Who makes the best Rolex Projext X Stealth replica?
philwongnz replied to jex's question in Questions & Answers
Lets set some expectations here. Factories are still perfecting the Subs older case style like the latest offering from JF to the Maxi case by Noob. Second of all, these reps are quite niche so you pretty much have to take what you get as factories don't focus on them as they are not popular. The only "custom" rep watch which went into main stream rep factory status was the Project X Diver. Last time I saw some Stealth Subs were offered by Trusty. Everything looks wrong, case, bezel, dial, bracelet. I personally wouldn't waste my money. Another route is to build one if you have the funds and the patience. Good luck! -
3 years ago I bought a faded sub insert from him. The value is fair for a faded one except the insert wasn't faded. I compared my black one with the one I received and it was pretty much the same shade. On the photos, I have no idea what he had done, but it was faded. Anyhow I made the mistake of not reading his T&Cs and I had lost the cost of postage (both to and return) and 10% of the value of the item. I posted my experience on VRF and the mods had removed it saying it was in appropriate. I will never buy from him again.

My stunning blue daytona, a labour of love FS on the board
philwongnz replied to astonjenks's topic in The Rolex Area
Wow really? What is the reference for the gen? Never came across a navy/blue daytona before. Will be keen to learn. -
Thanks for that. I mainly collect gen vintage so I don't know what to look for for modern reps. My friend is interested in buying the gen of this so hence why Im on this thread. From my research it seems neither the noob or JF is close enough, both have a lot of plus and minus. What is your opinion?

What made his one bad sorry? Some easy tells?

How was your order process? I heard there are 3 strap sizes, if so how big is your wrist and the strap size you picked? Also which factory is this?

Tempus Machina replica, how would you do it?
philwongnz replied to hologramet's topic in The Rolex Area
Great work. May I ask why don't u get a new bezel insert? -
I own a gen and a rep and trust me it feel very different with the extra thickness.
-
Spot on. Point 4, I personally get a bezel around the same price. You wouldn't be able to get a movement gen like (thin enough) with running chrono UNLESS you get a gen movement. Of which your JF case might not fit. So unless you have the time, money and patience to build a franken, you will have a semi gen like daytona without running chrono.
-
Example TD here: http://puretime03.com/daytona-116500-ln-jf-best-edition-white-dial-on-ss-bracelet-a23j-same-thickness-as-genuine.html

Well selling your current watch without a bracelet might be harder. Bezel I personally can source but might not fit the rep as is gen spec to 116520. Have a search on ebay and use the search here.
-
JF is factory/maker their latest verison which doesn't have the chrono as the are using the 21J movement is gen spec with the watch thickness. BP is almost a maker (which should be youe watch) their bracelet had a SEL (solid end link) the link which touches the case is better as yours has a bug gap on the side.
-
I would say sell this and buy the JF non chrono version for a start as the case thickness is wrong with this. Change the bezel to a better after market one with thicker font. Buy a BP bracelet with better SEL and then use the clasp that comes with your JF.

Gen watch prices across the world, where would you buy?
philwongnz replied to bjarneb's topic in General Discussion
Great thread. I think it really depends in the brand you are looking for. For example, IWC in Asia you can ask for more discount when new as the brand simply doesn't do as well compared to Europe or perhaps the US. As people in Asia simply prefer Rolex more than IWC. Rolex is a tricky one as we are now entering a period of uncertainty as the US presidency and Brexit and other issues where we have seen a lot of swings with FX. For example I personally based in the UK and the US pricing is no longer that attractive anymore as the sterling had tanked. Since the HKD is pegged with USD I won't see any issues with people who uses USD. My dad is a watch dealer so he has been saying a lot of new watches is worth buying in Dubai. For vintage Thailand seems to be interesting as they don't seem to know the vintage market in great detail. For example he managed to pick up a pristine 20mm big logo rivet bracelet for $500USD. As we all know they go north from around $2k plus just for the clasp let alone the rivet bracelet. -
Great and welcome ! There are lots to learn and is fun sharing this hobby with people in a forum like this . But I personally wouldn't look for rep watches with complications. As most reps comes with Asian movements and the normal ones are time and dates, with A7750 with chrono. You can get some complications out of 21J but is not the most reliable. My advice is to stick with watches with no complications and then you will have more fun and choices.
-
Great piece! What are the specs?
-
I haven't come across such a rep with this complication and I have been into reps for the last 7 yrs+. I would be interested to know myself. To my knowledge, the most complicated and reliable complication is working power reserve you now find in most IWC models. Like you said there are pieces with day and night indicator and also with day and date (Month I think you need to adjust seperately). Good luck and also looking forward to others replies as I personally don't look at reps with complications due to the fact that they have too many flaws.
-
VRF if you want gen, rep. I would say yuki. Also I trust you need the 571 end links with it?
-
Are you looking for gen or a rep?
-
Test was white when I tried it at Harrods. Yet again I was a bit drunk at the time... ?
-
Nice work I'm tempted
-
Are you referring to spring bars attached from the watch head to the bracelet? Or some other pins fell off from the bracelet? Some photos will help.
-
I had the triangle issue AFTER I accepted the QC. But in real life it didn't seem that bad.
-
I rejected two when I bought my friend's one. It felt like the guy at the factory is drunk or something...
