Could you prettyplease make a quick snapshot of the bezel profile when you have it off? I would like to see how deep the bezel part goes into the case. Would be great! I can't make it out on the existing snapshots from the other thread..
Yeah, hehe. I can't wait for it to arrive really.. Wasn't excited about a rep this much.. well.. ever. But just knowing about the "inferior" case construction is a total bummer. Who knows, maybe I wont even think about it once I get it. But in the long run I will probably put a swiss unitas/eta in it and epoxy the case together..
Anyway we totally hijacked this thread. Enjoy your watch, when you get home..
Awesome. It really wouldn't surprise me if the closed caseback does not fit in the end. After all both reps are super duper 1:1 with genuine as sample no difference to the gen.. yet they are so different from each other.
If you build the 111 with the leftover parts, you can still glue the case together.. (and I'll know how and what to do. Hehe. )
So the gen 1950 case is constructed the same way? Friction fitted top and case + just a bigger gasket? Sorry for the newbie questions.. Never paid any attention to how the case is constructed on Panerais.
Well if you DO go the epoxy route, please make a thread or something about it. I'm still waiting for the delivery of the 005. As for the hybrid: I'd really like to know if the closed caseback fits the 111j case. the lever of the 005 cg probably wont work with the CG of the 111j. The crownguards have different feet and the lever of the H-factory crownguards doesn't come off (easily) it seems..
Leave him alone. He's busy crushing dreams.
If you are referring to the Repgeek thread: it wasn't w0lf who pressure tested the H-factory 177/219 to 5 ATM but that Brobert dude..
Sure for the money the watch is still nice and all. It's not like I need it to look or be 100% exact as the gen or anything. I probably wont ever take it into the pool or the ocean too. But I would really like to know that the watch isn't gonna die cause i splashed some water on it while washing hands or being outside while it's raining hard or anything.
Maybe I'll do what you guys recommend with the parts swapping and all. But seriously, how can the rep makers finally make a Pam that looks (to me) pretty awesome right out of the box and then f* up the case construction.. Why can't we have nice things? I will have to cry myself to sleep tonight..
Probably a stupid question, but: wouldn't it be possible to "glue" the bezel and the case together with that epoxyd stuff that one uses to glue the tubes into the cases? The crystal should still be removeable if one needs to.. Wouldn't that prevent the bezel from coming off, or having water leak in there?
edit:
@w0lf: Could you please link the thread in which you have posted your bezel info in for me? I have used the search function to go through your posts in the last 6 months but I can't find it. Was this from another board or am I blind?
Oh. Well. Erm. I at least indeed didnt register that it seems.. Didn't even find it on a quick search in the panerai section. Sorry and thank you.
Man, you are really a dream crusher.. I was so excited about the 005.
Oh I'm sure it got registered. I've read that plenty of times. The thing is that none of you pros ever care to say what that means. So the case constructions is not like the one the gen. Everyone got that. So what does this mean for the average guy that wants to wear a reliable watch out of the box?
No. Rep 111 in the middle, gen 111 under it.
Also I don't know what's the case with the older models but if you compare the 111J case to the gen 111h.. the bezel is too high and/or the angle is off, no?
So what does that mean? Is it that it's just not suited for your modding or whatever or is that the case design itself is bad for any watch because it's less sturdy or prone to waterdamages or whatever? Should people be afraid that their watch will fall apart while taking a walk?
Not that it matters for the arguments sake but thats a 000 on your last picture deniz.
I'm still waiting for the QC pics of mine.
CG is not too bad on the first pics but since these QC pictures are there for a reason I would have wanted another one if it bothers me too much. But since you have accepted, enjoy your watch Maciek. It's a great chance to do more pictorials with beautiful women and nice cars like you used to...
Man this watch looks super nice from all the pictures. Didn't want to go back to Pams but with this..
Does anyone know if this has the same "problems" as the 177L (6497-1 movement instead of 6497-2; flared crown so you can't waterproof the watch)? Was thinking to get the Ti, but didn't because of this..
Theres also no need to pay 2000 or 3000 Euros for a gen BR or Breitling or whatever with the same movement if you argue like that. There is also no reason to pay 1000 Euros for a supermodded Panerai let alone a gen if you can have a gen Unitas watch for 130 Euros.
However I wont complain if I can get that rep BR for less.
