  1. I have a Phong 6263 watch and worked with him on multiple watch projects/dials over the years. The movements come into the watches in two different variations. Option 1 - He sources a completed watch from Vietnam. As long as it works (the internal's can be crap), he sells it off hoping for the best. Option 2 - He has the parts laying around, buys a movement at a trade show and builds it himself with parts. This is more expensive, but higher quality work. He is (or has an) actually a good watchsmith. Either way, he does stand behind his product. He has always fixed (for free) any of his stuff that I have had problems with. Regards.
  2. There is definitely a higher end replica market. It is primarily vintage Rolex and Patek models. As described above Phong is a major supplier of parts. Most of the dials, hands cases and some movement parts come from Vietnam. The quality of these vintage watches are way beyond any of the normal versions available. They do use true 18K gold cases and often will modify older stainless cases, instead of newer SS to get the same texture and metal mix/oxidation. The best quality reps are of pre -1970s models. As the swiss were upgrading their equipment in the 70's, they sold much of it to Russia & Asia (creating the parts base). On the high end Rolex, they will modify a Val 72 or 23 (or standard Rolex movement) and you can have added date, month or moon phase functionality. If you have the money (and patience), you can have a val 23 movement modified to be a perfect match to a 1930 - 1965 Patek chrono movement. The work is expensive and takes about 3 months. The parts are changed and all of the movement pieces are finished to an incredible level. When you have a perfect vintage Patek in your hand, you realize why the go for $200K+ at auctions. And if you are really insane, you build a repeater... Regards.
  3. Very impressive! Regards.
  4. There was a RG version a few years back (when the model first became available). I gave mine away a couple of years ago. Good luck with your search. Regards.

  7. Very nice. How did you get the crown engraved? Regards.
  8. My newest addition. What do you think? Regards.
  9. Very nice combinations!. Regards.
  10. Incredible pictures. Great work. Regards.
  11. They have a richness, warmth and texture that you can't find in modern watches. Regards.
  12. @Corgi - It is mine. Below is a picture of the movement. In my search for watch perfection, I have focused on complicated vintage pieces. On the Patek front, I also have a nice 1938 SS Patek 530 chronograph. Regards.
  13. What are you talking about? They are just expensive (but worth it). Here is my 1952 rose gold Patek 1463. Regards.
  14. Here is another of mine. 1958 Rolex YG 8171. The only vintage gold Rolex big enough to wear for modern times (38mm). It is also the first of the Rolex automatic movements. Regards. P.S. Don't worry... the movement was serviced and no longer dry as the pic shows.
  15. Actually, I picked it up five years ago, before I realized that there was great custom stuff. Two local autherized Rolex dealers have declared it authentic (with a 20 year old refinished dial). Always doubted, but never had the courage to send it to Rolex corporate. Regards.
  16. Anyone like gold??? My 1952 YG 6036. Regards.
  17. Fedex & UPS are the only problems. I have ordered 50+ watches over the years and never had a problem. Regular Airmail is the best, but can take up to 3 weeks. EMS is my preferred, 2 or 3 days and the watch is in your hand. Good Luck.
  18. Same thing has happened to me. I got rid of all of my reps but one. Now I seem to be back at it. Regards.
  19. Tourby, Would a Hamilton 921 fit with this case & dial? Regards.
  20. I am with ssurfer, leave the hands. But consider vintage lume for the hour markers & hands. Great work. Regards.
  21. I have decided that I need a blue PAM. What do you think a DSN 229 or DSN 82? Advice appreciated. Regards.
  22. I am amazed. This watch doesn't even look close to a real Patek. It is also just ugly. Regards.
