  1. I haven't handled the watch myself but he described it as a normal amount of resistance rather than anything abnormal. Also, I am pretty sure they are still using an ETA 2824. I'm as surprised as you are, this is a brand new watch from a Tudor AD. I'll suggest a quick slap in the palm see if he can get it going.
  2. Just a quick post regarding the recent purchase a friend of mine made. This is his first forray into the luxury watch market and he got himself an excellent deal on a Tudor Black Bay from a local AD. He shot me a message to show me a wrist shot and a couple other pics but was concerned because it wasn't ticking. He had given the watch a full wind of about 20 crown rotations, given it a gentle shake to get the balance going and he still had nothing. He assures me that there is resistance when he turns the crown so it's probably not a mainspring break and when he shakes it he describes the watch as "trying to sweep" normally, even without the main spring being wound you will get 5 seconds of sweeping just from the natural oscilation of the ballance wheel. but he's not getting even that. I suggested the possibility that the hair spring could be damaged or the balance could be binding and unable to move and if even one reducing gear is binding then the movement will be dead. Do any of our experts have a suggestion as to what could be wrong with this watch, this is just out of curiosity as he plans to have the watch exchanged for a new one and wash his hands of the problem. and for the record, this Black Bay on the distressed black leather strap looks incredible, I just love it and am kind of jealous.
  3. No change for me, still wearing my Day Date Carrera
  4. Looks good pal, I do find myself taking almost the same picture on occasion.
  5. Mounted the new strap, the old one was in pretty bad shape. It's not great but it will do the trick for now.
  6. Southern Ontario, Canada, The America of Canada
  7. Great review and the watch looks incredible. I have heard nothing but good things with regard to Rolexman and his services, you will be just one more on the list of genuinely happy customers. I have always loved the Breitling Navitimer, a classic chronograph and always on my list of potential purchases.
  8. No Change for me yet, still wearing this bulk of steel and brown leather
  9. How very long it's been for the X-Wind
  10. Rolex Submariner, keeping it simple lately
  11. Rainy day but the nice weather should return very soon
  12. This is an incredible picture, very well done. I think I need to stop taking photos with my smartphone
  13. Watching Skyfall and pining over a couple of Omega's that must be added to the collection very soon. Wearing this as substitute for my lacking availability.
  14. The fact that I can afford a gen, or a couple of gens certainly doesn't mean that I can afford all gens. If I get the rep and it is great then I will probably stick with it, if I find it to be lacking I will take a harder look at a gen. I don't currently own any Gens of watches that have great reps, if I own a gen, it's because I love the watch and there is no good replica.
  15. I own both and treat them all the same, to me they are just watches. I tend not to own Reps of a watch that I couldn't afford to own (to be fair I couldn't afford the collection I have if they were all gen either) and this is a way to own all of the watches that I want to own without spending an absurd amount of money. There is a definite difference in quality, maybe not to the lay person, but it is tangible and can sometimes justify the sticker price. I am eyeing up a new Aqua Terra at this time my eye is focused on the gen at 4k+. Knowing that a rep may be coming in very short time and that it could be a very good rep I am going to wait, If the rep is as bad as the current ones I'll look harder at a gen. Some gens have never been repped well and if I want it, I have to go gen, that's just the way it goes.
  16. Back to the Submariner. By the way, Freddy - Love that A. Lange, beautiful piece.
  17. No more liquid metal stamp on the PO - Done I'm on it, kind of want to order an Aqua Terra with it though! I guess the real question is, do I have the patience to wait for the AT reps... for which I have a totally hetero boner for
  18. You're going to want to find a watchmaker who is willing to work on a replica, it shouldn't be too hard as long as you stay out of Authorized dealers and just find a guy that fixes watches. I had a movement repaired, cleaned, oiled and regulated and the guy charged me $80.00. shouldn't be too pricey to have it fully serviced and after that you will have a great movement ready to give you a decade of reliable service.
  19. TAG Heuer Formula 1 ceramic is excellent, also the GMT II Coke or Pepsi bezel looks great on a lady.
  20. Beautiful day for my day off, wearing one of my favourite watches today.
  21. Have heard good things and plan to give it a listen tonight, was pretty excited to hear that it was coming out.
