have recessed SELs. This seems to be replicated well on this. Too bad the Fish reps aren't as good in this regard.
